1. Academy Vision

Our vision is to further develop So Good Football Academy as an integral part of the local community,

providing direction and leadership to young footballers of all abilities. We also wish to set up a Coaches

academy in conjunction with the 2 local schools in Matero, giving students of all abilities the chance to

take FAZ coaching badges whilst at school and volunteer either within our academy or within local junior

schools to gain valuable experience. Our long term aim is to develop our own academy infrastructure,

including a focal base with academy pitches, changing rooms and a social area.

2. Team Development

2.1 Aim

We aim to maintain all current teams, increasing to 2 teams in each age group above u13 except u18

and open age where we will maintain 1 team. We also aim to increase the girls’ participation to 3 teams.

2.2 Action Plan

2.2.1 Improve academy - school links, as detailed below.

2.2.2 Train players from Under 20 to take on our junior teams

2.2.3 Appoint new managers in age groups where new teams are needed.

2.2.4 Improve marketing and publicity, making So Good Football Academy the natural academy of

choice for youngsters taking up organized football. Subject to funding being available (see 2.2.7 below),

advertise in the local press for players and volunteer coaches.

2.2.5 Maintain all current teams, ensuring a low turnover of players, regardless of ability.

2.2.6 Transfer players within the academy to provide the most rewarding experience for all, at the

discretion of both managers and after discussion with the player and parents.

2.2.7 Apply to organizations interested in football to fund training of any new managers and coaches,

and to subsidize marketing and publicity for the academy.

and contact with the LFA, with a long term aim of creating a pool of qualified referees within the

4.3.6 Youth Coaching Program

The introduction of an education Program for school students to become coaches through FAZ. This will

be carried out with local junior schools through our schools link Program

5. School Academy Links

5.1 Aims

The overall aim is to attract children who are not playing football at that time so that they can be

involved either as just part of a training session or enjoy the social side of the academy. If, through this,

team players are found then this is an extra bonus.

The aims that follow are therefore:

• To attract children from the local area schools for the So Good Football Academy’s Soccer

School

• To attract children for each age group so teams can be formed for both girls and boys

• To attract children and maintain their interest even if they are not team players

• To help to give children life skills

• To link with other sports’ groups, if talents are recognized in other sporting fields, so the

children can be given the chance to extend their sporting skills and knowledge

• To attract parents to the academy so as to use their talents and skills, whether that is on the

coaching side or elsewhere behind the scenes

• Extend parents’ confidence by providing them with chances to be involved with coaching

through course involvement that So Good Football Academy can create

• To help show children’s friends in school just what they are doing when they are playing football

for So Good Football Academy by giving them information through the display boards in school

or through distributed newsletters

• To link with schools so their facilities can be used to full effect. The outside grassy areas lie

unused for most of the year nowadays.

6 | S o G o o d F o o t b a l l A c a d e m y

• To provide support for schools if they require help in coaching youngsters when this is not

available from teachers or staff within school. The young coaches Program will facilitate this.

• To maintain our link with OYDC to offer more multi sports sessions with funding from our

partners with So Good Entertainment.

• To develop our links with local secondary schools with the development of coaching

qualifications for 14 yr. olds and above, with the aim of helping local junior school teams after

lesson time, and entering So Good Football Academy as coaches of our younger teams.

• To develop our links with local secondary schools with the development of their school teams

with a possible outlet for players to join So Good Football Academy older teams to develop their

skills and team play.

It is within the remit of the Schools Liaison Officer to connect with the primary schools in Lusaka to

further the process of giving the children of Matero a chance to be fit and healthy in a team-building,

sporting environment. The schools surrounding Matero and others, who, themselves, have shown an

interest, will be part of the initiative.

6. Communication & Marketing

6.1 Aim
