Shanghai Conservatory of Music

Shanghai Conservatory of MusicShanghai Conservatory of Music was formerly named “National Conservatory of Music”, which was China’s first professional institution for higher music education and founded on November 27, 1927 jointly by Mr. Cai Yuanpei, a great democratic revolutionist, educationist and thinker and also SHCM’s first president, and Dr. Xiao Youmei, a music educationist. The conservatory was renamed National College of Music in September 1929. Since 1956 the school has been named Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Incumbent President: Lin Zaiyong.

SHCM has 14 departments, involving 7 majors (public service administration, music performance, musicology, composition and composition theory, recording art, digital media art, and art and technology) and nearly 20 specialties, including not only traditional advantageous disciplines in the leading position in China, but also a number of innovative emerging disciplines and interdisciplines.

SHCM has a complete education and research system established the earliest in China, covering master’s programs, doctoral programs and post-doc-toral research stations. It has 3 disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 3 disciplines authorized to confer master’s degrees and 2 post-doctoral research stations.

SHCM has three art centers integrating teaching, performance and research, a music research institute, six music performing groups, a music press, an oriental music instrument museum and He Luting Concert Hall.

From the first day of its foundation, SHCM has been exerting efforts in training and cultivating students, many of who are later active in the music field in China and abroad. Students of SHCM have won the top award in various first-class international and domestic music competitions, including Paganini International Violin Competition, BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, Besancon International Symphony Composition Competition, Marguerite LONG Interna-tional Piano Competition, International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, Tarragona International Symphony Composition Competition, Lionel Tertis Interna-tional Viola Competition and International Tchaikovsky Competition.

SHCM has been always maintaining close relationships with the world’s first-class conservatories and musicians. In recent years, SHCM has established extensive inter-school cooperation with musical institutions in the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Australia, Japan and other countries or regions. It has held the international forum for presidents of conserva-tories, invited the world’s first-class experts to give lectures, employed international well-known musicians as honorary professors or guest professors, and held various master classes and international academic activities.

All of SHCM’s teachers and students are endeavoring to achieve greater successes in various fields and consequently to achieve the goal of “offering first-class music education and becoming internationally advanced”!

上海音乐学院

上海音乐学院始称“国立音乐院”，创建于1927年11月27日，是中国最早建立的专业音乐高等学府，由伟大的民主革命家、杰出的教育家、思想家蔡元培先生和音乐教育家萧友梅博士共同创办，首任院长为蔡元培。1929年9月更名为国立音乐专科学校。中华人民共和国成立后，于1956年定名为上海音乐学院。现任院长：林在勇。

学校现设有15个系（部），并设有上海音乐学院附中（含附小），涉及公共事业管理、音乐表演、音乐学、作曲和作曲技术理论、录音艺术、数字媒体艺术以及艺术与科技等7个专业、近20个专业方向，既包括了在国内名列前茅的传统优势学科，又有若干创新的新兴学科与交叉学科。

学院拥有全国最早建立的硕士、博士、博士后流动站的完整教学、科研体系。目前拥有3个博士学位一级学科授权点；3个个硕士学位一级学科授权点；2个一级学科博士后科研流动站。

Department of Conducting

Department of Composition

The Department of Composition was established in 1927 right after the State-run Conservatory of Music was founded. It was the earliest cradle of professional composers that ever been established in our country. It was Cai Yuanpei, Xiao Youmei and Huang Zi who have brought composition and theories of composition to the higher music education system for the first time in China. In 1947, Tan Xiaolin introduced western modern techniques of composition to China, which has profoundly influenced China’s modern music composition ever since. In 1949, He Luting became the first Dean of the Department. Ding Shande became the Dean of the Composition Department in 1950 and Yang Jiaren became the Dean of the Conducting Department in 1956. Later in 1965, the two departments merged into one. From 1978 to 1983, Deng Erjing has been taken charge of the Department, and from 1983 to 1991, Chen Mingzhi became the Dean. From 1991 to 1998, Yang Liqing was the Dean, He Xuntian from 1998 to 2009 and Xu Shuya from 2009 to 2010. The present dean of the department is Ye Guohui.

Over the eight decades, our senior composers, conductors, educators and present experts and professors have brought up a large number of excellent music professionals who have won great reputation both at home and abroad. They have made significant contributions to the Depart-ment and even to the construction of China’s music education and cultural causes. In September of 2007, the conducting major was separated from the Department of Composition and Conducting; thus, the Department of Composition regained its independent institution.

A great number of outstanding teachers and students have achieved great honor with their compositions in many major international competitions.

The main courses are: Harmony, Polyphony, Analysis and Orchestration. Currently, the Depart-ment of Composition boasts abundant teaching resources and advanced teaching, composition and scientific research levels.

