Students have a list of geometric criteria for their plan as well as a budget! 3rd graders continue practicing the relationship between multiplication and division facts! They are practicing multiplication and division facts using arrays, cubes, and games. They also continue to practice and apply geometry concepts through a "Dream Home" design project. Science Swishy circuits light up a room 6! Young engineers and scientists continue to investigate many physical science concepts building circuits with organic conductors and insulators! They are building circuits without wire! The artistic squishy circuits won't last long, so students are documenting their projects with photographs, journal entries, and imovies. All Aboard! History 3rd grade students finished to writing their Venn diagrams about Early and Present Sausalito History using their knowledge from field trips, class discussions, and Sausalito history books. They are reading, and writing about their two favorite characters in the Sausalito history, and their next step will be to write an interview with one of their favorite characters. In their final Timecast project, they will record the interview. Each 4th grade student is taking on the role of “a teacher” as they each research a significant event in California's history from the mission system through the Mexican American War. After students complete their research, an expository paragraph, and an info poster about their topic for the timeline, they will teach the rest of the fourth graders what they learned. The essential question that they will answer with their research is: In what ways did the historical events you read about for the Expert Jigsaw influence or change the course of California's history: its people, economy, environment, the government? Their work will added to the always expanding historical timeline hanging from the ceiling in our classroom. Reading Homework As you read with your child at home, think about adding these prompts to deepen your book talks and support what your child is learning at school. In fiction: I think the lesson in the story is___ because the author wrote… the character said… the character did.. the thought... I think the main character is (character trait) because... author wrote… the character said… the character did.. the thought... In nonfiction In paragraph __(number) the author states___.... This makes me think... This shows that... The photo (any informational text feature; illustration, chart, graph, diagram, caption, etc.) shows that… For example the author says… According to the article or story by (author’s name)…
