“Allah did confer a great favor on the Believers when He

sent among them a Messenger from among themselves,

rehearsing unto them the Signs of Allah, sanctifying

them and instructing them in Scripture and Wisdom,

while before that, they had been in manifest error.”

(Qur’an: Aali ‘Imran: 3: 164)



““Educate (nurture) your children upon three things: Educate (nurture) your children upon three things:

“But nay, by thy Sustainer! They do not [really] believe

unless they make thee [O Prophet] the judge of all on

which they disagree among themselves, and then find

in their hearts no resistance against thy decision, but

accept it in full submission.”

(Qur’an: An-Nisa : 4 : 65)

How do you “obey and follow”?How do you “obey and follow”?

Whenever a matter has been decided by clear basis, Whenever a matter has been decided by clear basis,

especially from authentic sources (especially from authentic sources (Qur’anQur’an, , As-SunnahAs-Sunnah

and teachings from a competent Islamic scholars), do and teachings from a competent Islamic scholars), do

Acquire those knowledge from the Acquire those knowledge from the Qur’anQur’an and and As-As-

SunnahSunnah which leads us toward acting upon them, which leads us toward acting upon them,

especially on obligatory matters. In this way, we especially on obligatory matters. In this way, we

diminish our ‘intellectual ego’ from being conceited, diminish our ‘intellectual ego’ from being conceited,

[1] [1] Fardh ‘ain Fardh ‘ain before before Fardh kifaayaFardh kifaaya;;

[2] [2] WajibWajib before before mandubmandub ( (sunnat sunnat ););

[3] Removing harm ([3] Removing harm (mafsadahmafsadah, or , or mungkarmungkar) has priority ) has priority

over bringing new benefit (over bringing new benefit (maslahatmaslahat););

“The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own

selves, and his wives are their mothers.

(Qur’an: Ahzab: 33: 6)


““Say: ‘If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, Say: ‘If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers,

your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that ye have your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that ye have

gained; the commerce in which ye fear a decline; or the gained; the commerce in which ye fear a decline; or the

dwellings in which ye delight― are dearer to you than dwellings in which ye delight― are dearer to you than

Allah or His Messenger or the striving in His cause; Allah or His Messenger or the striving in His cause;

then wait until Allah brings about His decision’: and then wait until Allah brings about His decision’: and

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said:“None of you is a(true) Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said:“None of you is a(true)

whatever (teachings) I bring.”whatever (teachings) I bring.”

““LoveLove” is a feeling we have unto whom we hold with ” is a feeling we have unto whom we hold with

special esteem. But there are many feelings which people special esteem. But there are many feelings which people

How do we know their differences?How do we know their differences?

People who claim to be in love, may be deluded, when People who claim to be in love, may be deluded, when

they impose their personal likes and dislikes; their they impose their personal likes and dislikes; their

priorities; their choices and preferences etc. rather than priorities; their choices and preferences etc. rather than

that of their “that of their “beloved’sbeloved’s” likes/dislikes, choices, ” likes/dislikes, choices,

preferences etc.preferences etc.

Some feel as though we ‘Some feel as though we ‘lovelove’ the Prophet s.a.w. but the ’ the Prophet s.a.w. but the

more pertinent concern should be to consider, “more pertinent concern should be to consider, “how how

would the Prophet s.a.w. feel towards us, who have so would the Prophet s.a.w. feel towards us, who have so

much shortcomingsmuch shortcomings??””


Generally we should first confirm his Prophethood, obey Generally we should first confirm his Prophethood, obey

his commands and prohibitions; support, help and his commands and prohibitions; support, help and

protect him, reviving, practicing, teaching and spreading protect him, reviving, practicing, teaching and spreading

his Sunnah; invite all to Allah, to the Book of Allah and his Sunnah; invite all to Allah, to the Book of Allah and

ways of Allah’s messenger; inculcate in ourselves his ways of Allah’s messenger; inculcate in ourselves his

noble characteristics and Adab. noble characteristics and Adab.


Maintain esteem respect and love for the Prophet s.a.w.; Maintain esteem respect and love for the Prophet s.a.w.;

preserve his Sunnah from neglect or attack (in practice preserve his Sunnah from neglect or attack (in practice

and by teaching them); sharing his likes/dislikes; and by teaching them); sharing his likes/dislikes;

understanding his understanding his Shari’ahShari’ah; loving for People of his ; loving for People of his

House (House (Ahlul-BaytihiAhlul-Baytihi) and his loyal companions, and the ) and his loyal companions, and the

true true Ulama’Ulama’ ; showing compassion to his entire Ummah; ; showing compassion to his entire Ummah;

extend his message of the Mercy of Allah for the worlds.extend his message of the Mercy of Allah for the worlds.


True love must be ‘sincere’ and ‘selfless’ – something True love must be ‘sincere’ and ‘selfless’ – something

Prophet s.a.w. because of Allah s.w.t.Prophet s.a.w. because of Allah s.w.t.

How do you inculcate this?How do you inculcate this?

What we seek is that “love” (What we seek is that “love” (hubbhubb) which Allah and His ) which Allah and His

Messenger s.a.w. meant by “love”, not our self-deluded Messenger s.a.w. meant by “love”, not our self-deluded

‘understanding’ of love. ‘understanding’ of love.

““O Allah! Grant us the love for You, and the love for Your O Allah! Grant us the love for You, and the love for Your

Messenger Muhammad s.a.w., and the love towards whoever Messenger Muhammad s.a.w., and the love towards whoever

has love for You, and make us to love doing every deeds which has love for You, and make us to love doing every deeds which

can bring us towards Your Nearness, and make us to love You can bring us towards Your Nearness, and make us to love You

more than our love for cool (drinking) water.”more than our love for cool (drinking) water.”

OUR DU’AOUR DU’A

TO CONTINUE اَء�الل �َش� ْن اَء�اللِإ �َش� ْن ههِإ

“Allah and His angels, send blessings on the Prophet:

O ye that believe! send ye blessings on him and salute

him, with all respect (with a worthy salutation).”

(Qur’an: Ahzab: 33: 56)
