Metal SNO-GEM Snow GuardsThe Original Metal and Half-Carat SNO-GEM snow guards can be manufactured in a wide assortment of metals:

Polycarbonate SNO-GEM Snow GuardsThe Original & Junior SNO-GEM are manufactured from UV Stabilized virgin grade polycarbonate available in clear or mold-injected throughout the material to match any color.

CARAT: The true measure of a Gem’sworth. Both metal and polycarbonateGems provide quality and aesthetic value.

Use the Original Metal or Half-Carat on your copper roof systems. Either model can be made out of the actual copper material used on the roof and applied with orwithout the pretinned back for soldering.

1. Thoroughly clean application area.

2. Hold pretinned SNO-GEM in direction to be applied on roof panel with holder.

3. Heat snow guard until solder is seen through predrilled peak holes.No additional solder is required on parts with pretinned backing.

Pretinned Solder Installation(Copper, Lead-Coated Copper,TCS, Stainless)

1) After applying thin coat of primer to roof surface.

3M Adhesive Tape

2) Peel release paper backing off adhesive tape on snow guard base.

3) Place snow guard in position on metal surface, applying firm, even pressure perpendicular to roof surface.

4) Apply bead of sealant around SNO-GEMperimeter.

1) Apply sealant bead across SNO-GEMsurface.

SB-190 Tube Adhesive

2) Spread sealant evenly before placing snow guard in position on surface.

3) Apply light, even pressure. 4) Apply bead of sealant around SNO-GEMperimeter.

Mechanical Fastening

2) Apply light, even pressure. 3) Install screws with neoprene gasket washers through pilot holes.

4) Apply bead of sealant around SNO-GEMperimeter.

Slate/Asphalt Shingle Roof Systems

1. Place SNO-GEM base on shingle/slate so plate extension extends onto roof deck.

2. Proper location of SNO-GEM base is verified if next course of shingle/slate covers over plate extension exposing the SNO-GEM base only.

3. Fasten top of plate extension compatible nails/screws through two predrilled holes into roof deck securing SNO-GEM position.

Custom-Fit PlatesUse the Original Metal and Half-Carat SNO-GEMS for your SLATE and ASPHALT SHINGLE roof systems. The SNO-GEMS will be attached with a custom length plate to meet the needs of the specific slate or shingles used for proper installation.

Metal Roof SystemsUse the Original Polycarbonate and Junior SNO-GEMS for any metal roof systems,including standing seam and metal building systems, prefabricated roof systems, metalshingles, agricultural buildings/pole barns. The models are made from virgin gradepolycarbonate in clear or mold-injected to match the color of the roof system.SNO-GEM has two non-penetrating installations using Tube Adhesive or 3M Tape.Mechanical Fastening is also available.

1. Thoroughly clean roof surface area where snow guard is to be installed prior to installation

2. Contact SNO-GEM, INC. for recommendations on snow guard location and spacing

1. Pretinned Solder Installation (Copper, Lead-Coated Copper,TCS, Stainless)a. Thoroughly clean application areab. Hold pretinned SNO-GEM in direction to be applied on roof panel with holder.c. Heat snow guard until solder is seen through predrilled peak holes.

No additional solder is required on parts with pretinned backing.

2. Slate/Asphalt Shingle Installationa. Place SNO-GEM base on shingle/slate so plate extension extends onto
