Should the word Christian and camouflage ever be used in the same sentence Generally when you use camouflage for its intended purpose you are
attempting to conceal something from someone else I suppose there are a few legitimate reasons to conceal your faith For example believers that live in foreign countries are sometimes forced to deliberately conceal their identity or they run the risk of imprisonment or even death The underground churches around the world that find themselves in these situations however they canrsquot fully camouflage themselves otherwise the Gospel would never spread
I have noticed an increasing number of camouflaged Christians lately I am not sure if the number of such people is actually increasing or if God is just making me more aware of them for some reason These people deliberately hide their faith from others and they have no good reason to do so They conceal their beliefs even to the point of acting like unbelievers Most of them do it in an attempt to please other people and gain their approval Some put on their camouflage before they head to school others before they go to work or local grocery store Many feel they must hide their faith before heading out on a Friday or Saturday night This seems strange to me and inconsistent with the Christian faith
Of all of the worlds religions Christianity is certainly the most open and transparent The Bible encourages all believers to live and walk as Jesus walked Jesus practiced his ministry and lived his life in the light and we should as well When we cover our faith and beliefs we are intentionally diminishing the amount of light others are able to see This ensures that many will continue to live in the darkness I want to encourage you to let your light shine today Donrsquot hide it under a basket leave your Christian camouflage at home today Go out into the world and show off the new creation God has produced

at Cowboy Fellowship
Good morning Life Line Screening will be set up at Cowboy Fellowship on 9262012 to screen for stroke vascular disease and heart rhythm As many of you may not know stroke is a lead-ing cause of death today affecting over 750000 people each year Every 45 seconds in America someone suffers a stroke and every 3 minutes someone dies from one This means that during the time it will take you to read this approximately 15 people in the United States will have died due to a stroke According to the National Stroke Association approximately 97 of Americans cannot recognize the signs of stroke Life Line Screening a leading mobile health screen-ing service offers potentially life-saving ultrasound screenings These tests are important and necessary Most people donrsquot realize that these tests are not typically offered during a regular physical as they are not usually covered by insurance so for most of you and the people you love stroke prevention lies in your hands Stroke can change your life but it can also take your life Please consider taking part in these potentially life-saving screenings Life Line Screening will provide Cowboy Fellowship members a $10 additional discounts off of a screening package If you would like to take the next step in possibly saving your life or the life of someone you know please place your name the tests you would like and your phone number on the sign-up sheet provided (on the table at the back of the church) or call the registration number listed below

Mission Trip Sept 23rd-Oct 6th
Hyderabad India
Two years ago around VBS
time Pete and I had finished
up a book called rdquoRadical
Churchrdquo in that book we had
read about a organization that
was going to villages and
preaching the gospel From
some of the villages the young
men that had been saved
would be invited to come back
to a bible training school and
go through some basic bible
training After the training the
organization would help send
them back to their villages to
help teach the word of God in
the village There were great
stories of villages coming to
Christ as well as tragic stories
of villages killing the young
men that came back home to share the love of God because they didnrsquot want to hear it That stuck a note in our
hearts
Pete had mentioned that he didnrsquot feel called to India but would anyone on our staff be willing to go
Without hesitation I volunteered Things started coming together after that conversation I remember a friend
that I had gone to college with at Dallas Baptist University Her name was Mary Gollapalle at the time I had lost
touch with her but was soon able to regain contact through some professors that were mutual friends of ours
Mary put me in contact with her brother David and we hit it off After we talked he shared this story with
me He told me of two men a dad and his son The young teenage son was having dreams of a man coming into
his room and tapping on his shoulder and telling him ldquocome and follow merdquo The young man had the dream sev-
eral times for weeks so much so he thought it was real Every time he would wake up and look down the hall
expecting to see the man but he was never there The young man became frighten and set his mind to go and talk
to his father He was afraid to do this because if his dad through he was crazy he would disinherit him from the
familyrsquos will and banish him from the home as well He just had to talk to his dad though he just couldnrsquot hold it
in any longerhellip
Continued on next page
India Mission Trip Page 11
ldquoDadhellip Dadhellip Dad can I talk to yourdquo ask the young man ldquoWhat is it son what can I do for yourdquo ldquoDad I am
sorry to interrupt you in the midst of your Hindu prayers but I need to tell you about a dream I have been having
and I donrsquot know what to do about itrdquo ldquoWell son go ahead tell me your dream and I will see what I can do to
helprdquo So the son took time to explain the dream to his father he told him how real it felt how he could feel the
man touching his shoulder and his words of ldquocome and follow merdquo Dad I donrsquot know who it is and he started
to break down in tears ldquoHow can I follow a man that I donrsquot know who it isrdquo His dad grabbed his son by the
shoulders and looked him in the eye ldquoson it will be ok I think I know who this man is because he has been com-
ing to me in my dreams and telling me the same thingrdquo ldquoReally dad who is herdquo ldquoHe told me his name was Je-
susrdquo The son was beside himself and had so many questions for his dad His dad did not know himself what to
tell him His dad said ldquoI have heard that name spoken before down at the open market where they dunk the peo-
ple into the water (an open market baptism) Let us go there and hear what they have to say about his namerdquo His
son agreed and they took off for the market When they got there they heard David preaching the gospel and they
open their hearts to the message and the love of Jesus and accepted him as their Savior and now follow Him
David said ldquoScotty if God is out there calling people unto himself people who had never heard us preach the
gospel before people who did not have Christian friends people who had never heard of Jesus if God is willing
to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
is and in what he is doing Please Brother Scotty come and preach the Gospel please donrsquot take this the wrong
way but you are white and people will come to hear you that would never come to hear me preach because of my
skin color but they will come and hear you Please know I want you to come if your church will send you and
prayerfully we can reach thousands for Christ while you are here
So here we are a team of three going to India praying and seeking God out asking him to use us to
share the gospel in some villages in the orphanages at a youth conference and in the open market and at Baptism
and on one of our Sunday mornings at church We will be working with Hyderabad Baptist Church itrsquos the largest
Baptist church India over 20000 attended on the weekend service and they have 159 satellite Campuses Please
pray for our travel the ability to be able to adapt to the culture the food the people and that we hear Godrsquos voice
clearly and are able to share those things with the people we get to know

