In addition to the headquarters of several companies located in the region of Vila Olímpia and surrounding areas, visitors who want to get to know São Paulo nightlife will find a huge number of nightclubs that operate all night long and have schedules ranging from samba to rock, including MPB and jazz concerts and ending with presentations of DJs specialized in electronic music.
Ibirapuera, the most important and visited park of the city, has several leisure options for the whole family. In addition to the physical activity areas, there are several important cultural centers, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the Fundação Bienal, the Ibirapuera Auditorium, with a wide range of concerts, the OCA, the Afro-Brazilian Museum and the Japanese Pavilion, a space for the eastern culture. Next to the park, you can also visit the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) and the Mausoleum Obelisk to the Heroes of 1932.
Ibirapuera Park
The city’s postcard and one of the most important museums of the Southern Hemisphere, the Assis Chateaubriand Art Museum of São Paulo or MASP, as it is known, surprises the locals and tourists with a collection of 8 thousand pieces of renowned artists, such as Cândido Portinari, Goya, Delacroix, Renoir and Monet. There are also temporary exhibitions, which involve the most different themes. Its building, designed by modernist architect Lina Bo Bardi, is a reference. On Sundays, its free space receives an antique market with several articles, with a guarantee of authenticity.
MASP
One of the largest supply centers in the city is famous for having a great diversity of fruits, as well as other types of goods such as cheese, spices, seafood, exotic meats and wines. The building, with stained glasses and a beautiful architectural style, is a great place for a snack or lunch. In the mezzanine, there are restaurants with delicious delicacies, the most famous being the mortadella sandwich and the codfish pastry. The so-called Mercadão is located near Rua 25 de Março. Nearby is the “Catavento Cultural e Educacional”.

ENJOY THE INTENSE CULTURAL LIFE
The cultural program of the city is filled with good options throughout
the year. Whether it be for exhibits, concerts, plays or musicals, it is
possible to schedule an event every day and even then, not have
a weekend like the other. It is common that international exhibits
reach a record audience here. So do not postpone it: plan the
events according to your interests and enjoy!
ENJOY A WEEkEND AT IBIRAPUERA PARk
It is the paulistano’s beach. It is worthwhile to
walk, ride your bike, sit by the lake or enjoy
one of its many museums and cultural centers.
Sunday is usually the day of greatest visit but
it is also the day that concentrates a special
program like, for example, concerts.
BREAkFAST AT A ‘PADOCA’
We have an affective relationship with
the bakeries, or “padocas”, as they are
known here. On weekends, they get
crowded at breakfast time. Some offer
delicious catering service that is usually
served until late so as to serve the most
sleepyhead, but the most frequent order
is the “paulistano” pair: the griddled bread
and the “pingado”.
OPEN PAULISTA ON SUNDAYS
After a good breakfast at the
bakery, the São Paulo locals will
enjoy a bit of the heart of the
city. Avenida Paulista on Sundays
is open only to pedestrians,
attracting musicians, storytelling
groups, soap bubbles makers,
cyclists, skaters and lots of fun.
PASTRY AND SUGAR CANE
JUICE IN A FREE MARkET
A free market day is a pastry
eating day! Whether standing
in front of a tent or seated in a
little bench. As earlier you get
there, more options of flavours
you will find. You can also enjoy
a sugar cane juice. One of the
favorite markets is located
in front of the Pacaembu
Stadium, and happens in a few
days of the week, but there are
other great choices around the
whole city during the week.
THE BOHEMIA AT VILA MADALENA AND PARTY AT AUGUSTA
In the midst of day-to-day rush, Paulistas always take time to meet friends and have
some fun. The Vila Madalena bars or the night clubs of Baixo Augusta are usually
places with full glasses and easy laughting.
Located in the Pacaembu Stadium, it has a multimedia and interactive collection that preserves the main and most important moments of national football, relating them to the country and world’s historical context. The exhibition rooms share three concepts that guide the visit: emotion, history and fun. More than information on sports, the Football Museum is, above all, a museum about the history of the Brazilian people and about its most striking cultural manifestation.

