BRICS Students Meet

GNIMS Students attended the Annual 9th BRICS Students

Meet 2018 held from February 1-4, at Hindustan University,

Chennai, India. The previous Students Meet had been held

at XIME Campuses in Bangalore and Kochi, India. The 9th

BRICS Students Meet will had the usual features of this

signature event of ABBS such as Business Games, a Debating Competition

and a Cultural evening consisting of music and dance program from

member countries. The coordinators also organized visits to places of

cultural and industrial interest for the delegates. Prof. J. Philip, President

of ABBS addressed the delegates of the BRICS Students Meet at the

Inaugural Session in the morning of February 1, 2018. The Students Meet

was inaugurated by Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Chancellor, Hindustan

University, the Host Member Institution.

DEBATE SERIES

The Second Inter-Class Debate Series was conducted on February 10,

2018 in Room No. 202 at 12.30 pm. Group of three students from MMS

A – Laxmi Chaudhari, Sidhant Budhkar and Veena Vinodbabu and from

MMS B Aishwarya Desai, Yugeshri Wadikar, Rahul Sawant and PGDM

Chintan Mehta, Vinayak Patle and Praveen Kumar participated.

Topic of the debate assigned was "Make in India or Made in India". Prof.

Balvinder Singh was the evaluator for the debate. All three teams

participated enthusiastically and able to form valid arguments on the

topic. Students from all three courses present as an audience and

participated actively by asking relevant questions to the participants after

the debate. MMS A won the debate.

Value Added Activity – PGDM LIBRARY SESSION

Value Add Activity was organized by GNIMS Library in the Library

Premises for the PGDM Students (Batch 2017-2019) on February 10,

2018. Ms. Jyotsna Sawant, Corporate Trainer trained the PGDM Students

on Mind Mapping. The Session was very interesting and interactive.

Book Exhibition

GNIMS Library organized a Book Exhibition on February 15, 2018 in the

library premises. Faculties as well as students recommended maximum

books for the library.

Annual National Research Conference

Digital Adoption for Consumer Delight was the theme of the Annual

National Research Conference in Marketing was held on February 17,

2018, in G. N. Khalsa College’s Seminar Hall.

Chief Guest for the Annual Research Conference was Mr. Prateek N.

Kumar, CEO and M.D., Neo Niche Integrated Solution Pvt. Ltd. And Mr.

Ninad Karpe, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII – Western

Region)

Vipanan

The Theme of this year meet was “COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE –

ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH INNOVATION”. This meet was organized by the

Marketing Faculty on February 18, 2018, in G. N. Khalsa College’s

Seminar Hall. The speakers for the event were Mr. Robin Banerjee,

Managing Director of Caprihans India Pvt. Ltd., a Subsidy of Bilcare Ltd.;

Mr. Vinay Bhartia, Alibaba.com and Mr. Subhobroto Chakroborty, Digital

Marketer, Strategic Consultant. All the speakers addressed the students

and answered the questions raised by the students.

This event took place in Room No. 202

Visitors to the Library

Mr. Vinay Bhartia from Alibaba.com and Ms. Martina from Oxford Brookes

University visited the library on Sunday, February 18, 2018. They also

interacted with the students and were impressed with the library

Resources.

MoU

This year two new courses were started by the Institute. Dr. D. Y. Patil,

Director, GNIMS Business School signed MOU with Times of India group

officially starting the new PGDM IN BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES.

MOU Signed with Academic Partners NSE For New Course in EMBA in

Financial Markets Batch 2018-19.

Value added Activity

Second value add activity was conducted by the library for the PGDM

students (Batch 2017-2019) on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 2.00

pm till 4.00 pm. Ms. Neelam Chavan, Librarian, G. N. Khlasa College,

Mumbai, gave a hands-on training on Digital Collections. She discussed

the e-resources which are free available which can be downloaded like e-

books sites, where they can get Statistical Sources for their

project/assignment. She also gave a presentation on how to use Zotero.

Students asked questions and they were answered by her. The Session

was very interesting and interactive.
