John 15:1-1115:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is thegardener.2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears nofruit, while every branch that does bear fruit heprunes so that it will be even more fruitful.3 You are already clean because of the word Ihave spoken to you.4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. Nobranch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain inthe vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless youremain in me.

John 15:1-115 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a manremains in me and I in him, he will bear muchfruit; apart from me you can do nothing.6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like abranch that is thrown away and withers; suchbranches are picked up, thrown into the fire andburned.7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you,ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear muchfruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

1. God has NOT set us up for failure.

Rom 8:29 Those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son

Phil 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Rom 12:2 Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2 Tim 1:12 know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.

4. Abiding (Continuously) in Christ .

Col 2:6-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him,

Abide in his words7 If you remain in me and my words remain inyou, ask whatever you wish, and it will be givenyou. 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bearmuch fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Abide in his love 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love,

5. We cannot produce fruit. It is the vine

that does it. Our responsibility, remain

connected to the vine to bear fruit and

more fruit.

Luke 3:8-9 Fruit in keeping with repentanceRom 7: 4 Bear fruit to GodGal 5:22 Bear fruit of the SpiritPhil 1: 9 Filled with the fruit of righteousness Col 1:10 Bearing fruit in every good work John 4:37 Sowing and reaping of harvest

6. Hindrances to Abundant Life

• Beware the barrenness of a busy life

• Stunted growth – a child (nepios , infant) but never grow to sonship (huios)

• What (how) you hear Mark 4:24

• Distractions Mark 4:7,19

• Repentance is not for me Luke 9:1-13

Conclude

Isaiah 51 I will sing for the one

I love a song about his vineyard: My lovedone had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.

2 He dug it up and cleared it of stones andplanted it with the choicest vines. He built awatchtower in it and cut out a winepress aswell. Then he looked for a crop of goodgrapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.

Conclude

3 "Now you dwellersin Jerusalem and men of Judah, judgebetween me and my vineyard.

4 What more could have been done for myvineyard than I have done for it?When I looked for good grapes, why did ityield only bad?

Page 24: Sermon living abundantly john 15 1-17 (14-07-06)

5 Now I will tell you what I am going to do to myvineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it willbe destroyed; I will break down its wall, andit will be trampled.

6 I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned norcultivated, and briers and thorns will growthere. I will command the clouds not to rainon it."

7 The vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the houseof Israel, and the men of Judah are the gardenof his delight.
