Sgt S.Hicks #2227 FAX: (415) 558-5548 630 Valencia St. San Francisco, CA 94110 COMPLAINT OF VICIOUS AND DANGEROUS DOG (San Francisco Health Code Section 42.3) This form is to be signed by a person who believes that a dog is vicious and dangerous. Pursuant to San Francisco Health Code Section 42.3, once a signed complaint that a dog is vicious and dangerous is received by the Animal Control Officer or a representative of the Department of Public Health or the San Francisco Police Department, a designated employee of those departments may find a dog presents a danger and is subject to seizure and impoundment if the dog is on its owner, keeper or harborer’s property. If the designated employee finds that a dog presents a danger, the owner or keeper of the dog will be entitled to a hearing to determine whether the dog is vicious and dangerous. The hearing may be held either before or after the dog is seized, depending on the circumstances of the case. “Vicious and dangerous dog” is defined as follows: (1) Any dog that when unprovoked inflicts bites or attacks a human being or domestic animal either on public or private property, or in a vicious or terrorizing manner, approaches any person in an apparent attitude of attack upon the streets, sidewalks, or any public grounds or places; or (2) Any dog with a known propensity, tendency or disposition to attack unprovoked, to cause injury or to otherwise endanger the safety of human beings, or domestic animals; or (3) Any dog which engages in, or is found to have been trained to engage in, exhibitions of dog fighting; or (4) Any dog at large found to attack, menace, chase, display threatening or aggressive behavior or otherwise threaten, or endanger the safety of any domestic animal or person. COMPLAINT OF VICIOUS AND DANGEROUS DOG (San Francisco Health Code Section 42.3) This form is to be signed by a person who believes that a dog is vicious and dangerous.