My First Love
Posted 15 Aug 2012 0553 PM PDT
Larry and I were talking the other night about how we wanted to teach our daughter about God Two months have passed since she was born and to be honest it has been challenging and wonderful all at the same time With late night feedings and learning to be parents I personally havent had the discipline to spend the time that I desire to spend with God Its so easy to allow that part of our lives to fade into the background isnt it God who was my First Love gets put aside and other things take precedence I dont like it I miss my time with the One who gives us all things I want to feel His presence and hear His voice Its a slow fade and before you know it you find your-self living a life out of your own strength Larry and I both found a relationship with Christ while in college We talked about how we didnt want to teach our daughter to just go to church on Sunday And yet I know it is so easy to fall in that trap Its so easy to put Him in a box to only visit once a week He is so much more to us than that But how do we teach her to love Him How will she learn who God truly is This morning I read Ann Voskamps blog titled How to Really Live The story hit home in many ways She says There are a thousand ways to be lukewarm and therersquos a reason I know that Irsquove been apathetic about grace and casual about Christ and you can lose your First Love faster than you can lose the 100 meter dash And when you lose your First Love you donrsquot just lose your way mdash you lose your mind She goes on to tell the story of how a man escaped from Auchwitz during WWII and the repercussions that others faced because of it You can read the story here httpwwwaholyexperiencecom After reading the story I could only bow my head as tears streamed down my face Lord show us how to live Show us how to love Teach me to be still Lord in the midst of the busyness I opened my eyes and I saw this reminder
I wrote it down when I found out that I was pregnant I wrote it when I was scared of possibly losing the life that was growing inside of me When I was scared or unsure I would read this quote and be reassured that I can trust God completely I can trust Him even when it doesnt work out the way I want I read it this morn-ing and was reminded of His love for me for all of mankind

