  • Sustainability Calculator for Industrial Areas & Climate Expert Tool

Mrs. Elisabeth DUERR, GIZ, Project: COPLAN, Mexico & Mrs. Sylvia Maria von STIEGLITZ, Project PSACC, Germany

  • Tools and mechanisms to facilitate

    the implementationof adaptation

and mitigation measures in Industrial Areas

  • Fostering sustainability and resilience for the private sector

    1. To foster private industrial zone´s investment in sustainability measures, tools must provide convincing arguments following the investment logic of companies, demonstrating the economic benefit of investments

    2. Industrial Zone Managers as promoter for Adaptation to climate change in Industries reinforce both

    a) the resilience of industrial zones - e.g. of common servicesand infrastructures

    b) the resilience of companies (at the internal level)

  • Sustainability Calculator for Industrial Areas

Climate Change is noticeable in Mexico and Central America

However, not enough data on its future impact is available for estimating general economic benefits of ACC for industrial areas

Risk management strategies may include ACC measures

  • Sustainability Calculator - ObjectiveObjective:Foster investment in sustainability measures by providing an online tool fordevelopers and managers of industrial zones that estimates the potentialeconomic benefit of specific investments, embedded in a website withfurther information

  • Sustainability Calculator Inclusion of Climate Change Related Measures

    1. Specific measures for energy efficiency and inclusion of renewable energies

    2. Specific measures to enhance water efficiency (water harvesting, reusing of waste water)

    3. General analysis of resource efficiency4. General analysis of risks

but: focus on mitigation, not on adaptation/resilience, due to lack of data availability
