Sketchbook Assignment 1 - Word Visualization

The Task: You will illustrate one of the words given below in a manner that conveys the meaning of the word visually: imagine that someone who doesn’t speak English must understand the meaning of the word just by looking at it.

Process: Pick three words from the list below. Do your rough sketches in your sketchbook (or on rough paper if you do not have one). Choose the best one and create a good copy on a small piece of poster paper. Colour with pencil crayon. (Hand in your rough sketches with your good copy!!)

Marking: The criteria for marking this assignment will be based on: the completion of 3 rough copies, colour (working in harmony with the word), size (again, in harmony with the word chosen), shape (ie. if the word is soft, it will have soft edges, etc.) and overall creativity and design.
