SEYMOUR DISTRIBUTION

Page 2: Seymour distribution

Seymour is 100% owned by the Frontline Group (Immediate Media Company, Haymarket Publications, Bauer).

Seymour has 14% share of the total magazine market and the Frontline Group, including Seymour, has 44% share.

I like the idea that they work together with publishers and are interested in what the producer of a text wants.

MARKETINGI like the idea that they work together with publishers and are interested in what the producer of a text wants.

“This gives us the stability and clout to drive your magazine sales…”

This really appeals to me as I Want A company that can Distribute my magazine regionally, nationally and globally.

“Seymour is the largest distributor of UK magazines internationally, exporting magazines to over 90 countries.” They supply over 90 countries and have an excellent international section.

ADVICE THEY HAVE ON PUBLISHING

They have superb advice on how to launch a new magazine “A minimum of 3 months lead time is needed to ensure the best retail acceptance to stock your product is gained. The best launches are planned 6 to 12 months prior to on-sale to ensure that the retail promotional strategy required to fully support the launch is available.”

This means that in 12 months my magazine could be on sale and fully promoted.

WORRIESThey have publishing partner Future who release a magazine of a similar genre to mine ‘Rhythm’. However, I feel I have found a gap in the market as I have a younger TA. I also want to appeal to a female market.

Future’s portfolio includes technology – this is fantastic for my digital audience. It is also possible to subscribe which may appeal to some.

I need to be careful and I have a challenge ahead as one magazine Total Guitar is targeting my audience too. However, again this is very focused on male gender appeal – I really like this front cover and it has the youthful approach I want to achieve. They have very little that targets both genders.