作曲系

作曲系始建于1927年国立音乐学院创立之初，是我国最早建立的培养专业作曲人才的摇篮。由蔡元培、萧友梅、黄自在中国首次系统地将作曲与作曲技术理论纳入高等音乐教育体系。1947年谭小麟引进了西方现代作曲技术并深远地影响了中国现代音乐创作。1949年贺绿汀担任首任作曲系系主任。1950年由丁善德任系主任。1956年杨嘉仁任指挥系主任。1965年作曲系、指挥系合并。1978年——1983年，邓尔敬任系主任。1983年——1991年，陈铭志任系主任。1991年——1998年，杨立青任系主任。1998年——2009年，何训田任系主任。2009年——2012年，许舒亚任系主任。现任系主任：叶国辉。

86年来，萧友梅、黄自、谭小麟 、贺绿汀、丁善德、钱仁康、邓尔敬、桑桐、陈铭志、马革顺、王建中、杨嘉仁、黄晓同等老一辈作曲家、指挥家、教育家和现任的专家、教授们，培养了大批享誉国内外的优秀音乐人才，为中国音乐教育和文化事业的建设与发展做出了巨大贡献。2007年9月，指挥专业从作曲指挥系分出，恢复独立建制的作曲系。如今，作曲系有雄厚的师资，具备国际先进的教学、创作和科研水平。许多优秀教师、学生作品在重大国际作曲比赛中取得佳绩。

主要课程有和声、复调、曲式、配器、电子音乐五大件等。

指挥系

指挥系成立于1956年，是我国最早的培养专业指挥人才的教育基地之一，首任系主任杨嘉仁教授。1956年指挥系与作曲系合并；2007年恢复独立建制，现任系主任张国勇教授。

半个世纪以来，马革顺、杨嘉仁、张民权、杨秀娟、黄晓同、张眉等老一辈指挥家、教育家，培养了一批在国内外专业文艺团体、艺术院校从事指挥及教学研究的高级专门人才，为我国的音乐教育和文化事业的发展做出了巨大贡献。恢复独立建制的指挥系现拥有一批极富活力的老中青年专家教授及艺术辅导教师，他们正在为进一步完善我国专业指挥的教育模式，建设具有中国特色的指挥学体系而努力。

2007年恢复指挥系的独立建制之后，除了传统的西方管弦乐队指挥、合唱指挥专业外，将原民乐系的民族管弦乐队指挥专业划归到指挥系，另外还增设了歌剧音乐指导专业。

Department of Conducting

The department of conducting, established in 1956, was one of the oldest educational bases that have trained professional conductors in our country. Professor Yang Jiaren was the first dean of the department. In 1965, conducting department and composition department were merged into one, and then, in 2007, the conducting department resumed its original organizational system. At present, Zhang Guoyong is the dean of the department..

For half a century, conductors and educators of the older generation, such as Ma Geshun, Yang Jiaren, Zhang Minquan, Yang Xiujuan, Huang Xiaotong, and Zhang Mei, have made great contributions to the development of China’s music education and cultural causes. They have brought up a large number of advanced specialists who are now engaged in conducting and teaching in professional arts institutions or arts academies at home and abroad. There are a great many vigorous experts and professors as well as arts coaches of all age groups in the resumed conducting department. They devote themselves into the cause of improving China’s educational pattern for professional conducting, so as to build a disciplinary system of conducting with Chinese characteristics.

Since the department has resumed its independent organizational system in 2007, it has allocated the profession of traditional orchestra conduct-ing, which originally belonged to the department of Chinese traditional instruments, to the conducting department. The department also includes the professions of traditional western orchestra conducting and chorus conducting, as well as the profession of opera music director.

作曲系 指挥系

音乐学系

音乐学是采用科学方法对中外音乐艺术和各种音乐文化现象进行系统研究的一门艺术理论学科，内容主要涉及：音乐的历史发展及演变，音乐的社会功能及文化意义，音乐的审美机制和美学规律，音乐作品的解析和批评，音乐语言的构成及运作，音乐的传播与接受等方面。其分支学科在国内目前包括：中国音乐史、西方音乐史、中国传统音乐理论、音乐分析学、音乐美学、音乐人类学、东方音乐、音乐社会学、音乐批评、音乐心理学、音乐教育学、音乐声学等。

音乐学系于1982年创立后，对全国乃至世界的音乐学发展产生了积极影响。涌现出了沈知白先生、钱仁康先生这样德高望重、学贯中西的大师级学者。近年来，音乐学系不断拓展教学方向和研究范围，在学科建设上取得突出成就。毕业生遍布全国各音乐和艺术院所、大学、媒体和出版社，很多人已经成为音乐事业发展的骨干人才。

Department of MusicologyMusicology is a theoretical discipline where Chinese & Western music and musical culture is systematically studied by scientific means. It involves the history and evolution of music, its social function and cultural significance, the mechanism and aesthetic law of music, analysis and criticism of music works, and so on. Now in China the specific fields under musicology include: Chinese Music History, Western Music History, Chinese Traditional Music Theory, Music Analytics, Aesthetics of Music, Enthnomusicology, Oriental Music, Sociology of Music, Music Criticism, Psychology of Music, Music Pedagogy and Musical Acoustics.

