INTRODUCTION

• Site may define as geographical location where Pharmaceutical Plants are situated and operated.

• Plant may define as Physical block or building on site, engaged in the manufacturing Process.

• Security- The state of being free from danger or injury.

SECURITY PERSONNEL

Security Manager

Appointed by Management, Capable of handling plant security.

Trained person, Previous experience in Police or defence.

Written job description, job profile and expectations.

Freedom to evaluate the security requirements.

Security Staff

Sufficient Staff, trained, defence and police experience is desirable.

ENTRY TO SITE

Security Measures

Perimeter fence, Concrete/brick wall, wire fencing.

Security lights, Mercury/Sodium lamp street lights, Search lights on security tower.

Limited and restricted entry in Production and Storage area.

Sufficient and limited gates and lockable.

Armed Security guards on day-night patroling.

Security dogs for night patrol.

ENTRY TO PLANT BUILDINGS

Content important for deciding the Security Level

Robust outside door

Good quality locks

Inaccessible windows

Burglar alarms

Restriction and controlled entry to Vital area

Sterile products, manufacturing area, high cost items storage.

High security and alarm system at this areas.

INTERNAL SECURITY

Locking of areas & Key storage.

Restricted area - for authorised personnel only.

Control on unnecessary staff movement.

Control on Visitors & Customers.

Random physical checking.

Searching of staff on leaving the premises.

Particular attention on vehicles leaving and entering the premises.

Current Issue

Major issue is Theft, while construction/Project stage.
