Composer, teacher, performer and church musician, Stephanie Martin has contributed tothe Toronto’s colourful music scene for 25 years. As Artistic Director of Pax Christi Choralesince 1996, Martin has led this 85-voice choral group in memorable performances of thegreat works of the Oratorio repertoire. Recently in Vancouver, she received an honorarymembership in the Elgar Society, and holds the distinction of being the first Canadian womanto conduct a full performance of Elgar’s "Dream of Gerontius". Martin served as Music Directorof the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Toronto for six years, where she recordedseveral of Healey Willan’s “lost” manuscripts. Resident women’s chant group Schola Magdalenarecorded their first CD "O Gracious Light". Associate Professor of music at York University,Martin holds degrees from the University of Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier University, and is anAssociate of the Royal Canadian College of Organists.
