It was great to see Daffodil Day well supported and a big thank you to businesses who provided a space for the donation boxes for the day. Next year we would like to have them out a little earlier perhaps the beginning of August.

Bizlink has its Annual General Meeting at the Hawera Club on the 19th September 5.15pm. Anyone wanting to join our executive committee is most welcome to fi ll out a nomination form, available from our offi ce or via email [email protected]. Committee members are required to attend a meeting once a month, missing no more than three meetings a year. Committee members provide a strong backbone of support for our Bizlink co-ordinators, they are busy business owners who voluntarily put time into strengthening the wider business community.

On another note we are busy planning the participation of our local retailers with fl oral window displays and fl ower pots outside businesses during the Powerco Taranaki Garden Spectacular and Fringe Garden Festival. We are putting together a “Think Local, Think Loyal” Campaign leading into our Christmas Street Festival and Parade Day – 10th December.

“Ndub Signs and Designs” has just set up premises opposite Pak’n Save on Princes Street, they specialise in Motor Sport and Vehicle Graphics. Nathan West and Claire Meads are involved in the motor sport scene themselves and sponsor the Honda New Zealand race team. Nathan was always keen on Moto X and has a good eye when it comes to designing the graphics for them. Claire is a Hawera girl who worked for Fonterra for eight years before meeting Nathan from Inglewood, and deciding to sink their teeth into this exciting new venture together. Claire says Nathan “does all the sticky stuff while I focus on vehicle tints and the bookwork”. Claire also showed me the huge printer that makes all this magic happen and says their technology sets them apart from everyone else! If you are planning to put some funky graphics onto your vehicle or need a tint, you would be wise to see what they can offer!

Look at this enthusiastic bunch of students. They are all at the beginning stages of their 17 week course which will give them not only a NZ Certifi cate in Food and Beverage but also two internationally recognised “City and Guild” Certifi cates. This is an impressive qualifi cation for our youth. By utilising their training café, “Study Break” on Union street you will be showing your support to the trainee’s. Study Break will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from 10- 2pm. The café will use Ozone coffee and will be provide a selection of sweets and savoury’s. Course tutor Sarah Pene is thrilled with this terms intake

and asks that the public be kind. “Remember to nurture and support them, they will want genuine and honest feedback but remember the positives too.”
