sharepoint journey ppt
TRANSCRIPT
For operational efficiency, ECM/BPM is a must have ....
“Hey, why not just use SharePoint instead?”
It’s obvious :) : «End users wants social-networking, blogs and wikis integrated with Microsoft Office ...so ... SharePoint !» ([email protected])
The CIO didn’t want to be a “has been” … he dropped existing initiatives: - Adopt «standards» for multichannel collaboration - Manage security and compliance- Manage performance, as information flow is increasing - Avoid Collaboration without process management (knowing it is useless)- Avoid silos of content
He accepted to give SharePoint a try: - Silverlight security governance- Active directory consolidation - New SQL 2008 admins + Microsoft professional services- Windows 2008 64 bits - New security zone- Invest in a high performance SAN system to store content - Cross fingers for records management requirements- Switch from J2EE web servers to Microsoft web server- Pay for “enterprise” version to meet requirements (thought is was free)
Oops, SharePoint needs customizations … okay: - New .net developers and visual studio deployment - New components to deploy “webparts” on existing J2EE servers- New “frameworks” to build business applications- Security proxies to integrated with legacy- custom apps to support non-microsoft platforms
- Enhance some functionalities (storage management, renditions, auditing system, xml integration, large files ingestion, integrity check, caching, replication, data movement, ….°
