CALL TO CONFESSION
ORDER OF DIVINE WORSHIP SIXTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
September 12th, 2021 - 11:00 am
Welcome!
Whether you are worshiping with us for the first time or have grown up here at FPC, we are glad you
have joined us for worship this morning! You can listen live every Sunday at 11:00 am on KSPI
780AM/94.3FM or go to www.stillwaterfpc.org/listenlive and click on the link to join audio livestreaming.
To view the service live, go to www.facebook.com/StillwaterFPC at 11:00 am.
An Update on COVID Response
In response to CDC guidance and with recommendation of FPC’s COVID Response Task Force, our
Session has approved the following revision to FPC’s mask policy: masks need to be worn by all persons over the age of 5, vaccinated or unvaccinated, while inside FPC buildings for events and gatherings,
including worship, to help prevent local spread of COVID-19. As an intergenerational community of
faith, we want to do our very best to be a welcoming and healthy place for all generations, including
those 11 years and under who are not currently eligible to be vaccinated. FPC’s COVID Response Task
Force continues to meet weekly to help guide our ministries and life together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION O Lord, you have called us to take up our cross and follow you: to carry the truth of your justice like a
banner and bear the yoke of life as your servant. We are hesitant, O God, to serve anyone but
ourselves. We draw away from the cross, forgetting that, in you, it has become a source of glory.
Forgive us, O God, and call us once more to set aside our fear and follow in your way. Moment for silent confession
RESPONSE TO CONFESSION .............................................................................................................................. 575
Lord, have mercy upon us; Christ, have mercy upon us; Lord, have mercy upon us.

Sing praise to God who reigns above, the God of all creation,
the God of power, the God of love, the God of our salvation.
With healing balm my soul is filled, and every faithless murmur stilled:
to God all praise and glory!

**AFFIRMATION OF FAITH .......................................................................... from A Brief Statement of Faith (1983)
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good
news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children,
healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and
calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus
was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God
raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil,
delivering us from death to life eternal.

We welcome children of all ages in worship! We know that God made all children
and that wiggles and giggles are part of that. Both the men’s and women’s
restrooms on the first floor (to your left as you exit the Sanctuary) are equipped with
changing tables. If parents prefer, our nursery is open for ages 0-3 in the Preschool
wing.
At the back of the Sanctuary are Children’s Worship Bags, stored on a wooden
tree. Take the bulletin and activity sheets home, but please return the bag with all
other materials to the tree after worship.
