SmartSearch is the Library’s new improved Online Catalogue
A single site searches all Library resources:
The Library Online Catalogue (ie, books, journals, DVD’s)

Advanced Search
To search for “global warming” place the phrase in quotation marks (“ “). Alternatively, you can select [is exact] from the
two options in the relevant drop-down menu. Also select any of these search fields options in the drop-down e. g. in
subject, etc.
Limit your search strategy by Publication date,
Language , and Search Scope.

Result list can be sorted by the
following options
Detail description of a book
Most of the record tabs (below) are self
explanatory, especially the Holdings List,
Locations, Details, and Reviews & Tags. The
Additional Services tab displays additional links, such as provided by the SFX link resolver.

Click on the Locations tab to view the list of items available
Click on “Send to” to export
the record to RefWorks,e-mail or printer.
Select References & Click on e-shelf
When selecting the Star icon for an item in the search results, the star turns orange. Click on e-Shelf.

Create new Folder
Click on New Folder iconName Folder in Box
Click on Save
Saving Items in Folder
Select each Item & Drag to Folder
Select Items to E-mail, Print or Save to Refworks

Search results too few, too many, or not focused enough?If the number of hits retrieved seems unmanageable, you can narrow down the
records displayed by selecting one or more of the refinement options or “Facets”
on the left hand side of the screen, under headings such as “Topic”, “Creator”,
“Journal Title”, etc. Likewise, if the number of hits retrieved seems inadequate,
you can click on the Facets under “Suggested New Searches”. For example, you can search for other articles by your chosen author’s or co-authors
