WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?Passport & Visa Costs – individual students are responsible for the cost of passport and visa applications. Visa application costs and procedures vary from country to country. Details are available from our office.Life’s Little Extras – while you are away, your host family will provide you with food and accommodation. However, you will need to take some extra spending money for some of life’s little extras. Make sure you have enough for any purchases you may need including personal items, telephone bills, text books, school uniforms, gifts for family and friends and any optional excursions you may take during your time away. We recommend between A$250 - $350 a month for most destinations.

PRICE GUARANTEEWe reserve the right to increase program prices at any time. However, we guarantee that once you have submitted your application and paid your A$500 deposit the published price is protected from increase. That means no nasty surprises in the event of currency fluctuations or increases in airfares.

INSURANCEIncluded in your program fee is a fully comprehensive insurance policy. The policy can be viewed in full on our website and covers a variety of health, medical, accident, personal liability, cancellation and baggage claims.

MASTERCARD MULTI-CURRENCY CASH PASSPORT CARDAll students are provided with a MasterCard multi-currency Cash Passport card. The card offers a secure and convenient way to manage your money whilst overseas.

3 LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to your completed application form, applicants must write a 1000 word essay that tells “Why learning another language appeals to you”. The application and essay must also be accompanied by a language teacher’s recommendation form, which may be downloaded from our website at www.studentexchange.org.au Deadlines are as noted to the left.

3 INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to your completed application form, applicants must write a 1000 word essay. If you’re in year 9 or 10, the essay is to take the form of a letter starting with “Dear Prime Minister…” and must address a matter of international importance such as the environment or human rights, for example. If you’re in year 11 or 12 the essay is to address a topic of international importance but does not need to be in the form of a letter.

3 VOLUNTEER AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to your completed application form, applicants must write a 1000 word essay entitled “My contribution to my local community and how I am making a difference to the people around me.” Please see our website for a full list of categories. The essay must also be accompanied by a Community Reference Recommendation Form, which can be downloaded from the website.

3 DIGITAL VIDEO SCHOLARSHIPS

Get creative! Applicants must accompany their completed application form with a brief video (maximum 3 minutes) that tells “My story and why I want to go on exchange”. Entries will be judged on their creative use of the media, storytelling skills and content. Video entries must be uploaded to our website by the relevant deadline.

2 AUSTRALIAN AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition to your completed application form, applicants must write a 1000 word essay. If you’re in year 9 or 10, the essay is to be entitled ‘What diversity means to me”. If you’re in year 11 or 12 the essay is to be entitled ‘What I think makes a Global Citizen”.

Unsuccessful scholarship entrants will automatically be entitled to an Early Bird Discount for the applicable program.