She squats on my front porch her backbone protruding from her naked back Her skirt is tattered and several sizes too small Her small pile of belongings rests beside her several bottle caps an empty salt bag which she was licking as she came and a jerry can lid She cant be more than seven maybe eight I crouch next to her trying to communicate She seems unfazed by me a strange white woman and only glances at me curious and unafraid wondering why she has been brought here to my home I bring her a bowl of food and her whole face light up as if food is an unexpected and unusual surprise She begins methodically eating her bowl of beans and posho stopping after each bite to lick her hand front and back like a cat cleaning itself Now and then she looks up and scans the yard her eyes frequently resting on my dog lying at her feet She offers him a handful of food tilting her head and clicking at him in her own language He seems to understand and gratefully accepts her offering She eats and eats and eats full but unwilling to leave even a bite of food uneaten I try to explain that I will give her a bowl to take the uneaten food with her but she doesnt understand and keeps eating slowly now bean by bean We bring a basin and soap hoping to wash her and give her a clean set of clothes Apparently bathing is a new thing to her She touches the water and begins to scream and squeal crawling back into a corner of my porch to crouch cold and naked like a cornered animal She is hysterical squealing and clicking at us all goodwill forgotten in her fear of a bath I keep my distance not wanting to scare her more but her attention span is like that of a one year old and she is quickly distracted by her empty food bowl She picks it up again and begins to lick it slowly until it looks unused and clean I come close to her again talking softly with a clean shirt and her own skirt She is calm again her almost-bath forgotten and lets me dress her like a little child She gathers her treasures including her empty and clean food bowl and runs to the gate chattering happily in clicks and whistles Her belly is full and she is content for today I hear her story from various people and compare their accounts trying to find the truth Some things are the same she has been on the street for several years an orphan no one wants to deal with They say shes crazy a child who eats poop and grunts clicks and whistles to communicate She seems more like a wild animal than a child a feral untamed animal Everyone around knows who she is and even how she lives but no one wants to help her She is seen daily but not really Not with His eyes This week I have been thinking a lot about people how we are created in the image of God and what that really means God is good and beautiful and creative and love But we seem to be just the opposite broken and sinful and angry and selfish More often than not these bad things are the only things we see in ourselves and in others Our brokenness overshadows our beauty We seem so incapable of seeing beauty that we even sometimes question whether God is really good The broken sinfulness of our humanity hides the goodness that surrounds us the goodness that God created in us and around us and for us But when we see with His eyes hellipthe woman who pokes me with her nub of a hand begging for money every single time I see herhellip hellipthe street boys who tell my little girls all the nasty things they want to do to themhellip hellipthe alcoholic mother who beats her childrenhellip hellipthe man whose leg wound makes my stomach turnhellip hellipthe homeless man with bad breath and stinky clotheshellip hellipand the little orphaned and abandoned girl that everyone says is crazy They are all beautiful Because get this they are all created in the image of God They are all created to be good and beautiful and creative and to love and be loved Francis Schaeffer wrote people are magnificent even in ruin And our job as followers of Christ is to find that magnificence even in the brokenness that surrounds each one of us Because its there It may be hidden but its there May we see with the eyes of Jesus who saw the crowds following Him not as a nuisance but as harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd May the eyes of our hearts be enlightened to see the beauty that surrounds us every day Jesus the mender You take me apart Put my heart in my throat and my eyes in my heart

Two years ago around VBS
time Pete and I had finished
up a book called rdquoRadical
Churchrdquo in that book we had
read about a organization that
was going to villages and
preaching the gospel From
some of the villages the young
men that had been saved
would be invited to come back
to a bible training school and
go through some basic bible
training After the training the
organization would help send
them back to their villages to
help teach the word of God in
the village There were great
stories of villages coming to
Christ as well as tragic stories
of villages killing the young
men that came back home to share the love of God because they didnrsquot want to hear it That stuck a note in our
hearts
Pete had mentioned that he didnrsquot feel called to India but would anyone on our staff be willing to go
Without hesitation I volunteered Things started coming together after that conversation I remember a friend
that I had gone to college with at Dallas Baptist University Her name was Mary Gollapalle at the time I had lost
touch with her but was soon able to regain contact through some professors that were mutual friends of ours
Mary put me in contact with her brother David and we hit it off After we talked he shared this story with
me He told me of two men a dad and his son The young teenage son was having dreams of a man coming into
his room and tapping on his shoulder and telling him ldquocome and follow merdquo The young man had the dream sev-
eral times for weeks so much so he thought it was real Every time he would wake up and look down the hall
expecting to see the man but he was never there The young man became frighten and set his mind to go and talk
to his father He was afraid to do this because if his dad through he was crazy he would disinherit him from the
familyrsquos will and banish him from the home as well He just had to talk to his dad though he just couldnrsquot hold it
in any longerhellip

ldquoDadhellip Dadhellip Dad can I talk to yourdquo ask the young man ldquoWhat is it son what can I do for yourdquo ldquoDad I am
sorry to interrupt you in the midst of your Hindu prayers but I need to tell you about a dream I have been having
and I donrsquot know what to do about itrdquo ldquoWell son go ahead tell me your dream and I will see what I can do to
helprdquo So the son took time to explain the dream to his father he told him how real it felt how he could feel the
man touching his shoulder and his words of ldquocome and follow merdquo Dad I donrsquot know who it is and he started
to break down in tears ldquoHow can I follow a man that I donrsquot know who it isrdquo His dad grabbed his son by the
shoulders and looked him in the eye ldquoson it will be ok I think I know who this man is because he has been com-
ing to me in my dreams and telling me the same thingrdquo ldquoReally dad who is herdquo ldquoHe told me his name was Je-
susrdquo The son was beside himself and had so many questions for his dad His dad did not know himself what to
tell him His dad said ldquoI have heard that name spoken before down at the open market where they dunk the peo-
ple into the water (an open market baptism) Let us go there and hear what they have to say about his namerdquo His
son agreed and they took off for the market When they got there they heard David preaching the gospel and they
open their hearts to the message and the love of Jesus and accepted him as their Savior and now follow Him
David said ldquoScotty if God is out there calling people unto himself people who had never heard us preach the
gospel before people who did not have Christian friends people who had never heard of Jesus if God is willing
to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
is and in what he is doing Please Brother Scotty come and preach the Gospel please donrsquot take this the wrong
way but you are white and people will come to hear you that would never come to hear me preach because of my
skin color but they will come and hear you Please know I want you to come if your church will send you and
prayerfully we can reach thousands for Christ while you are here
So here we are a team of three going to India praying and seeking God out asking him to use us to
share the gospel in some villages in the orphanages at a youth conference and in the open market and at Baptism
and on one of our Sunday mornings at church We will be working with Hyderabad Baptist Church itrsquos the largest

