Smart PSS Operation and Quick Start Guide

Smart PSS is a powerful remote viewing tool with a number of advanced features.

In addition it also includes the PC-NVR program which will allow you to allocate spare space onyour PC or a network drive to record video separately from the DVR or even from IP cameras direct

to your PC.

Upon loading up you will be presented with the above page. You will first want to add your deviceto smart PSS. Click on the devices button on the bottom left.

Adding a Device

Smart PSS will automatically scan your local network for any DVR's that can be added and displaythem in the first box, additionally you import any devices saved on previous version by using the

import button.

NB: Devices exported from General PSS will gain all details except the password, this willneed to be manually edited.

Alternatively you can manually add a device

This is the preferred option when connecting to an external device. You will need to know thecurrent external IP or DDNS address of the device as well as ensuring you have the correct TCP

port of the device added.

Once you have input this information you can then click get info to test the connection, if theremaining windows complete automatically then your settings are correct and you can then eitherclick add to save and close the window or save and continue to proceed to add a secondary device.

LiveView and Playback

Smart PSS will allow you to create custom views for windows as well as allowing you to creategroups of DVR's for quick reference, and custom layouts of views from multiple DVR's and quickly

access the device configuration menus

Smart PSS also allows you to playback camera footage from your DVR's using the Playback option. In the same way as the Liveview, you can access custom groups quickly as well as create custom

playback layouts. You can also download incidents and events directly to your PC

LOGS

In addition to the video data you can also access log and event Data from your device using the logoption

This can be done either from local logs from the alarm function (see below) Or alternatively directlyfrom the device itself. The logs themselves will give you a detailed report for each entry and allow

you to download them in a textfile format for looking over at a later date or to send to anotherperson.

Alarms

Smart PSS has an alarm function where you can tell PSS to give you alarm reports from variousfunctions inside the DVR.

To make use of this function it must be first setup for the kind of alert you wish to receive using theAlarm CFG Option.

Once you've clicked add you will get the following window

First select your Alarm Type (Camera Motion, external alarm, disk error, disk full e.t.c) Then selectthe DVR or Alarm inputs or Cameras you wish to monitor. Then click next.

Alarm link is an optional menu where you can if you choose set Smart PSS to display/record videodirectly on an alarm event. This isn't mandatory so you can skip this step if you choose (For

example if you only wish to see alerts on a HDD error)

Finally you can set a schedule during which these options you've specified are active. This menu isused identically to the schedule menus on your DVR

Simply click the cog icon to modify your days/times

Device and Camera Configuration

Smart PSS supports the ability to modify your device configuration remotely. This can be accessedeith by right clicking the device in the live view mode or alternatively by clicking Device CFG on

the main menu.

When selecting a DVR on the left you will receive options for the internal workings of the device asabove.

You can also click on a camera instead to receive individual options for that camera

At this stage you can only modify settings on a camera by camera basis, however the individualoptions also have a copy option on the bottom left of each option allowing you to copy your settings

to all other cameras should you choose to.

NB: When modifying motion detection it is recommended to change each camera individuallyotherwise all the settings for camera 1 will be applied to every other camera, resulting in

events only being recorded for camera 1

PC NVR

Smart PSS has a powerful Tool called PC-NVR. This option allows you to dedicate the client PC asa recorder for IP cameras or a group of NVR's allowing for offsite, or onsite secondary backup of

data, or when using IP cameras to negate the need for an NVR completely

Open PC NVR – You will be presented with the following page:

To begin click the plus icon and select your cameras that you wish to record. PC NVR can currentlysupport up to 38 Devices, this will expand outwards in future revisions.

You will now have a page displaying your selected cameras. The Next step is to allocate your recording drive

Simply select an available drive and select allocate, you can also specify to overwrite when full or stop recording when full.

NB: Currently Smart PSS will allocate all remaining available space on the drive selected. At present it is highly recommended to have a dedicated network or internal HDD to record the data to.

The next step is to arrange your schedule. This can be done in the same fashion as it's organised within the DVR/NVR by selecting which days and whether to operate on motion, alarm or regular recording or a combination of these.

This Concludes the quick start/basic overview for Smart PSS. If you have any further questions orissues please contact us @ [email protected] or check out our website www.adata.co.uk
