About This Manual
Purpose
ZXWR 3G mobile telecommunication system radio network subsystem includes the radio network controller and BS. The radio network subsystem implements the call processing, radio resource allocation, terminal mobility management, cell handover control, and radio access. ZXWR BBUB is the baseband unit of ZTE’s WCDMA series BSs.
This manual is a hardware description of ZXWR BBUB baseband unit (or BBUB for short).
Intended Audience
This manual provides a reference to system and maintenance engineers.
Prerequisite Skill and Knowledge
To use this manual effectively, users should have a general understanding of wireless telecommunications technology. Familiarity with the following is helpful:

Appearance BBUB cabinet is standard 19” and 3U cabinet. Its dimension is 482.6 mm (W) × 130.5 mm (H) × 330 mm (D), and is 15 kg in full configurat6ion.
The appearance of the BBUB cabinet is as shown in Figure 1.

Structure BBUB cabinet consists of shell, guide rail and backplane, as shown in Figure 2.

The dimensions of an 8 U standard board are 322.25 mm × 300 mm (H × D). The board structure is as shown in Figure 4.

CCI Board The full name of CCI is Control & Clock & Interface Board. It is the core board of BBUB. It implements such functions as system control, Ethernet data switch, IQ data switch, clock signal processing, Iub interface data processing, RRU interface data processing and environment monitoring.
Panel
The panel of the CCI board is as shown in Figure 5. The interfaces, buttons and LED indicators are as shown in Table 4.

Hot-plugging
CCI board supports the hot-plugging.
BP Board BP is short for Node B Baseband Processing Board. It takes charge of the baseband processing functions defined by 3GPP. BP, BPH and BPHX are all BP-family boards. They have same function but different capability. If not specified, all BP in the context refers to BP-family board.

Panel
The panel of the FNB board is as shown in Figure 7. On the panel, one interface is provided to connect the dedicated cable and provide the external trunk-node signal and fast Ethernet signal.

Jumpers and DIP Switches
When jumper cap connects the first and second pins of XJ1 – XJ8, ETTB board works in 75 Ω E1 transmission mode.
When jumper cap connects the second and third pins of XJ1 – XJ8, ETTB board works in 120 Ω E1 or T1 transmission mode.
Power Module DC Power Module
The appearance of the DC power module is as shown in Figure 9.

Cable Connection
The BPWA/BPWC cable is connected from the BPWC DC power distribution box to the BPWA DC power input.
DC Power Cable Purpose
The DC power cable is configured when the system uses -48 V DC power supply. It leads external -48V DC power supply to BBUB.
Appearance
-48 V DC power cable is a 2-core 1 mm2 polyvinyl chloride jacket power supply. -48 V power cable (blue) and the grounding cable (black) are required. The appearance of the DC power cable is as shown in Figure 17. D-model plug lies at End B (BBUB end).

External Interfaces and Ethernet Cable Purpose
The External interface and Ethernet cable are used to connect BBUB to Ethernet, dry contacts or RS232/RS485 equipment.
Appearance
The appearance of the external interface and Ethernet cable are as shown in Figure 21. The connector at End B (BBUB end) is DB36 connector. The connectors at End A are five RJ 45 sockets.

Cable Connection
From GPS antenna to the GPS interface on CCI board.
Fiber Cable Purpose
The fiber cable is the physical medium in Iub or RRU interface.
Fiber cable connects BBUB and RNC as Iub interface;
Fiber cable transmits RRU signals, and connects BBUB and RRU;
Fiber cable is used in cascaded Node B. It connects BBUB and lower Node B.
Appearance
The appearance of the fiber cable appearance of Iub interface/cascaded Node B is as shown in Figure 23. The connectors at End A and End B are both LC-model optical connector (IEC874).
