Seasons for GrowthSeasons for GrowthChange and loss are issues that aect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Wamberal Public School we
recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce or related
circumstances, young people may benet from learning how to manage these changes eectively. We
are therefore oering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth for Stage 2
students.
The program is run in small groups and is based on research that highlights the importance of social
support and the need to practise new skills to cope eectively with change and loss. The program
focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem solving, decision-making,
eective communication and support networks.
Seasons for Growth runs for eight weeks and each weekly session is 40-50 minutes
All information shared in each session is condential. Some students may be recommended for the
program and others will nominate themselves.
If you think your son or daughter would benet from Seasons for Growth, please email the school with
your child’s name and reason why they would benet from the program by the 28th of June. A
maximum of ten students will be chosen this round. If the demand to attend the program is higher,
then a priority list may be established with some students attending the rst program, whilst others
may have the opportunity to attend next year.
There is a small cost of $18 to cover the cost of the student learning journals for the program. Please
contact Mrs Rees if you require assistance in meeting this cost.
We are condent that it will be a valuable learning experience for those who request to be involved. For
more information please contact Suzie Tyson or Mitch Stone through the front oce.