The Department of Musicology has had a positive impact on the development of musicology since its establishment in 1982. In this field we have a number of academic masters such as Mr. Shen Zhibai and Qian Kangren. In recent years, the Department has been continuously expanding its research fields and scopes with great achievements. Many students graduated from the DoM now work in famous music & art institutions, universi-ties, press and publishing houses all around China and have became the backbone of music industry.

Former deans of the DoM include Qian Kangren, Tan Bingruo, Shen Xuan, Qian Yiping, Yang Yandi and Han Zhong’en. The incumbent dean is Zhao Weiping.

声乐歌剧系

上海音乐学院声乐歌剧系成立于1927年学院建立之始。经过八十多年的建设和发展，声乐歌剧系整体水平在国内外音乐院校中处于领先地位，特别是长期保持学科优势的美声专业更是享誉海内外。该系在发展过程中，涌现出洪达琦、劳景贤、蔡绍序、高芝兰、王品素、周小燕、葛朝祉、谢绍曾等一批为祖国声乐事业作出过杰出贡献的声乐资深教授。近年来，该系教学硕果累累、荣誉满载，先后有百余人次在国内外大赛中获奖，其中，2007年沈洋获卡迪夫世界歌唱家比赛金奖，2008年于冠群获维也纳第27届汉斯·加波尔国际声乐比赛金奖，2009年方颖获第七届中国音乐金钟奖声乐比赛美声演唱金奖。

现有学科方向：

声乐演唱表演艺术、民族声乐演唱表演艺术（其中“声乐演唱艺术”2005年被评为“国家精品课程”；2009年美声教学团队被评为国家级教学团队；美声教学成果2009年获国家级教学成果二等奖）。

Department of Voice & Opera

The Department of Voice & Opera was established in 1927. After more than eighty years’ construction and development, the entire level of Department of Voice & Opera is now the top among conservatories in China, especially its bel canto major, which has won great reputation at home and abroad. Many senior professors of vocal music have emerged through the development of the Department. They are Hong Daqi, Lao Jingxian, Cai Shaoxu, Gao Zhilan, Wang Pinsu, Zhou Xiaoyan, Ge Chaozhi, and Xie Shaozeng, who have made great contribution to the country’s vocal music education. In recent years, the teaching of the Department has been rewarded with numerous achievements and glories—more than a hundred people have won prizes in domestic and overseas competitions. Among those awards, Shen Yang has won the Gold Award of the Cardiff World Singers Competition in 2007; Yu Guanqun has won the Gold Award of the 27th Vienna Hans Gabor Singing Competition in 2008; and Fang Ying has won the Gold Award of Bel Canto in the 7th Chinese Golden Bell Award in 2009.

1927年国立音乐学院建立之初即设弦乐、管乐专业。从这里走出了第一批弦乐演奏人才，历经八十八年的历史沉淀，经过几代人的不懈努力，上海音乐学院管弦乐学科在国内已处于领先地位，集教学、表演、科研为一体的管弦乐作为 “国家级特色专业”，具有雄厚的学科基础。现有学科基地: 上海青年交响乐团、上海音乐学院交响管乐团、弦乐团、国际弦乐艺术中心、俞丽拿小提琴工作室、郑石生 方蕾小提琴工作室、陈嘉敏铜管工作室、沈西蒂 蓝汉成中提琴室内乐工作室等。设有中小提琴、大低竖琴、木管、铜管、艺术辅导和乐队共六个教研室。特别是弦乐学科在国际上享有盛誉，成为世界公认的优秀人才培养基地。

目前拥有国家级特色专业《弦乐专业综合改革试点》、“国家级精品课程”《小提琴演奏艺术》， “上海市级精品课程”《中提琴演奏艺术》、《室内乐演奏艺术》，上海市重点课程《小号演奏艺术》、《单簧管演奏艺术》、《长笛演奏艺术》、《大提琴演奏艺术》，上海市级教学团队—中小提琴教学团队。

