Xmas celebrations at SNIMSWe celebrated Christmas with great

enthusiasm like other festivals of differentcommunities. We had various programmes like Cribmaking, Christmas tree making, Christmas Cardmaking & cake making .

The Finance ControllerMr.E.A.Subramanian and Manager (HospitalAdministration) Mr.Murali dathan delivered notes onChristmas.The cake cutting was by our GCTPresident Mr.M. G. Pushpakaran and he also gave offhe Cash prizes for the winners of Onam pookalamcompetition.

Act of Generosity SNIMS extends a helping hand to Chennai floodvictims.

As thousands of people stand losing theirhomes and belongings to the Chennai floods, we atSNIMS, had taken time off work to collect medicineand distribute them to prevent diseases in vulnerableareas. Our Students & Nurses Union collectedMedicines worth 1 lakh Rupees. On 14th December,Our Principal Prof.Dr .M.J.John handed over the

medicines to the Relief & Charitable Foundation ofIndia, Kozhikode, at a function held at our Hospitalcampus. Mr.E.A.Subramanian, Finance Controller,Mr.P.K.Chandrababu, Senior P.R.O. , leaders ofStudents Union & Nurses Union were present at theoccasion.

World AIDS Day -December 1

Academic activities

Every year World AIDS Day events take placeacross the country to raise awareness and showsupport for people living with HIV. “Getting to Zero” isthe theme selected by the World AIDS Campaign(WAC) to commemorate World AIDS Day on 1stDecember. The theme 2015, echoes the UNAIDSvision of achieving “Zero new HIV infections, Zerodiscrimination, and Zero AIDS-related deaths.”

AIDS day observat ion at Snims wasinaugurated by our Principal Prof.Dr .M.J.John at afunction held at Lecture hall III, at 3 pm on 1-12-2015.MrE.A. Subramanian, Finance Controllerdelivered the message for the Day. Prof. Dr. MadhaviRamachandran, Prof. Dr.Raju Antony, Vice-Principals felicitated. Dr.Krishnan Nair briefed onthe Control & preventive aspects of AIDS . Theprogramme concluded by a skit presented by ourMedical Students on the stigma of this dreadfuldisease & the means to overcome it.

We also conducted a Rally from ChalakkaJunction to SNIMS in which Doctors, staff & studentsof SNIMS partook.

On 3-12-2015.: “The current scenario of AIDS”was presented by the Departments of GeneralMedicine, Paediatrics, Gynaecology & CommunityMedicine. Dr Philip Thomas, Associate Professor,Department of General Medicine discussed thepresent status of AIDS, Dr Georgy Joy Eralil, Associate Professor, OBG talked on 'Prevention of

Parent to Child Transmission '.Dr Suhail Erayath, JR.,Paediatrics elaborated Paediatric aspects ofPrevention of Parent to child transmission andProf.Dr.Raju Antony, HOD, Department ofCommunity Medicine presented a bird's eye view ofaction to be taken to prevent AIDS.
