Introduction

Is your child ready for a tech timeout? The sections in this book describe a wide variety of ideas for steering children away from computers, smartphones, and TV . Each activity provides plenty of screen-free fun . As children go through this book, have them keep an eye out for red letters and this hidden monkey scattered through the pages . They can keep track of them to complete activities at the end of the “Solve It” and “Find It” sections!

Create ItGet creative! Your child will glue, tape, draw, paint, snip, tear, and stack to complete craft projects . You may want to stock up on some of the following items that will be needed for this section: paper (including heavy paper, such as cardstock), colored construction paper, a roll of butcher paper, crayons or colored pencils, glue, tape, scissors, paper plates, paint, brushes, and decorative stickers .

Solve ItThe activities in this section require little more than a pencil and your child’s brain . Many of the puzzles put your child’s elementary knowledge of the alphabet, numbers, and beginning words to the test . Other puzzles require a keen sense of observation .

Find ItThe hunt is on! Whether indoors, outdoors, or on the page, these activities will have your child focused on tasks that require looking, finding, and collecting .

Play It Get your child up and moving . This section is filled with exercises and other physical activities that should get heart rates up and burn off energy . Whether it is running, hopping, dancing, or stretching, your child is sure to get a healthy workout – and have fun at the same time .