She squats on my front porch her backbone protruding from her naked back Her skirt is tattered and several sizes too small Her small pile of belongings rests beside her several bottle caps an empty salt bag which she was licking as she came and a jerry can lid She cant be more than seven maybe eight I crouch next to her trying to communicate She seems unfazed by me a strange white woman and only glances at me curious and unafraid wondering why she has been brought here to my home I bring her a bowl of food and her whole face light up as if food is an unexpected and unusual surprise She begins methodically eating her bowl of beans and posho stopping after each bite to lick her hand front and back like a cat cleaning itself Now and then she looks up and scans the yard her eyes frequently resting on my dog lying at her feet She offers him a handful of food tilting her head and clicking at him in her own language He seems to understand and gratefully accepts her offering She eats and eats and eats full but unwilling to leave even a bite of food uneaten I try to explain that I will give her a bowl to take the uneaten food with her but she doesnt understand and keeps eating slowly now bean by bean We bring a basin and soap hoping to wash her and give her a clean set of clothes Apparently bathing is a new thing to her She touches the water and begins to scream and squeal crawling back into a corner of my porch to crouch cold and naked like a cornered animal She is hysterical squealing and clicking at us all goodwill forgotten in her fear of a bath I keep my distance not wanting to scare her more but her attention span is like that of a one year old and she is quickly distracted by her empty food bowl She picks it up again and begins to lick it slowly until it looks unused and clean I come close to her again talking softly with a clean shirt and her own skirt She is calm again her almost-bath forgotten and lets me dress her like a little child She gathers her treasures including her empty and clean food bowl and runs to the gate chattering happily in clicks and whistles Her belly is full and she is content for today I hear her story from various people and compare their accounts trying to find the truth Some things are the same she has been on the street for several years an orphan no one wants to deal with They say shes crazy a child who eats poop and grunts clicks and whistles to communicate She seems more like a wild animal than a child a feral untamed animal Everyone around knows who she is and even how she lives but no one wants to help her She is seen daily but not really Not with His eyes This week I have been thinking a lot about people how we are created in the image of God and what that really means God is good and beautiful and creative and love But we seem to be just the opposite broken and sinful and angry and selfish More often than not these bad things are the only things we see in ourselves and in others Our brokenness overshadows our beauty We seem so incapable of seeing beauty that we even sometimes question whether God is really good The broken sinfulness of our humanity hides the goodness that surrounds us the goodness that God created in us and around us and for us But when we see with His eyes hellipthe woman who pokes me with her nub of a hand begging for money every single time I see herhellip hellipthe street boys who tell my little girls all the nasty things they want to do to themhellip hellipthe alcoholic mother who beats her childrenhellip hellipthe man whose leg wound makes my stomach turnhellip hellipthe homeless man with bad breath and stinky clotheshellip hellipand the little orphaned and abandoned girl that everyone says is crazy They are all beautiful Because get this they are all created in the image of God They are all created to be good and beautiful and creative and to love and be loved Francis Schaeffer wrote people are magnificent even in ruin And our job as followers of Christ is to find that magnificence even in the brokenness that surrounds each one of us Because its there It may be hidden but its there May we see with the eyes of Jesus who saw the crowds following Him not as a nuisance but as harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd May the eyes of our hearts be enlightened to see the beauty that surrounds us every day Jesus the mender You take me apart Put my heart in my throat and my eyes in my heart

son agreed and they took off for the market When they got there they heard David preaching the gospel and they
open their hearts to the message and the love of Jesus and accepted him as their Savior and now follow Him
David said ldquoScotty if God is out there calling people unto himself people who had never heard us preach the
gospel before people who did not have Christian friends people who had never heard of Jesus if God is willing
to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
is and in what he is doing Please Brother Scotty come and preach the Gospel please donrsquot take this the wrong
way but you are white and people will come to hear you that would never come to hear me preach because of my
skin color but they will come and hear you Please know I want you to come if your church will send you and
prayerfully we can reach thousands for Christ while you are here
So here we are a team of three going to India praying and seeking God out asking him to use us to
share the gospel in some villages in the orphanages at a youth conference and in the open market and at Baptism
and on one of our Sunday mornings at church We will be working with Hyderabad Baptist Church itrsquos the largest
Baptist church India over 20000 attended on the weekend service and they have 159 satellite Campuses Please
pray for our travel the ability to be able to adapt to the culture the food the people and that we hear Godrsquos voice
clearly and are able to share those things with the people we get to know

