1974Skema was founded with the mission to become one of the leading interna-tional players in the design, engineering, manufacturing and installation of medium and low voltage switchgear and MCCs.

1984Skema works on the

Platform Barbara project in the Adriatic Sea,

the first of a series of jobs supplying offshore

Skema’s design, engineering and

man agement operations are located at

the headquarters in Cesano Maderno,

just 20 km north of Milan. This is

the place where project manage-

ment is carried out, where custom

solutions are conceived and where

support functions (administra-

tion, human resources, purchas-

ing and logistics) are implemented.

Just a few kilometers from Cesano

Maderno, in the plant at Bovisio

Masciago, Skema’s products are man-

ufactured, stocked and assembled.

The same location hosts also

a ded ica ted t ra in ing fac i l i -

ty where technicians from all

over the world undergo special-

ist training. In the Yard in Ravenna

(on the Adriatic Sea, south of Venice),

local equipment rooms, modules and

pack ages substations are fabricated.

MoDULAR SUBSTATIoNS – They

can be used for a wide variety of

applications including MV/LV pack-

aged substations, local equipment

rooms, control rooms, generator

power plant rooms, personnel ref-

uges and as general process or util-

ity buildings. Fully assembled and

rigorously tested within Skema facili-

ties, they are shipped to site by land,

sea or air, ready for rapid installa-

tion and commissioning. As the EPC

contractor Skema manages, coordi-

nates and monitors every aspect of

the project: detailed design, project

management, scheduling, procure-

ment, expediting, QA/HSE, docu-

mentation, fabrication, all multidisci-

plinary installation activities, testing

and pre-commissioning.

MV AND LV SwITCHGEAR – Skema

is a leading supplier of Medium and

Low Voltage Switchgear for the Oil &

Gas fields, offshore platforms, pow-

er plants, utility and industrial facili-

ties, marine applications. The main

technical features are: withdrawa-

ble and fixed functional units, ful-

ly insulated and segregated bus-

bar system, internal arc proof, form

4 construction up to Type 7, seis-

mic, shock and vibration tested to

withstand extreme operating condi-

tions. It can be supplied with tem-

perature monitoring and arc flash

detection systems. Skema’s switch-

gear is fully compliant and has been

tested by independent laboratories

in compliance with IEC 61439-1.

IPCS – Combination of software

and hardware specially designed to

control & monitor electrical power

generation and distribution plants.

It controls the individual switchgear

equipment, the substation and the

plant; acquires data from all types

of instrumentation using any proto-

cols; allows the immediate trans-

mission of commands from the

supervisor; displays very detailed

graphics and touch-screen inter-

face; records consumption; analyz-

ables the operator to change the

setting of the protection relays;
