Shady Oaks Bulletin November 2013 Shady Oaks Camp January 2017 www.shadyoakscamp.org Parents Association for People with Disabilities Director’s Corner Hello all, Well it is time to say goodbye to 2016. We had a good year with fundraising, volunteer projects, and of course camp. The start of 2017 brings our camp holiday party on Saturday, January 7th. It is a good chance to catch up with old friends and get your camp fix. If you have not already done so, please RSVP so I can let you know what kind of goodies to bring. 2017 is also going to be a very special one for camp and the Parents Association. It is the 75th anniversary of the PA and 70th of SOC. This a huge accomplishment, and one that our PA members past and present should be very proud of. Besides our annual open house that will be on Sunday, July 9th we are also starting a huge crowd funding campaign through Plumfund (details in this month’s newsletter). We hope to raise enough money to pay off our mortgage and lower the price of camp for everyone! This is where we need everyone’s help. If you are on Facebook, twitter or any other social media please share the link to our Plumfund. Also, if you know anyone who is in the media business, please tell them about our Anniversary celebration and see if they would be willing to do a story about us. The more media attention we get the better the chance we have of raising funds. For those who are not computer savvy, donations can still be made to camp via check or cash. Just make sure they mention our Plumfund campaign in the memo box or letter they send. Well, friends time to run. Hope to see you all at the party! Parents Association for People with Disabilities

Director’s Corner Hello all,

Well it is time to say goodbye to 2016. We had a good year with fundraising,

volunteer projects, and of course camp. The start of 2017 brings our camp

holiday party on Saturday, January 7th. It is a good chance to catch up with

old friends and get your camp fix. If you have not already done so, please

RSVP so I can let you know what kind of goodies to bring. 2017 is also going

to be a very special one for camp and the Parents Association. It is the 75th

anniversary of the PA and 70th of SOC. This a huge accomplishment, and one

that our PA members past and present should be very proud of. Besides our

annual open house that will be on Sunday, July 9th we are also starting a huge

crowd funding campaign through Plumfund (details in this month’s

newsletter). We hope to raise enough money to pay off our mortgage and

lower the price of camp for everyone! This is where we need everyone’s help.

If you are on Facebook, twitter or any other social media please share the link

to our Plumfund. Also, if you know anyone who is in the media business,

please tell them about our Anniversary celebration and see if they would be

willing to do a story about us. The more media attention we get the better the

chance we have of raising funds. For those who are not computer savvy,

donations can still be made to camp via check or cash. Just make sure they

mention our Plumfund campaign in the memo box or letter they send. Well,

friends time to run. Hope to see you all at the party!

Shady Oaks Camp Daily Pick 3 Raffle

1000 tickets will be sold numbered 000-999

Tickets are $10 each

Every day during the month of February 2017, the Illinois Daily Game

(evening Drawing) numbers are picked. Whoever has that EXACT number is

the winner for that day.

The payout is $100 per day and $150 on Sundays. Not bad for a $10 ticket!!

Also, if the same number is pulled during the month (and yes, it happens) you

win again! You have to match the numbers in the

Exact order and not in reverse or any other combination. Example,

If 258 is pulled, only 258 wins (not 285, 528, 852 etc.)

We will keep track of the drawing every day.

One ticket gives you 29 chances to win!! (LESS THEN 100 TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE!)

Contact Lori McAleavy for tickets [email protected]

Parents Association dues of

$100.00 are due ASAP

Remember you must be a dues paying member in good standing in order to

hold a seat on the board of directors or for your child to attend to camp.

Thank You

A huge thank you to Ryan Zimny and all of those who donated time and/or money to his scout eagle project. Ryan's

project was one of the largest eagle projects we have ever had at camp. Ryan, along with many of his family and friends,

converted our old dorm 6 into a sensory room. This room will be utilized by all of our campers next summer.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to Laurie Harff, Grace & Basil Tydings, Marnie Baker, Stephen & Kim

Gignac and Bill Gallagher and Charles & Nancy Digiovanni for their generous donations to SOC this month.

Our condolences go out to the Ferrara Family

presence within the Parent Group will be

sorely missed. Our thought and prayers are

with Guy, John and the whole Ferrara family