Mission Trip Sept 23rd-Oct 6th
Hyderabad India
Two years ago around VBS
time Pete and I had finished
up a book called rdquoRadical
Churchrdquo in that book we had
read about a organization that
was going to villages and
preaching the gospel From
some of the villages the young
men that had been saved
would be invited to come back
to a bible training school and
go through some basic bible
training After the training the
organization would help send
them back to their villages to
help teach the word of God in
the village There were great
stories of villages coming to
Christ as well as tragic stories
of villages killing the young
men that came back home to share the love of God because they didnrsquot want to hear it That stuck a note in our
hearts
Pete had mentioned that he didnrsquot feel called to India but would anyone on our staff be willing to go
Without hesitation I volunteered Things started coming together after that conversation I remember a friend
that I had gone to college with at Dallas Baptist University Her name was Mary Gollapalle at the time I had lost
touch with her but was soon able to regain contact through some professors that were mutual friends of ours
Mary put me in contact with her brother David and we hit it off After we talked he shared this story with
me He told me of two men a dad and his son The young teenage son was having dreams of a man coming into
his room and tapping on his shoulder and telling him ldquocome and follow merdquo The young man had the dream sev-
eral times for weeks so much so he thought it was real Every time he would wake up and look down the hall
expecting to see the man but he was never there The young man became frighten and set his mind to go and talk
to his father He was afraid to do this because if his dad through he was crazy he would disinherit him from the
familyrsquos will and banish him from the home as well He just had to talk to his dad though he just couldnrsquot hold it
in any longerhellip

ldquoDadhellip Dadhellip Dad can I talk to yourdquo ask the young man ldquoWhat is it son what can I do for yourdquo ldquoDad I am
sorry to interrupt you in the midst of your Hindu prayers but I need to tell you about a dream I have been having
and I donrsquot know what to do about itrdquo ldquoWell son go ahead tell me your dream and I will see what I can do to
helprdquo So the son took time to explain the dream to his father he told him how real it felt how he could feel the
man touching his shoulder and his words of ldquocome and follow merdquo Dad I donrsquot know who it is and he started
to break down in tears ldquoHow can I follow a man that I donrsquot know who it isrdquo His dad grabbed his son by the
shoulders and looked him in the eye ldquoson it will be ok I think I know who this man is because he has been com-
ing to me in my dreams and telling me the same thingrdquo ldquoReally dad who is herdquo ldquoHe told me his name was Je-
susrdquo The son was beside himself and had so many questions for his dad His dad did not know himself what to
tell him His dad said ldquoI have heard that name spoken before down at the open market where they dunk the peo-
ple into the water (an open market baptism) Let us go there and hear what they have to say about his namerdquo His

Two years ago around VBS
time Pete and I had finished
up a book called rdquoRadical

read about a organization that
was going to villages and
preaching the gospel From
some of the villages the young
men that had been saved
would be invited to come back
to a bible training school and
go through some basic bible

organization would help send
them back to their villages to
help teach the word of God in
the village There were great
stories of villages coming to

