Vacuum interrupters do not contain a medium that can be ionized, so the switch-ing behavior is determined by the material the contacts are made of. We therefore place extremely high demands on this material

Equipped for all switching applicationsSION vacuum circuit-breakers have low chopping currents, are restrike-free, and switch normal and short-circuit currents, which means they can be used for all switching applications.
As the core component, the maintenance-free vacuum interrupters make these mod-ern SION circuit-breakers maintenance free for up to 10,000 operating cycles (option-ally up to 30,000 operation cycles).
Reliable and safe under all conditions SION vacuum circuit-breakers have been developed into highly modern products with a small number of moving components in the arcing chamber. Their extreme reli-ability is among others also proven by the very high mean time to failure (MTTF) values of the vacuum interrupters.
Air insulation makes for optimum cooling during continuous operation, so that the highest possible nominal currents can be reached in the switchgear.