São Paulo is surprising. As the largests
global metropolises, the capital of São
Paulo is marked by strong urbanization
and vast business, leisure and
entertainment options. Latin America’s
economic center, São Paulo is home
to some of the largest corporations
in the world and is destination for
the main events of international
repercussion. The cultural agenda is
a spectacle apart. The city has dozens
of museums, theaters, movie theaters,
libraries, concert halls and cultural
centers. Often, it populates the people’s
imaginary as a gray and concrete city.
And that’s where São Paulo surprises us!
EnjoySão Paulo!
how to feel like a “paulistano”Whether it is for the locals or for those who came from abroad, being a “paulistano” is a multifaceted state of mind that
mixes the rush so as not to get late with the calmness of a draft beer after a day of work. What, then, can be considered
a São Paulo experience? Being a São Paulo citizen means being, at the same time, very Brazilian and global.

e Located in the heart of the city and near to the sophisticated Jardins district and to the up-to-date Rua Augusta, the centennial avenue has become the portrait of São Paulo’s economic history and is one of the capital’s main financial and cultural centers. Thousands of people circulate around that site every day, and the hectic work atmosphere felt during the week becomes festive and relaxed on Saturdays and Sundays. Amidst the modern buildings is the historic Casa das Rosas of the 1930s and the the tranquility of the Trianon Park. Besides having several options of shops and restaurants, it is the stage of great events and breathes lots of culture in MASP, Centro Cultural FIESP and Itaú Cultural. Located at the farthest southern end of the city, it is formed by the districts of Parelheiros and Marsilac and by the Ilha do Bororé. Far from the urban center, it has countryside airs. The two Environmental Protection Areas in the Capivari-Monos and Bororé-Colônia areas represent 20% of the São Paulo map, covered by miles of pristine Atlantic Forest, rivers and clear waterfalls. The region is also a great historical patrimony. Its churches, temples, buildings, cemeteries and cultural centers tell lots of history of the adventures lived by immigrants, especially Germans and Japaneses, who were part of the colonization of São Paulo. The region of Luz concentrates several historical and cultural attractions of São Paulo. The Júlio Prestes Station, the main way for the coffee transportation in São Paulo at the beginning of the 20th century, now houses the Sala São Paulo, considered the best concert hall in Latin America. The Luz Station has an English inspiration and, just in front of it, is the Pinacoteca do Estado. In its collection, there are about one hundred thousand works, including pieces by artists like Tarsila do Amaral, Portinari and Rodin. A delicious cafe overlooking Parque da Luz is the ideal place for a break between the works of art. On the opposite side of the avenue is the Luz Monastery, where the Sacred Art Museum, the Chapel and the Frei Galvão (the first Brazilian saint) Memorial are located.
The most oriental neighborhood of the city is themed with traditional Japanese flashlights, which decorate most of the streets and the Torii - a red portal - at Rua Galvão Bueno. Among the attractions are the Japanese Immigration Museum, the Busshinji Temple, restaurants and typical souvenirs, as well as bookstores and eastern shops. Parties such as Tanabata Matsuri (Star Festival) and Chinese New Year liven up the streets of the neighborhood at certain times of the year. For the tour to be complete, get to know the handicrafts and typical foods market, that takes place on weekends at the Liberdade Square.
Buildings that blend with the history of the city and of the country are the main attractions at the Historical Center. Don’t miss the Pateo do Collegio, the site where São Paulo was founded and which today houses a beautiful museum of religious art. The most significant Catholic temples of the city are in the region, a great example is the Sé Cathedral, which is considered one of the five largest neo-Gothic temples in the world. On the other hand, the Basilica of the São Bento Monastery carries out masses with Gregorian chants. Museums and cultural centers with unmissable programs are scattered throughout the region. Among them are Caixa Cultural and CCBB - Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil. Checking the Municipal Theater schedule is also worthwhile.