of villages killing the young

She squats on my front porch her backbone protruding from her naked back Her skirt is tattered and several sizes too small Her small pile of belongings rests beside her several bottle caps an empty salt bag which she was licking as she came and a jerry can lid She cant be more than seven maybe eight I crouch next to her trying to communicate She seems unfazed by me a strange white woman and only glances at me curious and unafraid wondering why she has been brought here to my home I bring her a bowl of food and her whole face light up as if food is an unexpected and unusual surprise She begins methodically eating her bowl of beans and posho stopping after each bite to lick her hand front and back like a cat cleaning itself Now and then she looks up and scans the yard her eyes frequently resting on my dog lying at her feet She offers him a handful of food tilting her head and clicking at him in her own language He seems to understand and gratefully accepts her offering She eats and eats and eats full but unwilling to leave even a bite of food uneaten I try to explain that I will give her a bowl to take the uneaten food with her but she doesnt understand and keeps eating slowly now bean by bean We bring a basin and soap hoping to wash her and give her a clean set of clothes Apparently bathing is a new thing to her She touches the water and begins to scream and squeal crawling back into a corner of my porch to crouch cold and naked like a cornered animal She is hysterical squealing and clicking at us all goodwill forgotten in her fear of a bath I keep my distance not wanting to scare her more but her attention span is like that of a one year old and she is quickly distracted by her empty food bowl She picks it up again and begins to lick it slowly until it looks unused and clean I come close to her again talking softly with a clean shirt and her own skirt She is calm again her almost-bath forgotten and lets me dress her like a little child She gathers her treasures including her empty and clean food bowl and runs to the gate chattering happily in clicks and whistles Her belly is full and she is content for today I hear her story from various people and compare their accounts trying to find the truth Some things are the same she has been on the street for several years an orphan no one wants to deal with They say shes crazy a child who eats poop and grunts clicks and whistles to communicate She seems more like a wild animal than a child a feral untamed animal Everyone around knows who she is and even how she lives but no one wants to help her She is seen daily but not really Not with His eyes This week I have been thinking a lot about people how we are created in the image of God and what that really means God is good and beautiful and creative and love But we seem to be just the opposite broken and sinful and angry and selfish More often than not these bad things are the only things we see in ourselves and in others Our brokenness overshadows our beauty We seem so incapable of seeing beauty that we even sometimes question whether God is really good The broken sinfulness of our humanity hides the goodness that surrounds us the goodness that God created in us and around us and for us But when we see with His eyes hellipthe woman who pokes me with her nub of a hand begging for money every single time I see herhellip hellipthe street boys who tell my little girls all the nasty things they want to do to themhellip hellipthe alcoholic mother who beats her childrenhellip hellipthe man whose leg wound makes my stomach turnhellip hellipthe homeless man with bad breath and stinky clotheshellip hellipand the little orphaned and abandoned girl that everyone says is crazy They are all beautiful Because get this they are all created in the image of God They are all created to be good and beautiful and creative and to love and be loved Francis Schaeffer wrote people are magnificent even in ruin And our job as followers of Christ is to find that magnificence even in the brokenness that surrounds each one of us Because its there It may be hidden but its there May we see with the eyes of Jesus who saw the crowds following Him not as a nuisance but as harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd May the eyes of our hearts be enlightened to see the beauty that surrounds us every day Jesus the mender You take me apart Put my heart in my throat and my eyes in my heart

ing to me in my dreams and telling me the same thingrdquo ldquoReally dad who is herdquo ldquoHe told me his name was Je-
susrdquo The son was beside himself and had so many questions for his dad His dad did not know himself what to
tell him His dad said ldquoI have heard that name spoken before down at the open market where they dunk the peo-
ple into the water (an open market baptism) Let us go there and hear what they have to say about his namerdquo His
son agreed and they took off for the market When they got there they heard David preaching the gospel and they
open their hearts to the message and the love of Jesus and accepted him as their Savior and now follow Him
David said ldquoScotty if God is out there calling people unto himself people who had never heard us preach the
gospel before people who did not have Christian friends people who had never heard of Jesus if God is willing
to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
is and in what he is doing Please Brother Scotty come and preach the Gospel please donrsquot take this the wrong
way but you are white and people will come to hear you that would never come to hear me preach because of my
skin color but they will come and hear you Please know I want you to come if your church will send you and
prayerfully we can reach thousands for Christ while you are here
So here we are a team of three going to India praying and seeking God out asking him to use us to
share the gospel in some villages in the orphanages at a youth conference and in the open market and at Baptism
and on one of our Sunday mornings at church We will be working with Hyderabad Baptist Church itrsquos the largest

pray for our travel the ability to be able to adapt to the culture the food the people and that we hear Godrsquos voice

I wrote it down when I found out that I was pregnant I wrote it when I was scared of possibly losing the life that was growing inside of me When I was scared or unsure I would read this quote and be reassured that I can trust God completely I can trust Him even when it doesnt work out the way I want I read it this morn-ing and was reminded of His love for me for all of mankind

stories of villages coming to

of villages killing the young
men that came back home to share the love of God because they didnrsquot want to hear it That stuck a note in our
Mary put me in contact with her brother David and we hit it off After we talked he shared this story with
me He told me of two men a dad and his son The young teenage son was having dreams of a man coming into
his room and tapping on his shoulder and telling him ldquocome and follow merdquo The young man had the dream sev-
eral times for weeks so much so he thought it was real Every time he would wake up and look down the hall
expecting to see the man but he was never there The young man became frighten and set his mind to go and talk
to his father He was afraid to do this because if his dad through he was crazy he would disinherit him from the
familyrsquos will and banish him from the home as well He just had to talk to his dad though he just couldnrsquot hold it

