Americans spend 5 hours every day on their phones. Spend some of that time with Shalom.

Church doesn’t just happen on Saturday. It happens in our Connect Groups, at our men’s and women’s breakfasts, at any time two or three of us communicate with one another in prayer or fellowship. And yes, there’s an app for that! Shalom has been using The City to post prayer requests, bulletins, announcements, etc., but on August 1, Shalom will switch from The City to Realm (a desktop app) and Realm Connect (for iPhone and Android phones). Here’s why:

ACS Technologies is retiring The City software. Realm Connect offers all The City’s features--and then some. Realm Connect is “mobile first” software. Its online experience was

designed for mobile before designing it for desktop computers. This means it will be much easier to use it on your phone.

Realm Connect offers push notifications so the Shalom staff can send alerts to people’s smartphones. Remember Hurricane Harvey? Pastor Mort had no way to contact people about whether to come to church or not. Soon he’ll have one.

The City already lets you give online; Realm Connect will also let you text to give.

Like The City, Realm Connect is “opt in” only, but you can’t opt in until August 1, when Realm will come online. At that time, people who already belong to The City will receive an invitation to Realm, and we will provide a link where other people can opt in. Beginning August 1, if you are already signed up for a recurring online donation, the donation will still keep happening, but if you want to give a new donation, you will have to use Realm. Please let me know if you have any questions.
