From the AD’s Desk: Welcome Back Squire Athletic Fans!!! Fall athletics have been underway for a month with many outstanding performances in the early part of the 2016 fall season. Come out and support our student-athletes as they represent Manchester Community Schools and the North Manchester Community. We are proud of how our student-athletes represent themselves as once again Manchester has earned the IHSAA sportsmanship award for the 2015-2016 school year. This is a tribute to our coaches, teachers, and parents for their commitment to help our young people develop and grow as students, athletes, and young adults. Go Squires!!

2016 Wabash County Cross Country Champions – Girl’s Junior High

WHAT IS A SQUIRE? A Squire was originally a young man who aspired to the rank of knighthood. A Squire was the second stage to becoming a Knight, after serving first as a page. Once became a Squire at the age of 14. As part of his development to that end, he served an existing Knight as an attendant or shield carrier. The Squire would sometimes carry the Knight’s flag to battle with his master. If he proved his loyalty in battle, he would have a dubbing, an official ceremony to become a Knight!!!

IHSAA Student Athlete Tip of the Week One of the many responsibilities of a coach or teacher is to correct the student-athlete when you do something wrong or need improvement. How are you when it comes to handling constructive criticism or suggestions? Remember, there are all different styles and deliveries when teaching or coaching someone. Be sure to listen to the message. Some will be negative in the delivery, others will be positive. But filter the delivery and listen to the message. Handling criticism and instruction will only make you better. Everyone needs improvement, so take those suggestions to help you become a better person, student, and athlete!
