This friendship book was arranged between December 11, 1918 and July 9, 1919 mainly in the Red Cross hospital No. 109 in Evreux, France.More than 50 wounded soldiers stated their acknowledgements for Miss J.H. Coffey, San Franciscan nurse caring for the injured.

TEXT: Je voudrais pouvoir expremer en langue anglaise tout le bien que je pense des infirmiéres americaines en particulier tout le plaisier que m’a causé l’affectuese compagnie de Miss J.H. Coffey - our dear Señorita Pepita - mais les mots me manquent et je dois á mon grande regret, user de ma langue maternelle. Elle ne m’en voudra pas je pense (?) et voudra bien conserver dans un petit coin de son bon coeur, un bon souvenir á l’ami français, bien attristé (?), á la veille de la séparation.

TRANSLATION: I would like to be able to express in the English language all the good things that I think about the American nurses, particularly all the pleasures that the kind company of Miss J.H.Coffey - our dear Senorita Pepita - has caused to me but I don’t have the words and to my regret I have to use my mother tongue.
