The following diagram provides an overview of the connection between the machine and the service PC. All devices are connected to the Internet. The ePS Network Server forms the central communications interface and is used to archive data.

Installing ePS Network Services 22.1 This is the general sequence for installing the software

Requirement The installation data for the ePS Network Services software have already been loaded to the PCU hard disk on which the software is to be installed. The software can be downloaded from the Internet.

Note You will require administrator’s rights in order to install and configure the software.

General procedure 1. Start the PCU in the service mode:

2.2 This is how you boot the PCU in service mode

Start service mode New hardware and software is always installed on a PCU in the service mode. The steps for booting the PCU in service mode are described below: 1. Switch on the PCU. 2. When the prompt "Please select the operating system to start:" is displayed, press the

<arrow downwards> KEY until the line below SINUMERIK is highlighted in white. 3. Confirm the selection by pressing the <INPUT> KEY.

The service menu opens:

4. Select the menu option: 4 Start Windows (Service Mode). 5. Then select the menu option:

1 Standard Windows (without starting SINUMERIK HMI) 6. The PCU restarts. 7. When prompted to enter "Password:" Enter your service password.

This password authorizes you to make extensive changes to the control. The password must be entered in upper case letters.

After the PCU has booted in the service mode you can install, uninstall or configure the new software and hardware.

Note If you have already installed a version of ePS Network Services that is older than 2.1 on your system, then you must first uninstall this version. For version 2.1 and higher, you can use the update function.

Starting the installation 1. Start the PCU in service mode (see previous chapter). 2. Start the installation:

The Installation Wizard is started that then navigates you through the installation.

Note Use the tab key to select an option in a window or in a dialog box – and then press the <INPUT> key in order to confirm your selection.

3. Configure Internet Explorer 5.5 ePS Network Services requires Internet Explorer Version 5.5 and later. If an older version is installed on the PCU then you must install Internet Explorer 5.5. See also: Configure Internet Explorer (Page 33).

4. Accept the license agreement Carefully read the license agreement before you accept the conditions (select the option "I accept the terms of the license agreement") and continue the installation. If you are not in agreement with the license agreement, the installation is exited.

5. Select the installation version The size of the installation is identical for both versions.

6. Select an installation version and confirm with "Next". If you want to reenter a setting subsequently, you can use the "Reconfigure" function (see also: This is how you reconfigure ePS Network Services (Page 53)). In the "Standard mode" select the following settings: – Select the control type – Select the hotkey on the screen – Configuration, Internet Explorer Default: For the following settings, the default value in the "Standard mode" is used: – ePS Server URL – Data access type – Data transfer directory and log file directory – Size of the data transfer area – Download bootscript – ePS Client parameters – Synchronize the time between the PLC and HMI (PCU)

Select "Expert mode" in order to select from additional options when installing the software: – Select the control type – Select the hotkey on the screen – ePS Server URL – Configuration, Internet Explorer – Data access type – Data transfer directory and log file directory – Size of the data transfer area – Download bootscript – ePS Client parameters – Synchronize the time between the PLC and HMI (PCU) This installation procedure is described in the following section.

7. Select a control type: Here, please select the control type that you are using.

8. Press "Next" to continue installing the software.

9. Select the installation directory and press "Next".

10. Select the hotkey on the screen A list of softkeys that have still not been assigned is displayed: Level 1 is the first row of keys at the bottom of the screen. The keys are numbered from left to right as softkey 1 to softkey 8.

11. Select a free softkey which is then used to start ePS Network Services. 12. Check the communication addresses

– The address IAC (InterActive Client) defines the Internet access path in order to display the operator interface (screen) of ePS Network Services.

– The access to data communications of ePS Network Services is set using the address MHComm (machine handler communication).

If you have not been provided with any other information, keep these settings and continue with "Next".

13. Configure the proxy server After this prompt, you have the possibility of checking or re-configuring the settings in the Internet Explorer.

14. The following dialog box is opened:

15. Click on the "LAN Settings ..." button in order to activate the selection field "Use a proxy server" in the next dialog box and then enter an IP address and a port.

16. Acknowledge with OK to accept the settings.

NOTICE

If a proxy server is not to be used, then the address field must remain empty. It is not sufficient if the check box is just not activated. The address must have a gray background in the field.

17. Automatic log-on to the proxy server The next two input dialogs define a user who automatically logs on to the proxy server if the PCU is requesting to transfer data to the ePS Network Server.