to break down in tears ldquoHow can I follow a man that I donrsquot know who it isrdquo His dad grabbed his son by the
shoulders and looked him in the eye ldquoson it will be ok I think I know who this man is because he has been com-
ing to me in my dreams and telling me the same thingrdquo ldquoReally dad who is herdquo ldquoHe told me his name was Je-
susrdquo The son was beside himself and had so many questions for his dad His dad did not know himself what to
tell him His dad said ldquoI have heard that name spoken before down at the open market where they dunk the peo-
ple into the water (an open market baptism) Let us go there and hear what they have to say about his namerdquo His
son agreed and they took off for the market When they got there they heard David preaching the gospel and they
open their hearts to the message and the love of Jesus and accepted him as their Savior and now follow Him
David said ldquoScotty if God is out there calling people unto himself people who had never heard us preach the
gospel before people who did not have Christian friends people who had never heard of Jesus if God is willing
to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
is and in what he is doing Please Brother Scotty come and preach the Gospel please donrsquot take this the wrong
way but you are white and people will come to hear you that would never come to hear me preach because of my
skin color but they will come and hear you Please know I want you to come if your church will send you and
prayerfully we can reach thousands for Christ while you are here
So here we are a team of three going to India praying and seeking God out asking him to use us to
share the gospel in some villages in the orphanages at a youth conference and in the open market and at Baptism
and on one of our Sunday mornings at church We will be working with Hyderabad Baptist Church itrsquos the largest
Baptist church India over 20000 attended on the weekend service and they have 159 satellite Campuses Please
pray for our travel the ability to be able to adapt to the culture the food the people and that we hear Godrsquos voice
clearly and are able to share those things with the people we get to know

She squats on my front porch her backbone protruding from her naked back Her skirt is tattered and several sizes too small Her small pile of belongings rests beside her several bottle caps an empty salt bag which she was licking as she came and a jerry can lid She cant be more than seven maybe eight I crouch next to her trying to communicate She seems unfazed by me a strange white woman and only glances at me curious and unafraid wondering why she has been brought here to my home I bring her a bowl of food and her whole face light up as if food is an unexpected and unusual surprise She begins methodically eating her bowl of beans and posho stopping after each bite to lick her hand front and back like a cat cleaning itself Now and then she looks up and scans the yard her eyes frequently resting on my dog lying at her feet She offers him a handful of food tilting her head and clicking at him in her own language He seems to understand and gratefully accepts her offering She eats and eats and eats full but unwilling to leave even a bite of food uneaten I try to explain that I will give her a bowl to take the uneaten food with her but she doesnt understand and keeps eating slowly now bean by bean We bring a basin and soap hoping to wash her and give her a clean set of clothes Apparently bathing is a new thing to her She touches the water and begins to scream and squeal crawling back into a corner of my porch to crouch cold and naked like a cornered animal She is hysterical squealing and clicking at us all goodwill forgotten in her fear of a bath I keep my distance not wanting to scare her more but her attention span is like that of a one year old and she is quickly distracted by her empty food bowl She picks it up again and begins to lick it slowly until it looks unused and clean I come close to her again talking softly with a clean shirt and her own skirt She is calm again her almost-bath forgotten and lets me dress her like a little child She gathers her treasures including her empty and clean food bowl and runs to the gate chattering happily in clicks and whistles Her belly is full and she is content for today I hear her story from various people and compare their accounts trying to find the truth Some things are the same she has been on the street for several years an orphan no one wants to deal with They say shes crazy a child who eats poop and grunts clicks and whistles to communicate She seems more like a wild animal than a child a feral untamed animal Everyone around knows who she is and even how she lives but no one wants to help her She is seen daily but not really Not with His eyes This week I have been thinking a lot about people how we are created in the image of God and what that really means God is good and beautiful and creative and love But we seem to be just the opposite broken and sinful and angry and selfish More often than not these bad things are the only things we see in ourselves and in others Our brokenness overshadows our beauty We seem so incapable of seeing beauty that we even sometimes question whether God is really good The broken sinfulness of our humanity hides the goodness that surrounds us the goodness that God created in us and around us and for us But when we see with His eyes hellipthe woman who pokes me with her nub of a hand begging for money every single time I see herhellip hellipthe street boys who tell my little girls all the nasty things they want to do to themhellip hellipthe alcoholic mother who beats her childrenhellip hellipthe man whose leg wound makes my stomach turnhellip hellipthe homeless man with bad breath and stinky clotheshellip hellipand the little orphaned and abandoned girl that everyone says is crazy They are all beautiful Because get this they are all created in the image of God They are all created to be good and beautiful and creative and to love and be loved Francis Schaeffer wrote people are magnificent even in ruin And our job as followers of Christ is to find that magnificence even in the brokenness that surrounds each one of us Because its there It may be hidden but its there May we see with the eyes of Jesus who saw the crowds following Him not as a nuisance but as harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd May the eyes of our hearts be enlightened to see the beauty that surrounds us every day Jesus the mender You take me apart Put my heart in my throat and my eyes in my heart

