The Christmas Pageant!

This Sunday we enjoy The Glorious Impossible, our Christmas pageant! After church, after another wonderful lunch, we receive this Christmas gift from our kids.

It is a glorious Christmas tradition repeated and enjoyed just because it is repeated every year. Who will be Mary? Who will be Joseph? Will they remember their lines? Maybe they’ll come up with new ones?!? The Christmas Pageant is never about perfection. It is about the joy of anticipation. How do we wait for the birth of Jesus? Jesus the great. Jesus the glorious. Jesus the child. Jesus the infant. Jesus our friend. Which Jesus do you wait for? Remember the wonderful anticipation you felt as a child? Remember hoping for snow? Did any of us ask what it meant?

"I know what I really want for Christmas. I want my childhood back. I know it doesn't make sense, but since when is Christmas about sense, anyway? It is about a child of long ago and far away, and it is about the child of now. In you and me. Waiting behind the door of our hearts for something won-derful to happen. A child who is impractical, un-realistic, simpleminded and terribly vulnerable to joy."

Worshipping With Us

Welcome! Episcopal worship is participatory. We stand, we kneel, we speak, sometimes we sing! Please join in at your level of comfort. If you’d like to learn more about what we as Episcopalians believe or if you have any questions, please fill out one of the yellow cards in the pew and give it to Mother Susan or one of our ushers. We hope you feel welcome here and that you will come back often to feed your faith.

A Word About Receiving Communion in the Episcopal Church

All are invited to the Altar to receive. If you would like a blessing, just cross your arms over your chest. If you decide to receive only the bread, extend your hand for the wafer and cross your arms over your chest to decline the wine. For the wine or grape juice you may guide the chalice to your lips by placing your hand gently on the chalice’s base and guiding it. Or you can dip your host (wafer) into the wine. Or you can give the host to the Lay Eucharistic Minister, who will dip the host into the wine and place it in your mouth.
