Setting up your King’s e-mail account on your Windows phone

How to setup your King’s e-mail account, when you do not have any other e-
mail account on the phone
1) Before you setup your King’s e-mail account, please ensure you have
internet access on your phone. Once you have internet access, please
click the Windows icon at the bottom of your display to come to the
home screen. From here, please click on the envelope icon highlighted
in red as shown to the right. If you do not see this exact icon, then it
means you have an e-mail account on your phone and you will need to
follow the steps details in page 3 onwards.
2) After clicking on the envelope icon, please click on Exchange
option as highlighted in red.
3) You will now be taken to a window like the one on the right, where you
will need to put in your KCL e-mail address and your password. Once you
have clicked on the sign in button, the application will find the rest of your
settings automatically.

If you were successful at this stage, please see step 8. If it fails, this just
means that the application needs more information to complete the
setup.
4) Two additional fields should now have appeared as a result of the
application not finding the remaining details for the setup. Please only
fill in the username field with your King’s username followed by
@kcl.ac.uk and then press sign in again.
5) The application will try again to setup your mailbox.
If this was successful, please see step 8. However, if
it fails again please click the advanced option, shown
in the right screenshot highlight in red
6) One more additional filed now needs to be completed as shown to the
right.
The name of the field is called server, please enter
outlook.office365.com. Once you have put this into the field, please
click sign in for the last time and you should have completed the
process.
7) You should now see the status synching on the top left hand corner. This means your KCL
e-mail account has now been setup and e-mails will start to populate onto the application.

How to setup your King’s e-mail account, as an additional e-mail account on
your phone
1) Before you setup your King’s e-mail account, please ensure you have
internet access on your phone. To setup your KCL e-mail account as an
additional e-mail account, please click the Windows icon at the
bottom of your display screen to come to the home screen. From here,
please use one finger to swipe down from the top of the screen to the
bottom.
You should now see the ALL SETTINGS options toward the top right of
your screen. Click this.
2) From the settings list, select email+accounts highlighted in red on your
left and then select add an account when prompted.
3) Now select Exchange as highlighted in red.
4) You will now be taken to a window like the one to the left, where you
will need to put in your KCL e-mail address and your password. Once
you have click on the sign in button, the application will try and find the
rest of your settings automatically.

How to change the volume of emails that are downloaded onto your phone
By default, you phone is set to download e-mails in the last 7 days and so you will only see
the last 7 days e-mails on your phone. If you wish to increase this time period, please follow
the instructions below.
To change this setting, you will need to click on the three dots as highlight
in red in the screenshot on your left.
If you are not seeing the left hand screenshot on your phone, please go to
your home screen by click the Windows icon and look for the following
icon in a red or blue background.
This will bring up 4 settings and you will need to click
on settings to progress. From there, please click on
sync settings
You will now be seeing a
“Download e-mail from” option
with the last 7 days selected. To
change this setting, you will
click on the drop down “the last 7
days” and choose your preferred
option then select the tick icon to
save the change.

How to switch off conversation feature on your phone
To switch this feature off, please go back to your inbox and select the
three dots as highlight in red on your right.
If you are unsure of how to get to your inbox, please go to your home
screen by click the Windows icon and look for the following icon
in a red or blue background.
This will bring up 4 settings and you will need to click on settings to progress.
From here, please slide on the slider for conversation which should
change the status from On to Off.
