DESCRIPTION
My sketchbook is a compilation of field and technical sketches, as well as hand renderings.TRANSCRIPT
Field sketching is a way to discover and understand the world from a personal perspective. Though sketching in a familiar environment can help better one’s skill, it is a fantastic way to remember a specific moment or emotion, especially during trips. My field sketching exhibits a wide-range of subjects from buildings to landscapes, from whole objects to details; all of
which I found to be important in recording a moment in time.

Technical sketching is a detail-oriented approach to sketching to infer what is beyond the surface to learn typical materials and construction methods in a structure. By closely observ-ing these details, this leads to a better understanding of a structure. The best way to com-municate these discoveries is through general, sectional, and detail drawings showing every
layer of material and its relationship to others.

Though it is a hobby, my hand drawings are meant to capture the life and personality of the subject--the quintessential version of him or her. The skills learned in these examples reso-nate in other hand-drawn work in school projects—in the form of diagrams, perspectives, and renderings. They give a depth to the project by adding another level of understanding,
and by creating inhabitable space out of floor plans.
