Pinhole PhotographyPhotographs taken using a pinhole camera, constructed from a matchbox. By recording the time exposures on an initial test, I was able to return at a later date and capture shots.

Futura BurntTo create a typeface solely using no digital means I decided to stencil the typeface ‘Futura’ out and then use ash to print the stencil. This created a textured piece of work whilst keeping within the set limitations.

Three Minute PresentationTo introduce ourselves to our third year tutors we were asked to give a three minute long presentation about ourselves. I designed my presentation to solely include facts about myself and the number three, which gradually created the number over the course of the three minutes.

Twitter Trend Information GraphicI created an information graphic everyday throughout February as I have always been fascinated at the speed in which they change and the broad topic matter. I wanted to mark what was trending at 11am to see if there were any patterns. To view all graphics: www.toptrendingtopic.co.uk

Twitter in a permanent environment

Twitter TrendsAs part of my Final Major Project I wanted to experiment with how Twitter trends would convey once placed into more permanent environments. I selected trends and then printed them onto everyday home items. Once I had photographed them I placed handwritten type to provide more information.

A Selection of Twitters Most Re-tweeted TweetsWhilst recording Twitter trends for my information graphics I also noted down the most re-tweeted tweets from November to March to create a book. I turned the book on its side to replicate the scrolling motion users do, when reading through Twitters trend feeds.

Sony Christmas in JulyA piece of client work I produced under the guidance of Tom Actman, Creative Director at Mat Dolphin. The brief was to design an electronic email invitation for Sony’s Christmas in July event. After my placement I designed what the event could look like using vinyl stickers on the walls of The Music Room.

LippincottA 4 month placement taken over different periods between my first and second year at University. During my time at Lippincott I was given the opportunity to work on live briefs, for example a customer experience map for a client to use within their company, under the guidance of Lippincott’s designers and brand strategists. I was also able to sit in during mind-share conference meetings with the American office which gave me an understanding of how the company transferred and presented work between the two offices. Whilst I was at Lippincott I participated in a presentation and pitch training session which I found extremely useful as an insight into the professional working world. I felt this placement was incredibly rewarding and I believe it not only enhanced my skills as a designer, but as a professional working person.

Big FishA placement lasting 3 months over a period of 6 months, during my second year at University. At Big Fish I created packaging mock-ups for clients, assisted on photo shoots, edited photographs ready for web and image sourced for clients. During one week I was assisting the web team in which I learnt the role of a web designer and some basic HTML coding. I thoroughly enjoyed this placement, and found that due to the varied nature of the tasks I was given from account managers, designers, photographers and art workers, it gave me a great insight and understanding into how a creative design agency operates.

Client projects I assisted on:-Steve’s Leaves-Dorset Cereals -Gü Puddings-Tyrrells Crisps

Mat DolphinA 2 week placement in which I gained an invaluable amount of experience. Working under the guidance of Founder and Creative Director Tom Actman I was trusted to email and phone clients regarding details to on-going projects. Whilst at this placement I also gained experience in how to communicate ideas effectively to the client. I was given exciting opportunities to work on and contribute ideas to live projects, which significantly helped me gain confidence with my own abilities. One of the most beneficial aspects learnt whilst on this placement was the importance of time management and working to deadlines.

Client Projects I worked on:-Sony Summer in Christmas Invitation — Concept, design and layout, final artwork-Bush Theatre Promotional Material for various plays — Concepts
