Weve been working towards achieving our Vision of Patient Inspired Care without Boundaries through our 5-year strategic plan.

Weve made some tremendous progress across all of our 4 Strategic Directions Im proud of what weve accomplished together (speak to some highlights):-advancing our ambitious redevelopment projects in Brampton and Etobicoke-strengthening our regional partnerships to benefit patients and families across the CW LHIN-expanding our programs/services for the communities we serve-building a strong leadership team

The success Osler has achieved over the past number of years has been a team effort and Im confident Osler will continue to do great things.Opening Peel Memorial in just a few shorts weeksCompletion of the new wing and ASB at EGHAchieving Accreditation with Exemplary StandingAnd so much moreIm proud of the strong leadership weve build at Osler at all levels (from front-line to SLT).We are fortunate to have great leaders and I know you will be in good hands.

organizational updates Leadership TransitionJoanne Flewwelling, Interim President & CEO Business as usual Board Search Committee struckOngoing updates

#

MATT

We are fortunate to have strong leadership, to step up and take the reins during a leadership transition.

Joanne Flewwelling, EVP Clinical Services and CNE, will transition to Interim CEO upon my departure.A senior leader at Osler for more than seven years, Joanne is also a registered nurse with close to 30 years of experience (joke that she started when she was just 10 years old).

Under Jos leadership Osler will continue to successfully focus on Accreditation, the opening of Peel Memorial and expansion of Etobicoke General, as well as the numerous projects currently underway.

The Board of Directors has struck a search committee and will begin a recruitment process for a new President and CEO successor over the coming weeks.

By the end of this week, we will be letting everyone know what the new interim clinical structure will look like to facilitate this transition.CALL UP JO

2016-17 ANNUAL BUSINESS PLANPeel Memorial & EGH Redevelopment(Improve Access)

Operations/Service Excellence(Clinical & Service Quality)

Accreditation(Exemplary Standing)

#

JOAs we shared in earlier town halls this year these are our priorities for the year ahead:

Opening Peel Memorial (in just a few weeks!), were on track with our EGH expansion projects, and back-filling BCHOperations and service excellence meeting increasing volumesWere on track for maintaining Accreditation with Exemplary Standing

Budget Updateto help us plan for the years ahead we will complete an operational review (through a third party Preyra Solutions Group)we havent done in the last 5 years so it was time-this will help us ensure we continue to provide those services most needed by our community and position us strongly for the future7

SHOWCASING OUR QUALITY COMMITMENTReplace with new headerMaintain our Accreditation with Exemplary Standing Status

Sustain our quality journey

Ingrain standards of excellence in daily practice

Only 41 sleeps!!

#

JOOnly 41 sleeps! Its our time to shine and showcase what we do!

There is no finish line..this is a marathon, not a race..8

OUR GOAL - WHAT IT TAKES

Meeting a minimum of 95% of standardsand

Meeting 100% of the ROPs and all tests for compliance of each ROP

NEW! Patient and family involvement and shared decision-making in care

#

JOThere are over 2700 standards that will be evaluated during our on site visit October 24-28.

We must meet a minimum of 95% of them in all areas across the organization, clinical and non-clinical.

And we must meet 100% of the ROPs.

New this year: Significant revisions have been made throughout the standards to strengthen and broaden the client- and family-centred care content. This change reflects and promotes the need for meaningful involvement and shared decision-making by client and families throughout the care process.

Consider making this section interactive by asking for the audience to name some ROPs:

lets pause for a moment.name some ROPs for mejust shout them out

We have 31 and you listed many of them.

There are ROPs that affect everyone. Examples of these are:Hand hygieneWorkplace Violence PreventionIncident Reporting9

PAUSE TO CELEBRATE!So far..5 leading practices! Osler Suicide Interview Checklist (OSIC)Hand Hygiene Hands AppChecklist for Ethical and Legal Obligation (ChELO)Individualized Summary for Use in LTC (Osler/LTC)Cultivating Collaboration Across the Continuum of Care Through Diverse Clinical and Community Partnerships

PLUS....one Commendable practicePatient Inspired Ethical Framework

FLASHBACK TO 201213 submitted1 accepted

#

JOSo far : weve had 10 leading practice submissions and 5 have been accepted!

Compared to same time during our 2012 Accreditation at this time we had submitted 13 leading practices and one had been accepted

Leading practices are not easy to achieve. It is a national recognition and one that must meet at minimum these two distinctions:

We do something that no one else in the country doesWe do something better or more unique than anyone else in the country

Osler is proud to have the distinct honour of a prestigious recognition for 5 leading practices

New this year, if a practice was not accepted as leading but still acknowledged by Accreditation Canada as something that is Commendable.

This is still a formal recognition of a best practice for Osler and one that Accreditation Canada will post on their website and recommend as a best practice educational tool for other organizations!

There are many things we do at Osler that we believe are best practices (for examples the recent recognition from the Canadian Diabetes Association for our DEC) and to have a body like Accreditation Canada formally recognize this is a wonderful source of pride for us.

Thank you for all you do in providing exemplary care at Osler.10

YOU ARE HERE

#

JOIts important that we know whats in our unit and program goals and objectives, where to find them and how they fit into the overall corporate strategic plans.

Our corporate documents area all located on Oslernet.

Please continue to use huddle boards as a place to display your unit and program goals and objectives.

One of the new ROPs this cycle is the requirement to have a Patient Safety Plan. In the past, Osler has been very successful in demonstrating how patient safety is threaded through the fabric of everything we do at Osler and deeply ingrained in our quality culture. Because it is an ROP, Osler has its first Patient Safety Plan though it is not a stand-alone document. It is informed by existing multi-year plans, corporate plans and annual plans.

11

SERVICE QUALITY KNOW YOUR ROLE

What do I do to support safe patient care at Osler?

#

We are ALL accountable for quality and safety as our core business is patient care. For those of you in support roles, everything you do impacts those who directly take care of our patients so your role in quality and safety is equally essential. Whether you work in IT, finance, Biomed, HR, or in clinical services all of us are committed to exemplary care for our patients and their families.

Osler is a high reliability organization whereby patient safety is a key strategic priority.

Meeting all the ROPs is one way to ensure that we are providing the safest care possible

Your role is ensuring that you are meeting the standards of practices every single day for every single patient every single time.