近年来《弦乐演奏教学成果》荣获上海市级教学成果奖一等奖、《国际一流弦乐演奏人才的培养》教学成果成功斩获国家级教学成果奖二等奖。

Department of Orchestral Instruments

The Department of Orchestral Instruments has been set up since 1927 when the former National Conservatory of Music was established. It cultivat-ed the first batch of excellent string players. With unremitting efforts of several generations in the past 88 years, SHCM's Department of Orchestral Instruments has taken the leading position in China. As a "National Specialty", it serves the functions of teaching, performance and academic research with a solid discipline foundation. The discipline bases available includes: Shanghai Youth Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensem-ble and String orchestra of SHCM, International Art Center for String Instruments, YU Lina Violin Studio, ZHENG Shisheng & FANG Lei Violin Studio, CHEN Jiamin Brass Studio and SHEN Xidi & LAN Hancheng Chamber Music Studio for Viola. And there are six teaching and research offices respec-tively on violin & viola, harp, windwood, brass, art consultancy and band. The string instruments discipline has become a globally-recognized excellent talents cultivation base with high reputation.

With its municipal level violin and viola teaching team, the Department of Orchestral Instruments provides a series of fine courses, including the Profession Reform Pilot for String Instruments as a national specialty; national excellent course — the Art of Violin Performance; Shanghai excellent course — the Art of Viola Performance; Shanghai Key courses — the Art of the Performance of Trumpet, Clarinet, Flute and Cello.

In recent years, the Teaching of String Instrument Performance has won 1st prize of Shanghai municipal level Teaching Achievement Awards, while the Cultivation of First-class String Instrument Player won 2nd prize of the national level Teaching Achievement Awards.

钢琴系

上海音乐学院钢琴系创建于1927年，是学院最早创建的系科之一。1929年，萧友梅博士聘请俄籍教授鲍里斯·查哈罗夫担任系主任，而后又聘任了多位有丰富教学经验的外籍教师来院任教，为钢琴艺术在中国教育领域的传播奠定了良好的基础。

新中国成立后，在贺绿汀院长的关心和努力下，邀请了一批国内外优秀钢琴人才来院任教，包括从欧美留学回国的著名钢琴教育家范继森、李翠贞、吴乐懿、李嘉禄等。老一辈钢琴教育家为我国的钢琴教育事业做出了重大贡献，使我院钢琴学科整体水平一直处于国内领先地位。改革开放以来，许多世界著名钢琴家来院讲学交流，海外学子纷纷学成回国，使我院钢琴专业教学在严谨规范的传统基础上得到了新的发展。

八十多年来，钢琴系培养了近千名优秀专业人才，众多学生在国际、国内重大钢琴赛事中夺冠获奖，一代又一代的中国钢琴演奏家和教育家在这里诞生。

Department of Piano

The Department of Piano was established 1927. In 1929, Dr.Xiao Youmei has invited Russian pianist Boris Zakharoff as the first dean of the depart-ment, and many other foreign teachers as faculties as well, thus a solid foundation has been laid for piano teaching since then, and also it marked the beginning of piano art’s spreading and development in China. After the year of 1949，President He Luting has invited a great number of excellent teachers from China and abroad including LiCuizhen, Fan Jisen, Wu Leiyi and LiJialu . A large amount of outstanding talents in piano performing and teaching have been brought up. The department has formed its rigorous teaching style and solid foundation, which leads the piano discipline to an advanced level in the country.

In the past several decades, numerous outstanding students have made brilliant achievements; winning awards in national and international piano competitions .The faculties have also made significant contributions to the development of China’s piano education. With the reform and opening up China has furthered its communication with musicians globally, which stimulates the frequent exchanges and visits pianist and experts from all over the world have came to SHCM to give master classes and performances which has greatly enhanced the entire level of the depart-ment .

For over eighty years, the Department of Piano has brought up almost a thousand of graduate students, postgraduate students and all kinds of advanced students who have achieved great honors in the competitions both at home and abroad. Generations of Chinese pianists and educators have been brought up here.

民乐系

上海音乐学院民族音乐系于1956年正式建立，这是国内音乐学院中最早设立的民族音乐专业学科。著名民族音乐理论家沈知白教授担任首任系主任，著名琵琶演奏家、教育家卫仲乐教授任副系主任。

多年来，民族音乐系曾经汇聚了中国音乐界的诸多大家，如：沈知白、卫仲乐、陆修棠、王乙、陆春龄、胡登跳等，也培养了许多当代中国音乐的名家大师，如：闵惠芬、李民雄、夏飞云、王昌元、阎惠昌等，为传承、研究、发展中国音乐做出了巨大贡献。

民族音乐系师资力量雄厚，是我国最早的中国器乐演奏艺术硕士学位授予点。几十年来，在中国民族音乐的各个领域、均取得了令人瞩目的重要成就及各类奖项。

民族音乐系具有优秀的学术传统和开放的办学理念，许多方面都逐渐形成了独特的优势和强势，多门专业都处于国内先进水平。民族音乐系目前拥有一个民族管弦乐团，及多种组合形式的室内乐团。

Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments

The Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments was officially established in 1956. The Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments was the first to be established among domestic music academies. Professor Shen Zhibai, a renowned theorist of Chinese traditional instruments, was the first dean of the department, and the deputy dean was the famous lutanist and educator Wei Zhongle.

