The Steuben Youth Leadership Summit provides youth with the opportunity to develop leadership
skills, identify priority issues, and discuss these priorities with state and county government leaders.

Our Trainer:
The Steuben Youth Leadership Summit is an opportunity for emerging and
potential youth leaders in Steuben County to enhance their leadership
skills, and to talk directly with county and state
government leaders. Through an interactive training
seminar, discussions with other youth from across the
county, and a conversation with elected leaders,
participants will:
Identify issues and priorities of today’s youth;
Discuss their priorities with state and local officials;
Better understand the impact they can have as
school & community leaders; and
Develop strategies for becoming more effective
leaders.

Additional Information:
Lunch: Lunch will be provided.
Appropriate Attire: Participants are expected to dress respectfully.
Slacks/skirts and collared shirts/blouses are preferred. Please no jeans,
shorts, flip flops, etc…
Cost: There is no cost for attending the Summit, which is sponsored by
the Steuben County Legislature and the NYS Office of Children & Family
Services, Bureau of Youth Development.
Eligibility & Participation:
Participation in the Summit is open to students in grades 10 - 12 and recent
high school graduates, and will be by invitation only. Youth interested in
participating must submit an application by Friday, November 1, 2019.
Those selected to participate will receive an email invitation by 11/4/19.

Identify two individuals who are willing to serve as references for you in applying for the Summit. These two individuals should not be related to you, but should be aware of your involvement in a school or community club or organization. One reference from your school and one reference from the community are preferred, but two school references or two community references are acceptable. Ask each of your references to complete a box below.
Submitting Application:
Completed applications must be received by Friday, November 1, 2019. It is the responsibility of the youth applicant to ensure that the application has been submitted and received. Applications may be submitted through any of the following:
