Sign In Procedures

Please sign-in upon arrival and sign-out upon

exiting the building . Member sign-in is located in

the foyer and guest sign-in is located in the office.

Van Transportation

Van transportation is available to members on a first call, first reserved basis. Please call the office to make or to cancel a reservation. To help defray the cost of transportation, a suggested donation

of $1 each way is greatly appreciated.

Shopping is available four afternoons each week. Shoppers leave from the Center at 1:00 p.m. for

an hour at the store and are then taken home.

The mission of Clarence Senior Citizens, Inc. is to provide social, recreational, educational, and nutritional programs, as well as opportunities for

volunteerism, to persons in the community who are fifty-five and older.

Twelve Days of Christmas at the Center

From December 9th through December 24th, we will

be giving a special gift to one lucky winner each day.

Any participants in the Erie County lunch program

that day will be eligible to win a gift.

The Joy of Giving

Beginning at our tree trimming party, we will collect

non-perishable food items for the Clarence Food

Pantry. We are also a collection site of children’s

toys for the Clarence Youth Board’s Angel Project.

Holistic & Mindful Cooking Monday, December 1st

1:30 p.m.

Healthy cooking in the kitchen starts with a good

shopping list. Dr. Parisima Sobhani will teach you

how to identify harmful and healthy ingredients,

make healthier shopping selections, decide which

preservatives and ingredients to avoid, find simple

ways to add nutrient-dense foods to your menu,

and new ways to prepare meals.

Volunteering is a great way to make friends, have fun

A Bob Poczik Presentation:

“The Children's Blizzard” Tuesday, December 2nd

1:30 p.m.

This program is based on the book “The Children's

Blizzard”, a gripping story of a monstrous storm that

caught the Midwest by surprise in the 1800’s and was

especially fatal to children walking home from one-room

schoolhouses across the Midwest. It also includes

interesting information about immigrants and

the settling of the heartland of the U.S.

Free Zumba Classes Thursday, December 4th

9:00 a.m.

If you are looking for a workout that`s fun and exciting,

look no further! Zumba fuses Latin rhythms and easy to

follow dance moves that work your entire body.

We are offering three FREE weeks of Zumba, on

December 4th, 11th and 18th, with our new instructor,

Holly Kerr, who is certified as a Zumba Gold instructor.

This afternoon, we will gather in the kitchen to cut out

and bake cookies for the cookie decorating and sing

Mexican Train Dominoes Wednesday, December 10th

Mexican Train Dominoes is a wonderful game of skill

and strategy. Our domino players have a great time

socializing while trying their skill at “de-railing” their

opponents. CSC member Kathy Tepas will help you

learn the basics of this fun and entertaining game.

Immigrants Ancestry Tuesday, December 9th

1:30 p.m.

Angelo Coniglio will discuss the use of original records

from ancestral towns to develop the immigrants'

ancestry, showing images of actual records from

as early as the 1700s. This presentation is two

hours with a break taken after the first hour.

This group meets the second Tuesday of each month.

We enjoy socializing, sharing ideas and helpful

“One on One” Technology Assistance Wednesday, December 10th

Clarence Youth Bureau volunteers will be here to help with

questions and issues and help you familiarize yourself

with your technology. Bring your phones, laptops,

tablets and sit one on one with a youth volunteer.

The Youth Bureau volunteers will also be here on

Wednesday, December 17th from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Instructor and demonstrator Diane Carr will assist you

members from the Lancaster Senior Center. Come to

Blizzard of 1977 Wednesday, January 28th

11:00 a.m.

The Blizzard of 1977 was a deadly blizzard that hit

the Western NYS area, upstate NY and Southern

Ontario from January 28 to February 1, 1977.

Share your pictures and memories of the blizzard.

Please bring in your photos (five or less)

by January 1st so we can make a video to share.

Also, join us on the 28th to share the stories

behind the pictures. Following, we will have

a make your own sundae bar.

AARP Smart Driver Course 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The AARP Driving Course is a great way to save

money on your auto insurance! Cost is $20.00

for AARP members and $25.00 for non-AARP

members. Starting in 2015, payments are to be

made to the instructor the day of scheduled course. 2015 Class Dates:

There is a group of dedicated Center members who pick the donated baked goods up at Tops, Dash’s, and Paneras.

Without their help you would not be enjoying the sweets that are placed out daily and the specialty breads on

Mondays and Wednesday. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Mary Hauscherr, Galen and Barb Weaver, Jack Meldrum,

Joe Raimondo, Pam Machniak, Gary and Mary Lou Lesser, Paul Corbelli and Donald Marinelli. There is also a

changing group of volunteers, led by Joan Pionessa and Rosemund Ruhland, who prepare these baked goods and

Paula’s Donuts for distribution to members. Other members help in the kitchen and dining room.

If you would like to volunteer to help, let the office know. Any help would be greatly appreciated and is much needed to keep the baked goods coming to the Center. Volunteers are especially needed after special luncheons for clean up.

When you see these volunteers working, please thank them, and, again, be one of those who show their appreciation for everything offered at the Center

by being a volunteer!

A 2010 graduate of Clarence High School Joseph Mohan

is now continuing his education at The Julliard School.

Joseph has won numerous national and international

piano competitions, including the BPO Idol with

Marvin Hamlisch. Joseph will perform a variety of pieces.

General's Office will discuss identity and medical theft.

Karen will discuss why older Americans are the new target

victims of identity theft and that trends show more elder

Americans are targeted for their medical identities.

Karen will also discuss scams and frauds directed

towards senior populations, what you can do to

stop these threats and how to protect yourself.

member use. Before using these computers for the

first time, members must sign the Computer

User Agreement available in the office.

assist Center members with computer use

The CSC is a drop off site for donations for our

military troops. Many thanks to the Clarence

American Legion Auxiliary 838 for assembling

the packages and getting them to the soldiers.

Suggested Items:

Travel size soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions &

creams, disposable razors, hand sanitizer, lip balm,

sun block, small combs, small pkgs. of tissues, pens,

pencils, note pads, small hand held games, playing

cards, puzzle books, gum, hard candy, black socks.

Monetary donations are also needed and appreciated.

As a 501 (c)(3) charitable not-for-profit

organization, Clarence Senior Citizens, Inc. is able to accept tax deductible

contributions. .Honor a special person by making a memorial donation.

Your donation will help to make a difference in the lives of seniors by supporting

a wide range of programs provided at the Clarence Senior Center.

The BPO Brass Quartet Tuesday, December 9th at 2:00 p.m.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Brass Quartet will perform classics and Americana pieces.

Light refreshments will be served after the performance. Don’t miss this amazing performance!

This is a free event.

Genealogy: Immigrants Ancestry Tuesday, December 16th at 1:30 p.m.

Angelo Coniglio will discuss the use of original records from ancestral towns to develop the

immigrants' ancestry, showing images of actual records from as early as the 1700s. This

presentation is two hours with a break taken after the first hour.