For many years, the Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments has gathered a quite number of great masters in Chinese music circles, such as Shen Zhibai, Wei Zhongle, Lu Xiutang, Wang Yi, Jin Zuli, Lu Chunling, and Hu Dengtiao. The depart-ment has also brought up many contemporary Chinese music masters such as Min Huifen, Li Minxiong, Xia Feiyun, Wang Changyuan, and Yan Huichang. It has made a significant contributions to the inheritance, exploration, and development of Chinese music.

With outstanding teaching resources, the department was the first one in China to offer master’s degree in Chinese instrumental music art. In the last few decades, it has achieved great success and won all kinds of awards in all fields of Chinese traditional music, especially in instrumental playing.

The Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments boasts excellent academic traditions and open sponsoring concept, and has formed unique superiority and strength in its construction of faculty and curriculum, talents cultivation, and teaching management. Several disciplinary fields remain at a high level both at home and abroad.

At present, the department of Chinese Traditional Instruments owns a Chinese traditional instrumental orchestra of SHCM and a multiform chamber orchestra.

音乐教育系

上海音乐学院音乐教育系最早溯自1927年国立音乐学院师范专修科。1997年恢复重建了音乐教育系，首届系主任由时任院长江明惇教授兼任。2001年，余丹红教授在国内首次明确提出音乐教育专业主课围绕音乐教育学理论与实践的思路，确立了本系的学科定位，并逐渐形成具有中国特色的音乐教育学科体系。现有音乐教育和音乐治疗两个专业。现任系主任余丹红教授。

音乐教育系注重内涵建设，承接并完成教育部、文化部、上海市教委的科研项目，完成系列中学义务制学校、大学的音乐教材及系列理论著述。音乐教育系还注重学生音乐技能发展，曾在国内外比赛中屡获佳绩。

音乐教育系在国际化平台建设上深具特色，除聘有外籍教授外，每年有各国音乐教育名家讲学，并成功承办大型国际音乐教育会议（ISME、APSMER），使音乐教育系赢得了国内外同行的高度认同。

Department of Music Education

The history of the Department of Music Education dates back to the original Normal Training Division in Shanghai National Conservatory of Music in 1927. The Department of Music Education was resumed established in 1997, with professor Jiang Mingdun, President at the time, as its first Dean. In 2001, Professor Yu Danhong, for the first time in our country, put forward an idea that major subjects should center on music education theory and practice. Thus, the position of disciplines was fixed, and consequently, a music education system with Chinese characteristics was gradually formed. There are two majors in the Department of Music Education-Music Education and Music Therapy. The present dean of the department is Professor Yu Danhong.

The Department of Music Education attaches great importance to the connotation construction. It has undertaken a series of scientific research projects from Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; meanwhile, it has complied music textbooks and art textbooks for Shanghai middle schools. The Department lays emphasis on the development of students’ musicianship. It has won the first place both individually and collectively in the Music Skills Competition held by National Ministry of Education. Moreover, the female chorus of the Department of Music Education has won gold awards in international competitions.

The Department of Music Education has a feature of international characteristics due to its establishment of an international exchange platform. Each year, music educators, players and conductors from Germany, Austria, Denmark, Japan, America, Hungary and Belgium come to our department to hold lectures. Having successfully held large-scale internation-al music education conferences (ISME，APSMER), the department is highly recognized in the field at home and abroad.

音乐工程系

音乐工程系2003年建系。音乐工程系有录音艺术（音乐设计与制作）、音乐科技与艺术两个专业，学制为四年。录音艺术专业属于艺术类学生招考入学，音乐科技与艺术专业为非艺术类第一批本科招考入学。

办学特色：立足音乐本体，走与科技发展相结合的道路。培养目标：在国际化音乐传媒工艺体系的平台上，建设一个具有实用性、交叉性、综合性的音乐科技与艺术新兴学科；在传统音乐的基础上，注重培养符合型知识结构、掌握先进传播技术和熟悉音乐产业规则的音乐传媒高级技术型人才。

本系先后获上海市政府第二期重点学科“优势学科——作曲与音乐设计”、上海市重点课程“计算机音乐基础”项目、国家重点学科“音乐学——当代电子音乐设计与传媒研究方向”。上海高校创新团队（第二期）建设计划——“音乐新媒体研究实践创新团队”等重点学科与科研项目。举办、承办项目：日本爱知世博会演出；上海国际电子音乐周；首届eARTS数字音频大赛等。

Department of Music Engineering

The Department of Music Engineering was founded in 2003. The Department of Music Engineering has opened two majors: According Arts (Music Designing and Producing) and Music Technology and Arts. The length of schooling is four years. The profession of Recording Arts is categorized into the admissions of students majoring in arts, and the major of Music Technology and Arts is categorized into the admissions of the first array of non-artistic undergraduate students.

