There is no darkness in Him at all. New
International Reader’s Version Objective
God is light. Materials A candle or
flashlight. Copies of the verse in the
native languages of your students.
Devotional Write the verse on the board
and read it aloud. Point out and recite the
word darkness. Turn off the lights in your
classroom to communicate the meaning of
darkness. Turn on the flashlight or light
the candle to communicate the meaning of
light Recite the word light.
Gesture/mime to communicate that God is
light—that He is the Light in our darkness.
Have students recite the verse with you.
Distribute copies of the verses in the
students’ languages. Pray.
