Introduction

The City of Cambridge located roughly 100km west of Toronto was seeing an increase in drugs and crime. Especially so in public areas, parking lots, and pedestrian walkways

Use Siklu Globally

• The city owned a decent fiber footprint but it did not cover the areas the cameras were needed

• The network design needed to be adaptable to expand in the future

• Extra capacity was needed for additional applications in the future such as public WiFi

SolutionChallenge Results

• 5GHz was considered but interference was already substantial, and only increasing over time

• 60GHz EtherHaul radios from Siklu were deployed offering a full Gbps of capacity

• 6 radios were co-located in a clock tower with zero self interference, and none from the city at large

• Phase 1 deployment supports 10 cameras

• A car theft ring was apprehended and overall crime has dropped since deployment

• Phase 2 in planning

• Network is providing “high up time and excellent quality”
