should you attend optometry's meeting in seattle?
TRANSCRIPT
Trade Shows. Some of us love them, and some of us hatethem, but they are a big part of being in theoptical industry. Whether you're an OD,
optician, office manager, or student, decidingto go to any trade show is a big decision. So weput together a few questions that you shouldask yourself to determine if you should attendOptometry's Meeting this June in Seattle.
Education is probably the #1 reason most attendeescome to a show. Highlights at this year's show include:
Pharmacology in Your Practice
OD Talks: A Look Into the Future - 3D printing, social trends,
and innovations in technology
OD Crossfire Series - Open format to debate and challenge the
current treatment and diagnostic challenges of anterior
segment, retina, post-operative management, contact lenses,
and glaucoma.
Interactive Education
Hands-On Workshops - Topics include gonioscopy, scleral
lenses, laser therapy, injections, and amniotic membranes.
Specialty Education
Equipment, instruments, and software for
your practice don't typically come with a
small price tag, which also means the
buying process is a little more in depth.
Coming to a show allows you time to talk
to all of the big vendors in one location so
that you can compare systems and
equipment while getting all of your
questions answered.
Optometry's Meeting is a great show to attend if you're a
student. With tons of student events, including the Varilux
Student Bowl, you'll have plenty of time to network and learn
more about the industry!
If it has been 3 or more years since you
have attended any industry show, it
might be a good time to make an
appearance. Technology is constantly
changing and what was popular 3
years ago might be irrelevant today. So
make sure you're staying up-to-date
and keeping your practice modern!
Mt. Rainier is the highest mountain in the state of Washington,
and just so happens to be a beautiful backdrop for the city of
Seattle. If you like the outdoors, the mountain and surrounding
areas provide tons of recreational activities!
Pike Place Market is probably one of the most iconic places in
all of Seattle. It is one of the country's oldest farmer's markets
where you can find specialty foods, dining, crafts, collectibles,
and if you're feeling up for it you might even be able to catch a
fish!
After checking out the home schedule, the Seattle Mariners have a
home series lined up during Optometry's Meeting, from June 22nd
to June 24th. So if baseball is your jam, make sure to add this to
your calendar!
Just to name a few more Seattle
highlights. If you're looking for some
family fun, the Seattle Aquarium,
Woodland Park Zoo, and Chihuly
Garden and Glass are all great
options. While the Aquarium and Zoo
are self explanatory, the Chihuly
Garden and Glass is a museum
featuring the works of Dale Chihuly,
who has led the avant-garde in the
development of glass as a fine art.
Did the combination of professional
development and a fun city help