The feature of the Department is that we set foot in music and carry on a road attaching great importance to the combination with technology. Our teaching objective is to establish a practical, comprehensive new disciplinary field of music technology and arts on the platform of international music-media industry system. Meanwhile, on the basis of traditional music, we lay emphasis on the cultivation of music-media high-tech talents. These talents must have compound knowledge structure, know well of the advanced communication technology, and be familiar with rules of music industry.

Since the establishment of the Department, of our projects have obtained achievements and honors “Composition and Music Design”, “Basic of Computer Music” ”Musicology-contemporary Electronic Music Design and Mass Media Research”, “Musical New Media Innovative Research Team”. Moreover, our department has held and undertaken a series of large scale projects, such as performing in 2005 Aichi Expo, in Shanghai International Electronic Music Week (2006, 2009), and we held the First eARTS Digital Audio Contest in 2011.

艺术管理系

艺术管理系于2003年正式建系，致力于培养具有国际视野及文化涵养的一流表演艺术管理人才，以促进本国文化产业的发展，改善艺术活动的社会环境。

本系自2005年起与上海复旦大学进行合作培养，大一新生在复旦修习管理和经济类学科，一年后回到上音进行精英式的艺管专业的深化教育，形成强强联手的优势互补。本系专业课程采取模组化设计，分别体现两个培养重点：“演出策划与经营”“国际演艺经纪”，所有学生毕业前必需完成一个模组课程，完成一个毕业制作，并且撰写相应主题的论文。

除了理论知识的学习，本系更强调培养学生多视角的思维能力和务实有效的执行力，长期合作的实践基地包括：上海大剧院、上海文化广场、新加坡华乐团、台湾爱乐乐团、台湾云门舞集等一流艺术机构，提供学生具有国际规范的实操机会，以适应全球化职业环境。�

Department of Arts Administration

The Department of Arts Administration, officially founded in 2003, aims at training and cultivating students into top class art management talents with global view and good culture taste, in order to promote the development of China’s cultural industries and foster a health and thriving environment for arts.

The DAA started a joint cultivation project with Fudan University from 2005, where freshmen of DAA take the fundamental courses in manage-ment and business at Fudan University in their first year, and return to SHCM for further arts management training. The program of DAA is designed according two different modules:  performance planning & marketing and international performance management. All the students of DAA shall finish a course module, fulfill a design task and write a relevant thesis before they graduate.

Besides the study of frontier theoretical knowledge, DAA lays more emphasis on cultivating students’ thinking and executive abilities. With prestigious art institutions such as Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai Culture Square, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Twaiwan Philharmonic Orchestra and Taiwan's Cloud Gate as our long-term cooperative practice bases, the DAA brings in assorted internship opportunities for students to equip them with better qualities to conquer all future challenges.

Department of Modern Instruments and Percussion

The Department of Modern Instruments and Percussion of SHCM was established in 2003. At present, there are three offices of research and teaching and twelve majors within the department, including Electronic Keyboard, Classical Guitar, Accordion, Western Percussion, Chinese Percussion, Popular Percussion, Jazz Piano, Jazz Trumpet, Jazz Trombone, Jazz Saxophone, Jazz Guitar and Jazz Bass. The department also boasts two world-class performing groups, namely SHCM Percussion Ensemble and SCOM Jazz Band.

上海音乐学院音乐戏剧系成立于2002年9月。音乐剧表演学科方向是上海音乐学院戏剧与影视学科中重要的支柱产业之一，实属国内同类学科的教学实践与科研中的领先者。

Department of Music Theatre

The Department of Musical of SHCM was founded in September 2002. Musical performing is one of the key disciplines of theatre and film & television performing in SHCM, and a leader in teaching practice and research of musical discipline in China.

With the advantage of the music education of SHCM, the department has established long-term cooperation with New York University in the USA, Royal Academy of Music in the UK and other foreign college and university schools of music, which provide opportunities for international exchange. We have fostered a large number of excellent all-round talents, who are active in musical, film & television performing as well as musical creation, teaching and research.

The department adopts a creative team-oriented teaching model that focuses on the practice of stage art. Since the foundation of the depart-ment, we have rehearsed classic Broadway musicals, such as Carousel, Company, Legally Blonde, etc. Moreover, we have created a series of Chinese musicals, among which Sunrise, I’m Crazy about Music, Dajian Hui-Neng and Loulan won great praise from musical experts in China. We will continue to improve our teaching quality and cultivate musical talents who meet international standards.