Note This automatic proxy logon applies only to machine manufacturer logon processes. If a user simultaneously requires an Internet connection then it may be necessary for him to log on again.

18. Check the current settings for the Internet access and set if necessary. An overview of the actual settings for Internet access is then displayed.

19. To continue with the installation press "Next". 20. Select the data access method

In this dialog box you can select the data exchange access method:

21. Select "Next" to use the recommended method. 22. Select the directory paths for the following data (default setting):

Note It is not possible to specify network drives.

23. Press "Next" to confirm the directory under the specified path or enter a new path. 24. Limit the local data volume

If there is an Internet connection error during data transfer to the ePS server, data is locally saved in order to continue data transfer once the connection has been restored. Here, enter the maximum amount of data that should be saved locally.

25. Then press "Next" to continue installation.

Note Option "MAXFILECOUNT" With ePS Server version 4.5.2 and higher, an additional option - "MAXFILECOUNT" - in the settings.ini enables you to limit the number of files in directory MHDTS: [APP] ; Maximum directory size [byte] MAXDIRSIZE = 104857600 ; Maximum "*.DTS" files in folder, additionally "*.TMP" with same amount. MAXFILECOUNT = 1000 The option MAXFILECOUNT is a new feature in ePS Server version 4.5.2. It is compatible with all ePS -pl Client versions. It can be customized via Setup only in a later version of the ePS pl Client software.

26. Select the procedure for downloading the bootscript Select one of the following settings: – "Offline mode ON, no repeated …"

One attempt is made to download the bootscript from the ePS server. If, e.g. if there is no connection to the Internet, then the local bootscript backup is used.

– "Offline mode OFF, the client ..." An attempt is made several times to download the bootscript from the server. No local bootscript is used.

– "Offline mode OFF, no repeated …" Only one attempt is made to download the bootscript from the ePS server. No local bootscript is used.

Note The following applies to the two options "Offline mode OFF, ...": Alarms are not buffered and are therefore lost.

27. Then press "Next" to continue installation.

28. Select parameters for starting ePS Select one of the following settings: – "Deferred startup of ePS client"

Launch of the ePS Client is delayed by the time specified in seconds. – "Slow Internet connection"

The timeout for establishing the Internet connection is increased and the ePS Client waits for a longer period of time until the Internet connection is established before an error message is output. This setting is meaningful in cases where Internet connections take longer to establish (e.g. analog modem, ISDN modem/router).

– "Activate ePS Services" Using this option, the ePS Network Services can be completely de-activated.

– "Automatic start of ePS Network Services" ePS Services is automatically launched when the PCU boots.

– "Suppress ePS Network Services" Suppress the "splash screen" during booting of ePS Network Services.

29. Install mode of ePS Network Services "Install ePS services for Flying HMI": This option enables you to install the ePS Network Services on a PC or PG which can then be connected to different control systems.

30. Synchronize the time between the PLC and HMI (PCU) When an alarm occurs on the HMI (incoming event), then the PLC time is specified. However, the PLC time can deviate from the HMI time on the PCU. The HMI-Advanced software features a function (this is selected with "Commissioning" "PLC" "Set date/time") in order to synchronize these times. ePS Network Services also uses this function. In order to synchronize the times, please set the following parameters: – "TimeAdjustInterval": Time interval (in seconds) after which the HMI software prompts

the PLC for the time and saves the difference. – "TimeReadOK": If the PLC does not respond after the time entered here (in

milliseconds), the HMI software aborts the prompt and attempts again at the next interval.

31. Then press "Next" to continue installation.

2.4 This is how you install the "Flying HMI" option

Application The "Flying HMI" feature enables you to install the ePS Network Services pl Client software on a PC or PG which can then be connected to machines on which the software cannot be installed directly because the HMI software version is not supported (earlier version of HMI, for example).

Procedure When "Flying HMI" is installed, an additional configuration program (ConfigTool.exe) is also loaded. You must call the ConfigTool.exe program manually in order to configure and select individual machines. 1. Install mode of ePS Network Services "Flying HMI"

You can launch ePS Network Services for the relevant HMI by clicking on "Start HMI".