time Pete and I had finished

read about a organization that
was going to villages and
preaching the gospel From
some of the villages the young
men that had been saved
would be invited to come back
to a bible training school and
go through some basic bible
training After the training the
organization would help send
them back to their villages to
help teach the word of God in
the village There were great
stories of villages coming to
Christ as well as tragic stories
of villages killing the young
men that came back home to share the love of God because they didnrsquot want to hear it That stuck a note in our
Mary put me in contact with her brother David and we hit it off After we talked he shared this story with
me He told me of two men a dad and his son The young teenage son was having dreams of a man coming into
his room and tapping on his shoulder and telling him ldquocome and follow merdquo The young man had the dream sev-
eral times for weeks so much so he thought it was real Every time he would wake up and look down the hall
expecting to see the man but he was never there The young man became frighten and set his mind to go and talk
to his father He was afraid to do this because if his dad through he was crazy he would disinherit him from the
familyrsquos will and banish him from the home as well He just had to talk to his dad though he just couldnrsquot hold it
in any longerhellip

to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
is and in what he is doing Please Brother Scotty come and preach the Gospel please donrsquot take this the wrong
way but you are white and people will come to hear you that would never come to hear me preach because of my
skin color but they will come and hear you Please know I want you to come if your church will send you and
prayerfully we can reach thousands for Christ while you are here
So here we are a team of three going to India praying and seeking God out asking him to use us to
share the gospel in some villages in the orphanages at a youth conference and in the open market and at Baptism
and on one of our Sunday mornings at church We will be working with Hyderabad Baptist Church itrsquos the largest
Baptist church India over 20000 attended on the weekend service and they have 159 satellite Campuses Please
pray for our travel the ability to be able to adapt to the culture the food the people and that we hear Godrsquos voice
clearly and are able to share those things with the people we get to know

Mission Trip Sept 23rd-Oct 6th
Hyderabad India
Two years ago around VBS
time Pete and I had finished
up a book called rdquoRadical
Churchrdquo in that book we had
read about a organization that
was going to villages and
preaching the gospel From
some of the villages the young
men that had been saved
would be invited to come back
to a bible training school and
go through some basic bible
training After the training the
organization would help send
them back to their villages to
help teach the word of God in
the village There were great
stories of villages coming to
Christ as well as tragic stories
of villages killing the young
men that came back home to share the love of God because they didnrsquot want to hear it That stuck a note in our
hearts
Pete had mentioned that he didnrsquot feel called to India but would anyone on our staff be willing to go
Without hesitation I volunteered Things started coming together after that conversation I remember a friend
that I had gone to college with at Dallas Baptist University Her name was Mary Gollapalle at the time I had lost
touch with her but was soon able to regain contact through some professors that were mutual friends of ours
Mary put me in contact with her brother David and we hit it off After we talked he shared this story with
me He told me of two men a dad and his son The young teenage son was having dreams of a man coming into
his room and tapping on his shoulder and telling him ldquocome and follow merdquo The young man had the dream sev-
eral times for weeks so much so he thought it was real Every time he would wake up and look down the hall
expecting to see the man but he was never there The young man became frighten and set his mind to go and talk
to his father He was afraid to do this because if his dad through he was crazy he would disinherit him from the
familyrsquos will and banish him from the home as well He just had to talk to his dad though he just couldnrsquot hold it
in any longerhellip

ldquoDadhellip Dadhellip Dad can I talk to yourdquo ask the young man ldquoWhat is it son what can I do for yourdquo ldquoDad I am
sorry to interrupt you in the midst of your Hindu prayers but I need to tell you about a dream I have been having
and I donrsquot know what to do about itrdquo ldquoWell son go ahead tell me your dream and I will see what I can do to
helprdquo So the son took time to explain the dream to his father he told him how real it felt how he could feel the
man touching his shoulder and his words of ldquocome and follow merdquo Dad I donrsquot know who it is and he started
to break down in tears ldquoHow can I follow a man that I donrsquot know who it isrdquo His dad grabbed his son by the
shoulders and looked him in the eye ldquoson it will be ok I think I know who this man is because he has been com-
ing to me in my dreams and telling me the same thingrdquo ldquoReally dad who is herdquo ldquoHe told me his name was Je-
susrdquo The son was beside himself and had so many questions for his dad His dad did not know himself what to
tell him His dad said ldquoI have heard that name spoken before down at the open market where they dunk the peo-
ple into the water (an open market baptism) Let us go there and hear what they have to say about his namerdquo His
son agreed and they took off for the market When they got there they heard David preaching the gospel and they
open their hearts to the message and the love of Jesus and accepted him as their Savior and now follow Him
David said ldquoScotty if God is out there calling people unto himself people who had never heard us preach the
gospel before people who did not have Christian friends people who had never heard of Jesus if God is willing
to come to them in a dream and tell them ldquocome and follow merdquo how much more should we join God where he
