Students were able to find out about the courses we have on offer and get a taste of what life is like for a Cowes Enterprise College Sixth Form student. All subjects offered were represented so that our visitors could talk to staff and students about the qualificaons, style of work involved and what is required to be successful. Mr Peckham delivered a presentaon and there was informaon available about the new A level marine career / high –performance pathway. There were tours of the sixth form facilies and the feedback we received from the large number of visitors was very posive. One parent said “We have had a lovely evening; my daughter is spoilt for choice. I really like the new Marine pathway opon, I would have loved it to have been available when my son was going into year 12”. A massive thank you to Mrs Ramsey for organising the event and to all of the teachers and Sixth Form students who stayed late to help out. There are pictures of the event on the next two pages. Privilege Seat Applicaons – 3 rd Round – 7 th November unl end of Academic Year The following message is from the Isle of Wight Council School Transport Service Please note: This informaon does not apply to students who have already applied for a privilege seat for the academic year 2016/17 during the 1 st or 2 nd rounds or those who are currently on a waing list. This informaon only applies to those who have not applied for a privilege seat this academic year. If you have already purchased a privilege seat for the autumn term, you will be contacted separately with regards to renewing the cket. Should you wish for your child to travel on a Council contracted school bus service please apply for a privilege seat. The 3 rd round starts from 9am on Monday 7th November 2016 unl the end of the current academic year. This includes all primary, secondary and sixth form students. Sixth Form Open Evening

There was a very warm welcome to our visitors, who attended our Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday night. Students were able to find out about the courses we have on offer and get a taste of what life is like for a Cowes Enterprise College Sixth Form student. All subjects offered were represented so that our visitors could

talk to staff and students about the qualifications, style of work involved and what is required to be successful. Mr

Privilege Seat Applications – 3rd Round – 7th November until end of Academic Year

Please note: This information does not apply to students who have already applied for a privilege seat for the academic year 2016/17

during the 1st or 2nd rounds or those who are currently on a waiting list. This information only applies to those who have not applied for

a privilege seat this academic year. If you have already purchased a privilege seat for the autumn term, you will be contacted separately

Show My Homework- Due to timetable changes at the beginning of this half-term, the most recent piece

of homework set to students might not be recorded as submitted correctly on Show My Homework. This will only affect homework set at the very end of last half-

term and due at the beginning of this half-term.

It's nearly that time of year again... The Cowes Enterprise College Christmas Market!

Friday 9th December 4-7pm- all are welcome.

If you or anybody you know would like to run a stall at our Christmas Market, so that you can sell your crafts, gifts or

similar, please email Miss Collis at [email protected] or call us on 01983

203103.

We only have a limited number of stalls available so please get in touch with us soon! There is a small cost attached of £5

per stall (this will need to be paid before the Christmas Market).

Business Coursework Support

Miss Gibson is starting a Business Coursework Support Club on

Tuesdays and Thursdays in ED12 until 3.45pm. The Club can be used

as either a drop-in session for students

to get one-to-one help or students can

stay for the hour to use ICT facilities to

complete their coursework.

Year 7 Disco

The Year 7 Christmas Disco will be on Friday 9th December between 7-

9pm. Tickets are £2 each and available from Miss Gibson in the morn-

ing at 8.25am in the creative area. If you are happy for your child to

make their own way home from the

disco, please can you put this in writing

and hand it in with the money. The

Year 7 Disco has been organised by

Miss Gibson and D of E students to

raise money for their D of E Award.

SCIENCE CONTROLLED ASSESSMENTS – YEAR 11

Please be aware that from the 7th November, Year 11 Additional Scientists will be completing their Controlled Assessments which are worth 25% of their total GCSE mark.

New Scholastic Catalogue

The latest catalogue from Scholastic is now available at http://clubs-school.scholastic.co.uk/cowes-enterprise or there are paper copies of the catalogue available in the library. There are some amazing bargains on offer, such as ’The Gaunlet’ for only £3.99 by Eoin Colfer – author of ‘Artemis Fowl’ - who has linked up with Marvel to write an Iron Man story.

Orders should be placed online, please, by 14th November 2016. After this date, Scholastic will collate the orders and send them to Mrs Kelly for distribution to your children. If your order is a gift and you don’t want your child to see it – please let Mrs Kelly know ([email protected]) and she will contact you when the order is ready to collect.

Our Fantastic Mathematicians

Congratulations to our super Mathematicians Thomas Coates-Evans and Will Jubb who achieved fantastic results in the end of Year 10 AQA Maths exam. Their scores were the highest in the whole Ormiston Academy chain of 30 schools – an amazing achievement and everyone at the Academy is very proud of them.
