Room 1’s Crockpot Hangi On Friday, our last day of our Matariki week our class, (Room One), celebrated
together by preparing and sharing a meal together. We made a hangi. It was delicious. We were able to try new foods that some of us hadn’t tried before. This week we used our skills we are developing using google docs to create a
document with the instructions for making a hangi in a crock pot, just like we did. We used: titles, colour, font size and style, bullet points, pictures, underlining,
voice typing, bold writing and much more. Here is one of our class members’ pieces of work.
Ingredients:
Cabbage leaf, stuffing, potato, kumara, carrot, Lamb neck,
chicken nibbles and salt ‘n’ pepper.
Equipment:
Crockpot, tinfoil, knife, fork and spoon.
Method:
1. Wash your hands.
2. Roll some tinfoil into a ball.
3. Put the tinfoil balls in a crockpot to elevate it.
4. Get a straight piece of tinfoil and lay it out on a flat surface.
5. Put a cabbage leaf on the tinfoil.
6. Roll some stuffing into a ball.
7. Then we put potatoes, pumpkin, kumara and carrots in the cabbage leaf.
8. After that we put some lamb necks and chicken nibbles on the vegetables.
9. Now put some salt and pepper on the hangi.
10. Roll the tinfoil over the cabbage leaf without making any holes and place in the crockpot.
11. Cook it on high for 4 hours. 12. After 4 hours, dig in.