数字媒体艺术学院（筹）

上海音乐学院为填补国内数字媒体与音乐创意相结合的交叉学科研究的空白，2008年10月正式成立数字媒体艺术学院筹备办公室，独立开展教学工作与项目实践。

学院（筹）的办学特色是以试听艺术相结合，在技术平台上围绕音乐数字媒体艺术形态与审美方式，用系统化整合模式进行构建，在国内同类学科中独树一帜。2009年学院与东方数字媒体艺术研发中心合作，制作并演出多媒体京剧音乐剧场《白娘子·爱情四季》， 2012年5月,获得文化部第四届跨界艺术与融合创新奖。

数字媒体艺术学院（筹）现设有两个专业：数字媒体艺术专业和录音艺术专业（含音乐与传媒方向和多媒体艺术设计方向），其中录音艺术专业是全国音乐院校中独家与外国高校合作的办学项目。2015~2016学年学院在校生为241人。

Digital Media Art Institute (Under preparation)

The Digital Media Art Institute is established in order to fill in the research gap in the fusion of digital media music and music innovation. Our institute is unique in that, basing on the art form and aesthetic style of digital music, and through the mode of systemic integration, it succeeds in combining the audio and visual art. Working together with the Oriental Digital Media Art Research and Development Center, it rehearsed and performed “Lady White – Four Seasons of Love” (multimedia Peking Opera Musical) in 2009, and earned the “The Fourth Innovation Prize” by the Ministry of Culture in May, 2012.

Presently, we offer two programs: the digital media art, and recording arts (including two directions-- music and media & multimedia art design). The latter is the only cooperative program with foreign institutes initiated by the music conservatories in China. In total, 241 students pursue their studies in our institute in the 2015 to 2016 academic year.

Studies, covering 11 fields of research: art philosophy and criticism, art anthropology and sociology, art education theory, musicology, composition, composition theory, music performance, music technolo-gy and applications, drama theory, drama creation and drama performance.

The postgraduate education in SHCM includes doctoral candidates, master candidates, teachers in-service pursuing for Master degree, Master of Fine Arts (MFA), full-time MFA, class for advanced studies, internal visiting scholars and researchers. In addition, it has become one of the first domestic conservatories that have set up mobile post-doctoral stations.

The SHCM has founded a functional division in charge of postgraduate education affairs—Postgraduate Office—in 2001, and changed its name into Postgraduate Department in 2005. For more than ten years’ rapid development, the Postgraduate Department has achieved great success in all aspects, such as its management system for postgraduate education, cultivation mechanism, discipline construc-tion, build-up of the team of mentors, and creating of cultural and academic atmosphere. Moreover, the systematic result of postgradu-ate education is highly appreciated by other conservatories and is becoming a model for them to refer to.

上海音乐学院是中国最早招收外国留学生的高等专业音乐院校之一，有着悠久的留学生教育历史。上世纪50年代已接收越南民主共和国的留学生。迈入新的世纪，作为外国留学生中国政府奖学金、上海市政府奖学金院校，上海音乐学院不断提高国际化办学水平，以雄厚的专业传统优势、独特的音乐教育特色、浓郁的艺术文化氛围为外国留学生们创造了良好的留学环境，来自20多个国家，近千名留学生来我院深造，毕业后或在各国家的国家级乐团等文化艺术机构担任演奏家、作曲家、指挥家、理论研究学者；或在各国高等艺术院校担任专业教师；或在各国家政府文化部门担任要职等等，他们为推动中外音乐文化教育交流做出了积极且重要的贡献。

International Education

Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SHCM), one of the first higher music institutions in China that recruit overseas students, has a long history of international education. It began to accept students from Vietnam in the 1950s. As a higher institution that awards Chinese Government Scholar-ship and Shanghai Government Scholarship for international students, SHCM has been constantly improving its level of international education in the 21st century. Building upon a traditional and specialized strength in music education and boasting a rich art and cultural atmosphere, SHCM creates a favorable educational environment for overseas students. SCM has admitted a total of nearly 1,000 students from over 20 countries. The graduates work in national orchestras and cultural institutions as performers, composers, conductors and researchers, teach in higher art institutions, or hold important posts in government departments of culture. They have been making significant contributions to promoting the exchange of music cultural education between China and the rest of the world.At present, SHCM offers degree programs including undergraduate and postgraduate programs at master’s and PhD level, and non-degree programs, such as music program and Chinese language program, as well as short-term training programs. 上海音乐学院附属中学

上海音乐院附属中等专科音乐学校（简称上音附中），其前身是由人民音乐家、理论家、教育家贺绿汀教授于1951年创办的音乐少年班。1953年正式建校，定名为中央音乐学院华东分院附属中等音乐学校。1956年，学校更名为上海音乐学院附属中等音乐专科学校。同年，成立上海音乐学院附属儿童音乐学校。1996年，附小并入附中，实行大、中、小一条龙的音乐教育管理体制。

