Just remember that a mind is like a parachute, it only works when it’s open. As an Order we must continue to overcome the stumbling blocks that some think of as mountains. Are they mountains or small bumps that can be changed with simple ideas? We continue to support our Community with programs to encourage our kids to compete and keep them active through sports programs. We held our Batters Up program in June and forty-five kids ranging from age 5 to age 13 competed for medals and the honor to represent Palisades Park/Ft. Lee Elks at the Regional level. The following kids won the Regional competition and advanced to the State Level held on August 17. Girls Winner: Emily Kim age 13 Boys Winners: Tristian Lee age 5-7 Niko Gonzalez age 9 Marcus Duran age 12 In October our Lodge will be hosting a tricky-tray to raise money to support all activities at the Lodge. Please help support Gen and Carol on having a successful fundraiser. Keep an eye open for a letter in the mail with more details. Clam Bake: 8/17/2013

At the July 18, 2013 Lodge Meeting a special election was ordered to

fill vacancy of 4-year Trustee position. At the August 15, 2013 Lodge

Meeting, there were no additional nominations for position of 4 year

Trustee. Bob Duffy was elected to 4-year Trustee position and Installed by

Mike Gordon, PVP at the August 15 meeting.

ER Dan Ryan sends a Thank you to:

Earl Abozed, Fast Eddie, Gene Gallagher, Mike Gordon, Gen Lazzaro, Ed Sullivan for helping set up and run the District and Regional Batters Up Events.

Thank you also to Jennifer Kowal and Amy Ryan for attending State Batter Up Competition.

Our Lodge received an award for Best in the State for participation in this competition. More details next month.

Youth: Four Batters Up participants representing our Lodge moved past Regional competition to represent us at State Competition. State Batters up competition held August 17th, more information in next month’s bulletin.

Reminder to House Committee and Board of Directors: A copy of your meeting minutes is required to be on file in the office for when DDGER makes inspection in the fall. Please make sure to keep up to date.
