Welcome and Proclamation of the Good News
Prelude: On Jordan’s Stormy Banks Anna Laura Page
Resurrection Ringers
*Call to Worship:
O Lord, you once favored your land, restored the good fortune of Jacob. You forgave the guilt
of your people, pardoned all their sins. Selah
You withdrew all your wrath, turned back your burning anger.
Restore us once more, God our savior; abandon your wrath against us. Will you be angry
with us forever, drag out your anger for all generations?
Please give us life again, that your people may rejoice in you. Show us
Lord, your love; grant us your salvation.
I will listen for the word of God; surely the Lord will proclaim peace to his people, to the faith-
ful, to those who trust in God.
Near indeed is salvation for the loyal; prosperity will fill our land. Love and
truth will meet; justice and peace will kiss. Truth will spring from the earth;
justice will look down from heaven. Let us Worship God!
*Glory to God Hymnal #667, verses 1 & 3: When Morning Gilds the Skies
Prayer of Confession Unison Reading
Holy God, your way is blessed and leads to eternal life. You have invited us to
walk with you on paths of righteousness, but we refuse to follow. We think we
know better, and we waste our days chasing after our own selfish desires. We are
fools. We think we know it all and refuse others’ points of view. We use our
knowledge to destroy in so many ways, from the gossip’s tongue to the weapons of
war. Yet for all of our knowledge we cannot save ourselves. Forgive us. Empty us
of our selfishness and self-righteousness that we may be filled with your under-
standing and your Love taught and modeled for us by your son and our Savior,
Jesus Christ in whose name we pray.
(Silent, Personal Prayer)
Assurance of Pardon: Responsive Reading
Who among us is in a position to judge? Only Jesus. And Jesus loves us, Jesus wel-
comed us, Jesus fed us, Jesus died for us, and Jesus rose in triumph for us to defeat
the power of sin and death. In Jesus’ name I declare to you, your sins are forgiven.
Thanks be to God, in Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.
* Song of Joy, Glory to God Hymnal #717: For the Life That You Have Given
For the life that you have given, for the love in Christ made known,
With these fruits of time and labor, with these gifts that are your own:
Here we offer, Lord, our praises, heart and mind and strength we bring;
Give us grace to love and serve you, living what we pray and sing.
* The Peace: “The Peace of the Lord be with you.” “And also with you.”
As a sign of reconciliation please share the Peace of Christ
with your brothers and sisters.
Proclaim God’s Word
Prayer For Illumination:
Holy God, you are the source of all wisdom and light. By your word you give light
to our souls. Pour out your spirit of wisdom and understanding, that as we hear the
Scripture read and the Message proclaimed, our hearts and minds may be opened
to know the things that pertain to following in the way of your Son, Jesus Christ,
our Savior. Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith: from The Confession of Belhar
We Believe that Christ's work of reconciliation is made manifest in the church as the
community of believers who have been reconciled with God and with one another;
We Believe that unity is, therefore, both a gift and an obligation for the church of
Jesus Christ; that through the working of God's Spirit it is a binding force, yet simul-
taneously a reality which must be earnestly pursued and sought: one which the peo-
ple of God must continually be built up to attain;
We Believe that this unity must become visible so that the world may believe that
separation, enmity and hatred between people and groups is sin which Christ has
already conquered, and accordingly that anything which threatens this unity may
have no place in the church and must be resisted;
We Believe that this unity of the people of God must be manifested and be active in a
variety of ways: in that we love one another; that we experience, practice and pursue
community with one another; that we are obligated to give ourselves willingly and
joyfully to be of benefit and blessing to one another; that we share one faith, have one
calling, are of one soul and one mind; have one God and Father, are filled with one
Spirit, are baptized with one baptism, eat of one bread and drink of one cup, confess
one name, are obedient to one Lord, work for one cause, and share one hope; togeth-
er come to know the height and the breadth and the depth of the love of Christ; to-
gether are built up to the stature of Christ, to the new humanity; together know and
bear one another's burdens, thereby fulfilling the law of Christ that we need one an-
other and upbuild one another, admonishing and comforting one another; that we
suffer with one another for the sake of righteousness; pray together; together serve
God in this world; and together fight against all which may threaten or hinder this
unity. Amen

Preschool Director to co-manage the preschool finances

maintaining reports. Monthly time commitment would be

proximately 6-7 board meetings/year. This would be a great volunteer position for
someone with accounting or finance experience! If you are interested or have any
questions, please contact Danni Tymitz ([email protected]).