附中历任校长：程卓如、蒋在文、金村田、续靖宇、东峰、汝洁、黄祖庚、华天礽、赵晓生、徐孟东、方蕾。

上音附中具有雄厚的师资队伍，在职教职工129人，其中教师93人，占教职工总数72%，教授8名、副教授和高级讲师16名，高级职称教师人数占教师总数25%。同时，我校还聘请王建中、李民铎、郑石生、俞丽拿、陈嘉敏、王永德、盛一奇等一批著名的教授和专业院团的演奏家担任附中的教学工作。

学校设置：键盘乐器演奏、管弦乐器演奏、中国乐器演奏、音乐理论基础（作曲）、声乐、现代乐器演奏等专业。学校全面向国内外（含港澳台地区，及部分外籍学生）招生。小学部学制三年，中学部学制六年。现有在校生500余人。

六十年来，涌现出刘诗昆、杨立青、夏云飞、赵晓生、殷承宗、陆在易、陈燮阳、闵惠芬、张国勇、余隆、王永吉、薛伟、钱舟、王健、郑青、张乐、秦立巍、徐忠、孔祥东、李坚、罗小慈、马晓晖、黄蒙拉、王之炅、宋思衡等一批优秀的音乐人才。

上音附中在自身发展中不断进取，1993年被文化部授予“三年中连续四次获得国际音乐比赛第一名”的奖匾，文化部首次在所属艺术院校中颁发此奖匾。2001年学校被教育部、文化部评定为国家级重点中等职业学校（艺术类）、2003年至今年学校连续被评为上海市中小学“安全文明校园”、2006年被评为上海市职业教育先进单位。

Music Middle School Affiliated to SHCM

The predecessor of the Affiliated to SHCM was a music school for young talents founded by He Luting, People’s Musician, theorist and educator, in 1951. The Music Middle School was officially established in 1953 and was denominated the Secondary Music School Affiliat-ed to the Branch Institute in East China of Central Conservatory of Music. In 1956, the school changed its name into the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In the same year, the Primary School Affiliated to SHCM was founded. In 1996, the Primary School was merged into the Music Middle School Affiliat-ed to SCM, and thus a coordinated management system of music education was put into practice. Cheng Zhuoru, Jiang Zaiwen, Jin Cuntian, Xu Jingyu, Dong Feng, Ru Jie, Huang Zugeng, Hua Tianreng, Zhao Xiaosheng and Xu Mengdong served as the president of the middle school.The middle school has a strong team of faculty members. Meanwhile, it has invited a large number of renowned professors and professional players to take charge of the teaching jobs. The school has the following majors, namely keyboard instruments performance, orchestral instruments performance, Chinese musical instruments, musicology (composition), voice and opera and modern instruments performance etc . The school opens to students nationwide, including students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as a portion of foreign students. Now the number of students has exceeded 500.In the past 60 years, the number of students who have won a lot of awards . Scientific Research Office

The Scientific Research Office was set up in 2001 by combining the former Office of Educational Administration and Institute of Music Studies while further specifying its function of research management. From the first day of its establishment, the Office defines itself as the one in charge of project application, boosting research grants, undertaking important projects and monitoring processes. In line with the principle of "promoting scientific projects and discipline development through administration and excellent service", the Scientific Research Office always actively participated in the integrated construction planning of our Conservatory to build the concept of serving for scientific research.

音乐研究所

上海音乐学院音乐研究所成立于1950年，由我国音乐学一代宗师沈知白先生亲自创建，音研所致力于著书立说，编译国外重要音乐文献。十年动乱后，研究所回复工作并发展成为一个由四部分组成的音乐研究机构：分别致力于研究传统音乐中国音乐史、西方音乐史、音乐美学以及音乐文献编译。近年来，海外学成归来的学者为音研所的中外文化交流、音乐史料收集和民族音乐中国音乐遗产的抢救等做出很大贡献。

Music Research Institute

Established in 1950 by Shen Zhibai, a distinguished scholar, the Traditional Music Research Unit focused its work on the collection and study of Chinese folk music and translation of books on music from foreign languages into Chinese. After a lapse of ten years, not only was the work resumed but the unit was developed into an institute consisting of four sections: Chinese traditional music history, Western music history, aesthet-ics, and translation of books and writings on music. Returned scholars in recent years have contributed much to cultural exchange and rescue and preservation of cultural relics.

The press, established in 2003 on the basis of the Conservatory’s fine tradition and its strong faculty, aims at the publications of high quality academic writings, teaching materials and appreciation series, to promote the Development of music disciplines and music education, as well as at the style of high efficiency and originality to win the market both at home and abroad.
