ISSUE #305 MONTHLY PUBLICATION OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, SEBRING, FLORIDA September 2012

2012 YEAR OF CELEBRATION

..the righteous are glad; they rejoice before God and celebrate with joy.” Psalm 68:3 HCSB

Pastor's Corner: It's hard to believe September is

already here. The summer flew

by. Actually, this whole year is

flying by!

Things are going well here at First

Baptist Sebring...

A lot of progress has been made in ministering to

children. Tamra Annette is starting a new children's

church ministry called "252 Crew" and it begins this

month. Mandy Lower led three fun events for children

during the summer, and is looking forward to doing

more throughout the year. I appreciate these two

ladies!

Things at the preschool are going great. It's a new

year with new leadership, new energy, and new

focus. I'm proud of Dixie Lynn Kreulen and the team

of workers who are rallying together to make this a

special year for our students.

The Constitution Committee has finished their

work. The document is done. Now it is being shown

to committees and church staff. Very soon it will be

presented to the whole church family for discussion

and a vote. I think it is a great constitution that will

help our church be much more focused and efficient

in its work.

It's time for Upward Basketball. The 2013 season is

not far away, and we have much to do to prepare for

it. You will be seeing and hearing a lot about this

important ministry in the upcoming weeks. Will you

be willing to volunteer this year? Consider lending a

hand. I guarantee you will be glad you did. This is a

wonderful ministry that really makes a difference in

our community.

Finally, we are going to do a one night "Fall Festival"

on Wednesday, October 31 instead of Judgment

House this year. The staff and I all agreed it would be

a good change for 2012. This will be a HUGE event to

reach out to families in our community. Of course, we

are open to doing Judgment House again in the

future; however, for 2012, we think it's best to do

something different. More details to come about our

"Fall Festival".

So that's the latest. There's plenty going on around

here. I feel good about this church. And I love being

your pastor.

MINISTER OF MUSIC toward our 25th Annual Singing Christmas Tree. We do already have dates for that too. December 13, 14 and 16 at 7 pm. Start spreading the word around our community about our great tradition at FB Sebring.

I am so blessed to work with a great number of volunteers in our sound booth. Especially lately, with the new sound system and media system. They have been working and learning so attentively to best understand this system and use the best of their new skills on Sundays and other events.

Of course, we never run out of space for volunteers! So if you feel like you want to check us out for any of these ministries, please come on over. We are anxiously waiting for you!

Have a blessed September! Nuno

Hi Everyone!! I am having a

great time over here in the

Preschool getting to know

the employees, parents, and

children that come to our Preschool.

Our open house was a huge success and

everyone loved the Dr. Seuss theme we had.

We just received some new laptops for our

3 year old and 4 year old classes and so

excited to start using them. Thank you so

much for your donations!

Thank you for the prayers and continued

support of this ministry. If you haven’t had

a chance to see the upgrades to the nursery

area, please check us out on Sunday after

church!

PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR

Ok! So schools are back in session! That means summer break is over! But what I like about this fact is that many things around our church are going to be back in action and also new things are coming to surface!

Wednesday night meals are back. Just the other day I saw Erik, our chef, getting things ready! I am so excited to eat and fellowship with many of you.

Kids choir is starting back up! Bring your children and your neighbors’ children to be a part of this year’s Christmas program. Our play for this Christmas is “The Secret of Snowflake County.” With a lot of fun songs and a clear message of the Gospel and the true message of Christmas, our participants will love spending time learning this year’s music. As you know, your choir came back from a six week “vacation” and is working diligently

God’s Garden In growing a healthy, fruit-bearing church, try this plan.

Plant Three rows of squash:

Squash gossip

Squash criticism

Squash indifference

Plant Seven rows of peas:

Prayer

Promptness

Perseverance

Politeness

Preparedness

Purity

Patience

Plant seven heads of lettuce:

Let us be unselfish and loyal

Let us be faithful to duty

Let us search for Scriptures

Let us not be weary in well-doing

Let us be obedient in all things

Let us be truthful

Let us love one another

No garden is complete without turnips:

Turn up for church

Turn up for meetings, in prayer, and Bible study

Turn up with a smile, even when things are difficult

Turn up with determination to do you best in God’s

service

After planting, may you grow in grace and in the knowl-

edge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

And may you reap rich results.

THANK YOU!!!

Dear Church Family,

We want to express our great appreciation to all

of you who are loving us through the loss of Jeff,

our precious son, who showed compassion and

love to those he met briefly and to those with

whom he shared many years. If you loved him, we

thank you. We ask for your continuing prayers for

us and our daughter, Joy, and her family.

The plants in the dish garden you sent will soon be

flourishing in the garden his dad is planting in his

memory. Come visit anytime. We love all of you

and we will be forever grateful to our Lord and

Savior for the loving church family He has given us.

Dave and Doris Magowan

Dear Saints of God at First Baptist Sebring,

Thank you so much for the beautiful arrangement

of flowers you sent to the funeral of our mother.

Your kindness and thoughtfulness was magnified

by the presence of David, George and Nuno at the

service.

We feel a special bond with you—not just because

of Clay’s consulting and family, but because of the

genuiness of your love toward us. Thank you so

much.

Grace,

Clemie Jo Lamb, Steve Smith & Clay Smith