Note The OPI and MPI are the only communication interfaces supported in conjunction with the "Flying HMI" function. Either SINUMERIK 840D/840Di or SIMATIC machines can be connected to a PG/laptop. (It is not possible to operate a mixture of SIMATIC and SINUMERIK 840D/84ODi on a PG/laptop). Machines with an Ethernet connection cannot be managed by means of the "Flying HMI" feature. "Flying HMI" does not support 1:N operation. 1:N machines cannot be operated in "Flying HMI" mode.

CAUTION The user is responsible for ensuring that the HMI is started with the correct machine. If mistakes are made in the connection, the selection or the assignment of the machine, data from real machines can be loaded to ePS database machines with which they were not originally connected.

ePS Network Services requires Internet Explorer Version 5.5 and later. If an older version is installed on the PCU then you must install Internet Explorer 5.5.

NOTICE You should not uninstall the Internet Explorer in order to avoid possible problems with the operating system.

Procedure The following description refers to Internet Explorer V 5.5: 1. Select the "Start Menu" on the PCU using keys <Ctrl> + <Esc>. In order to open the

"Internet Options" window, select "Settings" → "Control Panel" → "Internet Properties".

2. Open the "Security" tab, using the <TAB> and arrow keys in the upper section of the window select the Internet symbol (the globe).

3. Then press the "Custom Level" button and press the <INPUT> key or SPACE BAR.

4. The "Security Settings" dialog box is opened in which you can set the necessary options for handling ActiveX control elements. The setting under "Reset to:" should be set to “Medium”. Check and if required change the settings in the Internet Explorer as shown in the following screenshots:

What is ActiveX? ActiveX is a technology that allows software components to communicate with one another in a networked environment independently of the programming language with which they were developed. Microsoft developed ActiveX with the intention of creating a standard based on Component-Object-Model (COM). What are session cookies? "Session cookies" are transferred when the connection is first set up; however, unlike "Permanent cookies", session cookies are not permanently saved. In order to commission the function "PLC monitors", a STEP 7 project is supplied by ePS Network Services in the form of a ZIP archive.

Procedure The following steps describe how to add PLC blocks to the PLC program. 1. Start the SIMATIC Manager

6. Select PLC blocks Select by double-clicking on "S7 program" followed by "Blocks". You can now transfer the blocks "FC191", "DB239", "DB240" and "DB250" into a project that you created. You will also need the system function blocks "SFC1", "SFC20", "SFC21" and "SFC24" in your S7 program. These blocks are part of the standard STEP 7 library.

Note Before you insert the blocks into your PLC project, check whether the block numbers have already been assigned. If this is the case, you can change the block numbering as required. However, you must adapt your PLC program to take into account these modified block numbers in the following steps.

7. Adapt OB1 To activate PLC Trigger/PLC Trace, open the STL Editor by double-clicking on OB1 and insert, as shown in the diagram, a function call for FC191 in the existing OB1. This call is shown in the following example:

Note The "Trigg_DB" parameter refers to the number of the ePS Trigger DB (default: DB239). The parameter "Trace_Konfig_DB" refers to the number of the ePS Trace Configuration DB (default: DB240). If you have changed the numbers of the data blocks or the FC, you must modify the numbers of the blocks used in this case as well.

SINUMERIK 840D/840Di or 810D + PCU 50/70 with HMI-Advanced After installation, ePS Network Services can be launched with the softkey defined in HMI-Advanced. To do this press <MENU SELECT> followed by the softkey that you defined.

SIMATIC with TRANSLINE 2000 HMI + PCU 50/70 and HMI-Advanced Valid for TRANSLINE 2000 HMI V1.x − V6.x After installation, ePS Network Services can be launched in two different ways: ● By means of the softkey provided in the pre-installed HMI-Advanced when the ePS

Network Services setup is executed. ● By configuring with HMI PRO, ePS Network Services can be launched from the

TRANSLINE 2000 HMI operator interface.

Overview The installation routine of ePS Network Services allows you to update to a new version, repair, re-configure or uninstall ePS Network Services in your machine control.

Procedure In order to call these functions, please proceed as follows: 1. Boot in service mode

Boot the PCU in service mode and launch Windows 2. Call the software configuration menu

– To change the configuration, press <Ctrl> + <Esc> and then "Start" "Settings" → "Control Panel" → "Add/Remove Programs".

– In the list of installed software, select the ePS Network Services entry and select "Add/Remove".

3. Prepare for series commissioning When the machine is registered, a unique ePS machine ID is stored in the Windows registry. In order to create an image of the hard disk for series commissioning, you must remove this machine ID from the Windows registry.
