Great discount!! /Groot Afslag!!
It was great to see that so many of our students made use of the Great Discount this week. The cost of the
existing Sports Uniforms (i.e. old Barbarian) has been reduced by 50% of the usual cost price, plus VAT. We
are in the process of phasing in the new Canterbury Sports Uniforms and many of our sports teams will
still be competing in the Barbarian Sports Uniforms.

Children's Prayers A mother was teaching her 3-year-old the Lord's prayer. For several evenings at bedtime she repeated it after her mother. One night she said she was ready to solo. The mother listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer. "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some e-mail, Amen." A 4-year-old boy who was asked to return thanks before Christmas dinner. The
family members bowed their heads in expectation. He began his prayer, thanking
God for all his friends, naming them one by one. Then he thanked God for Mommy,
Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his aunts and uncles. Then he
began to thank God for the food. He gave thanks for the turkey, the dressing, the
fruit salad, the cranberry sauce, the pies, the cakes, even the Cool Whip. Then he
paused, and everyone waited--and waited. After a long silence, the young fellow
looked up at his mother and asked, "If I thank God for the broccoli, won't he know
that I'm lying?"
A daddy was listening to his child say his prayer "Dear Harold," At this, dad inter-
rupted and said, "Wait a minute, "How come you called God, Harold? The little boy
looked up and said, "That's what they call Him in church. You know the prayer we
say, "Our Father, who art in Heaven, Harold be Thy name."
And this particular four-year-old prayed: "And forgive us our trash baskets as we
forgive those who put trash in our baskets."
A little boy's prayer: "Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and
my sister and my brother and my doggy and me. Oh, please take care of yourself,
God. If anything happens to you, we're gonna be in a big mess."

Each year we hold a coin drive to raise money to plant trees on
our school grounds. Last year we raised about R3000, a phenome-
nal amount amongst our ten high school classes. Due to the con-
tinual building on the school grounds it was decided to hold back
a bit but this year I am confident that we can get planting !
Please start collecting all those coins that weigh your purses and
wallets down and send them to school. Our present learners as
well as those to come will appreciate the shade and beauty these
trees will bring. Many thanks in advance / Elke jaar hou ons ‘n
voltooi is.
Byvoorbaat dankie
vir u ondersteuning

This term our charity drive is for the homeless and indigent families during winter time. Please donate non-perishable
items like tinned food, pasta, rice, soup etc. We will also collect clean, second hand jerseys/jackets and blankets.
The class who brings the most items will have a pizza and cool drink lunch. Outreach members will be knitting squares
that will be sewn together to make blankets. Anyone can join in by knitting or getting Mommies and Grannies to knit
for us. Blocks should be 15cm by 15cm. All donations should be handed to the Outreach representative who will
regularly collect items during registration period. All donations will be given to Oliver’s House that supports a hun-
dred needy families and the Kempton Methodist Church that runs a soup kitchen at Festival Mall. Spare a thought
for the homeless and poor as we sit, tummies full, warm and toasty in the comfort of our homes this winter. We thank
skapsprojek gaan ook vierkante brei van 15cm by 15 cm so as daar enige oumas of mammas is wat wil help is u meer as
welkom.
steuning.

Rock ‘n Ride for Rhino’s
Last week on Thursday, we had the privilege of meeting Jason Hartman (Idols win-
ner) at Curro Serengeti. Wow, what an amazing humanitarian he is! The reason for
his visit was actually two-fold. He is now working with a group of amazing people
to save rhino’s. They are riding around the country, educating learners on how to
preserve our heritage. Our learners have the privilege of being directly involved in
this process. All they have to do is bring in any amount of money and hand it to
their register teacher. The second reason was to entertain us. He has an awesome
voice and the learners absolutely loved him. Please support our fund raising as all
the funds will go towards the rhino’s.
