PLUG IN TO SURGE PROTECTION THAT BEGINS AT YOUR METER

SHIELD YOUR HOME FROM SURGES WITH POWERSHIELDPEC wants to help make your life better by

o ering POWERShield which consists of two levels of protection: 1) at the meter base and 2) within the home in order to provide the ultimate in protection.

The rst line of defense against surges is a socket device installed at your meter base. This device is designed to reduce any potentially damaging external, high-voltage spikes and surges to a “safe” level before they enter your home via the power line.

Extra protection is proved by surge suppression devices installed at outlets within your home for sensitive electronic equipment. When installed properly, these devices will protect your equipment

from surges through the electrical wiring, telephone lines and coaxial cable. Device warranties range from $250 to $50,000. 150800505

Equipment and warranty are provided by TESCO, a name trusted by cooperative members throughout the United States.

Protect your home through this program for $4.95 per month and a one time installation fee of $50, with a 60 month lease agreement. *During March, the $50 installation fee is discounted to $25.No deposit is required for current PEC consumers who have received service during the most recent 24 months and have established good credit with the cooperative. (For those who do not meet this criteria, there is a $100 refundable security deposit required to join the program.) GO GREEN, BUT MAKE IT SAFE

CONTACT US BEFORE YOU INSTALL A DG SYSTEM

Q: Does PEC sell or nance generation equipment (like solar panels or small wind turbines)?

At this time, PEC does not but we are always evaluating new options and technologies to better serve our members.

Q: Can PEC recommend a company/individual who sells solar panels/wind turbines?

We encourage you to research options speci c to your needs.

Q: Can I install solar panels/wind turbines?

Yes. Since the use of such consumer-side generation may push back energy onto PEC’s system, it’s important that you speak with Kevin Bishop, PEC’s Sr. Electrical Systems Engineer, at (580) 272-1551. He will review your application and make sure all information and documents are supplied. Prior to interconnection of member equipment to PEC’s system, an onsite inspection by PEC personnel is required.

People’s Electric is responsible for maintaining a safe, reliable electric grid

to power the communities we serve. PEC is also a supporter of renewable energy resources. A large portion of PEC’s annual energy purchases are from renewable generators. As an increasing number of members consider options to install grid-connected distributed generation (DG) systems, like solar panels or small wind turbines, we are prepared to assist members while still maintaining the safety of the grid. 882000501

Grid-connected generation systems allow you to power your home or business with renewable energy, but the system must be connected to the grid to keep power owing when the sun does not shine or the wind does not blow. In most cases, these systems have the ability to feed excess power back into the electric grid.

Co-op members who are interested in DG systems, or plan to install a DG system for their home or business, should contact PEC prior to installation. “We want to help you choose a system that includes the safety and power quality components necessary to keep you, co-op crews and members of the community safe,” PEC’s senior electrical system engineer Kevin Bishop said. “If a storm hits and a power outage occurs, for example, distributed generation systems must be able to properly disconnect from the electric grid

to ensure line workers are not injured or electrocuted while restoring power. And these systems don’t become a source of fault current back onto the utility.”

An interconnection agreement must be reviewed and signed before your distributed generation system is connected to the electric grid. The agreement is intended to ensure safe, reliable and quality electric service for all. Find a link to PEC’s Distributed Generation
