Welcome Carla Kooistra!

Mannville's New Chief Administrative Officer

I started in Municipal Government 11 years ago with the Town of Athabasca as an Information Services

Officer and slowly climbed my way up the ladder to become the Office Supervisor, Finance

Officer. During my time with the Town I enrolled in the National Advance Certificate in Local

Authority Administration with U of A and received my final certificate in 2014.

In 2015 my family and I relocated to Fort McMurray so my husband could stop commuting, as he has

done for the past 11 years and we could be together as one family unit. My children, ages 15, 5 and 3,

were so excited to have their dad home every night, it really changed the dynamics of our family for the

better. I continued my career in Local Governance with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as a

Program Coordinator in the Engineering Department.

Unfortunately, due to the unforeseen wildfire that happened this past Spring, my husband and I were not

comfortable bringing the kids back to Fort McMurray. So on August 15, 2016, my family relocated to

this beautiful Village which we now call home. I have my sister’s family living in Vegreville so we still

have family close by which will help make the kids transition easier.
